Characters you like that you really, really shouldn't.

What characters in video games, movies, TV shows, novels or plays do you like, but shouldn't? I'm talking characters like Satan or Hitler or Edward Cullen.

For me, it's Megatron. I either agree with him, or admire his determination. Seriously, the guy's died hundreds of times, but never stops. Dedication.

Plus, he has a great personality.

Tom Riddle

The fact that he's a psychopath who liked to torture animals and children when he was a child himself is creepy and bad. But the fact of the matter is, in the entire Potter-universe the only two characters who react remotely realistically to being handed wands with almost unlimited power are Riddle and Dumbledore. They both start thinking along the lines of: "I'm really clever. With this magic I could rule the Earth. Anything I say goes."

I'm afraid to say that is exactly what I would have thought if Dumbledore had showed up at my house and told me I was a wizard. So I can sympathize with Riddle's reaction to being a wizard and being special. I can also sympathize with his reason for overachieving at school (power and glory). For that, I really like the character. The sadist psychopath part; not so much.

let's see here...

Tails from Sonic the Hedgehog: yeah, he's a total *****, but he can FLY. AWESOME.

Gaston from Beauty and the Beast: he's a massive douche, but he's easily the most entertaining character and he has the best (and most meme-worthy) song in the movie.

Voldemort from Harry Potter: this guy is a great villain. he's a cross between Hitler and a tragic Shakespeare character. I kinda sympathised with young Tom, because it was his homeless mother who messed his life up. great villain, great character.

The Jew Hunter from Inglorious Basterds: he's just a dispicable human being, but entertaining as all hell to watch.

Dolores Umbridge from Harry Potter: I hate her so much, and that's why I love her. there's "cool" bad guys like Darth Vader or Magneto, but then there's villains like THIS, where you actually HATE them. great example of how to write a GOOD bad guy.

Bellatrix Lestrange from the Harry Potter films. She's quite literally insane, sadistic and pretty blood evil, yet she is just so awesome with the way she runs around cackling when she's done something evil and the way she makes being unhinged appealing. Sure she might've killed Dobby and performed implied rape on Hermione, but she is still a great character who I love for some reason. Plus she's played by Helena Bonham Carter, come on.

Jaime and Circe Lannister from A Song of Ice and Fire, freaking epic scheming people (I'm halfway through A Feast Of Crows) and Colonel Quaritch from Avatar (be honest he had the right idea).

Navi.

I liked Navi. I thought the "Hey, Listen!" was rather charming :3 I got sad when I realised Link would never find her again in Majora's Mask.

I like Edward Cullen, Dante of DMC, and Duke Nukem. When I kinda think I shouldn't.

Duke because he is a great deal of everything I hate about humanity and machismo at large, but then again because he's a parody it becomes funny as hell.
Dante because no matter how emo or dickish he gets, he still looks sooooo awesome doing it.
Edward Cullen because despite being in a godawful insertive fanfic of Vampire the Masquerade, he still proves to be an honorable (if naive thinking Bella would forget him if he just up and left) and virtuous character. He reminds me of myself a little. Not how he looks, how he acts.

Xanatos, of Gargoyles fame.

The man was smooth, intelligent, and coined a term for plans within plans within plans. So remember that the next time you hear someone talk about the Xanatos Gambit, and respect the original grand master schemer.

Raiden from the Metal Gear series, truly an irritating example of injecting new life into a game but when your replacing someone like Snake, its quite difficult.

Also I'd like to point out I liked him in MGS2 as the blonde, domestic-arguing gymnast before his "badass" reload in MGS4. Why? I identified with him, being put in a new situation and being mentored by Pliskin effectively combined driving the plot and the introduction of a new audience.

Ezio Auditore.

He's a killer thousands of times over and generally a self-centered womanizing douche. But his game is one of my all-time favorites.

Magneto, because he really does reverberate off of what most people would do in his situation.

The Templars from the first AC. Their deathbed confessions are awesome and they make great points while still being the enemy. AC2 just made them bland villains and I didn't like it nearly as much.

Detective Roy Earle from LAPD. The guy is a massive asshole, but his jokes make me laugh. Damn his sarcasm!

Black Adam from DC Comics
Even though at times he is an inhumane monster, slaughtered an entire country in one night. Something about the way he killed Psycho Pirate by shoving his mask through his head with 2 fingers 3 Stooges style makes him likeable.

Oh, you mean Enzo? He was alright, he was hilarious in the very beginning though.

OT: I liked Mumra from Thundercats, and I don't know why but he's an awesome villian.
