Fuck America.
It's just the usual British hate on us for kicking their asses twice and then we saved them. If anything the film just sucks. Also, maybe it's because it's non-fiction. Really, we go to movies to be entertained, not to take naps.
Learn your history boy. You didn't kick our 'asses' twice. The first time OUR colonialists revolted against the Crown the British stormed in and took Washington. We won that war and kept our colonies. In the American revolution the teams were as follows;

For the British side;
Great Britain

For the American side;
USA
France
Spain
Dutch Republic

So the USA had a larger allied force and were fighting on home ground. Great Britain had to sail half way across the world to fight and were outnumbered due to a small ground army.
So in fact my friend you did not kick our asses at all, you required Britain's three greatest European enemies to help you.

I like how this thread is going. Only one possibly flamey comment towards America/religion, and we're four pages in? Perhaps there is hope.

Oh wait, I forgot, we're on the Escapist.

I didn't think it was that low!

Thats it. Thats the last straw. I've had it with America, I'm moving to England.
Hello my friend you wanna have some crumpets and maybe a cup of tea? After that we can play some soccer or cricket. Also look at our women, they are beautiful.

Have fun in England.

Ahhh, I love English women....

[small/]such a beautiful voice[/small]
Beautiful voice you say??, just don't go to Essex or Liverpool, unless you want cheap sex and stabbing.

Only 39 percent? Where are these people?

I know that everyone in my school believes in evolution. Then again, I live in New York City. I assume most of the people who don't believe in the theory live in the south.
Absolutely true. One of my former College dormates was from Northern Florida, which is not even remotely liek the rest of Florida. All I'll say is that he was horribly racist, sexist, fundamentalist, etc.

(Note: I don't have a problem with religion, nor am I saying all southern people are religious fundamentalists. I do have a problem when you start trying to shove religion down my throat. I get violent when you do that).

Well, you' gotta point there.

We already know eveything about Darwin and his work, there are volumes on the subject. Any film released these days are just and admirable attempt ar IRL Trolling, especially in America.

Ahh, America, the home of the religious zealot. If you haven't read Richard Dawkin's book The God Delusion, I recommend it. He explains the state of religion in America wonderfully. Not that I don't seriously face palm whenever stuff like this comes up. As an anthropologist, I can't help but think my fellow Americans are bat shite crazy (the ones who want creationism taught in school)--our founding fathers were Atheist and this is where we end up? Anyway, my point is that evolution and science should be taught in school, and if you believe in creationism learn it at CHURCH. Separation of government funded schools and religion.

well, I certainly want to see the film now, if just to spite those Americans who still believe in creationism.

I mean, seriously, how stupid do people get??? I alway resolutely believed that America was actually smart and whatnot before, that all this rubbish about them being redneck Christians was just a minority of the Americans, but fu** me, I've been proven well and truly wrong. 61% of Americans believe in creationism???? No offence to Christianity, it does a lot of good stuff, but bloody hell thats just idiotic.

No evidence to support Darwinism?? HOW ABOUT US?! we're living, breathing proof of evolution! Look at the fossils from our ancestors and we're so obviously different from them it isn't even funny!

This news has made me really quite depressed, I've despaired in America yet again... and I thought it was on a rise with Obama at the head... oh wait, people keep moaning about him cause he's 'socialist'... socialist my arse... I guess the Americans haven't changed afterall. =\

edit: I mean no offense to the Americans among us (which is most of us), I just got rather vexed by this news. Not just creationism is still believed, but also because the American film companies have refused to even accept the film into the country. Ignorance is one thing, not even listening to a sound theory is something entirely else.

"In God We Trust" is a statement about our freedom of religion. Creationism has nothing to do with it.

Hence, the poster is a bit misleading, though it is pretty neat that they have CD on a bill. I think Benjamin Franklin was more badass though.

God why do americans not bohter checking the meaning of their statements? Social Darwinism has nothing to do with Darwin himself, other philoshipers merely took his theory and applied it to people and races.
It reminds of the time that woman said that Obama talking to kids in school was "socialistic", how so? Do you even know what that word means?

wow... it's times like this that make me proud to live in the USA... I mean, hell, not only do we govern our country based on one person's religious ideals, but we also deny certain forms of media because of the popular belief... Awesome!
