Hey, I was just wondering, what everyone's personal opinion of the cheapest Brawl character is.
I've heard from a LOT of people that Pikachu is, but I've heard a LOT of complaining from my friend because I am very proficient with Snake.
I was just wondering what your opinion of the cheapest character in Brawl is, and why. Thank you.

I really don't find any certain character cheap. Its the old saying that, "Its not the gun that is a good shot, its the shooter". Kinda paraphrasing but you get the point. But if I had to complain about a character, it would be Ice Climbers. Those little fucks are believable if you put them into hands of an excellent player.

EDIT: By the way, welcome to The Escapist.

Most 'serious' players will tell you that it's Meta Knight, because his sword gives him too much priority and his attacks have next to no lag. For that reason, at most pro tournaments, MK is banned. True, they also ban every single stage that's not perfectly static and symmetrical, but still.

My personal opinion? I can't really say. Speaking as someone who's played a lot of Brawl, I never really noticed that one character was any cheaper. Then again, I only ever play against the AI, since I don't have any friends in meatspace able to come over...

Yep, Kirby was always annoying if you threw him off the edge and he would float up. It's amazing to see this style of game get this far. I still remember when Melee came out. Mario Reflective Cape FTW.

I would say the big power people usually are more inclined to be unfair. Though I never had much of a problem in this area in SSB. Though I have had near to no time with Brawl and am going on Melee more.

As a player who rarely plays Brawl, I'd say Ice Climbers and Kirby are pretty unfair...
I was fairly bad at Brawl, but I could usually come 2nd against three of my Brawl-playing friends with either of those characters =D

I can't speak for Brawl, but I can speak for Melee, and I always felt that the Ice Climbers were just...cheap as hell. Every attack that hits the pink one is neigh-wasted. That and double-teaming.

But honestly I guess that there wasn't a really unfair character around. It's just that my bro was really good with the Ice Climbers. Luckily I was better.

Mario's uber-quick one-two-punch + dodge FTW! A crapton of easy damage that was.

I never used that, I always pissed off my friend who liked Samus before she became eye candy. He would charge the Energy Shot or Missile and always get close, unleash it in my face only to be hit by his own attack that was reflected by a fucking cape.

Although, to be honest any character can be "cheap" if your getting the living crap beat out of you. I used to rage if I couldn't at least get a handful of hits in.

If I had to say that a character's cheap, then I'd say it's Pit with the forward+B attack. They're still my favourtie character, though.

I hear people saying that Meta Knight's cheap, but I've never had any problems beating them. They really aren't at all tough.

I'm gonna say Mr. Game and Watch.

This just to relive some of the hatred I have for this guy in the game. It seems whenever I'm put up against this dude he just trounces me. Even just as a CPU-player, he still manages to whoop my ass. I don't know if it's because he's CHEAP, per se, he's just very annoying to me.

A lot of my Nintendo-playing friends said Metaknight was the cheapest but I think they were just mad that I kicked their asses with him all the time.

From what I can tell from games with my friends, there is really no 'overpowered' characters.

That being said though, I am banned from using Zelda, and another friend is banned from using Jigglypuff. =(

All I know is that Jigglypuff was banned from tournaments in the 64 version...Seriously.
Well, remember that perfectly-timed Rest attack will kill just about anything, and you would bet there would be Jigglypuff mainers out there who would figure out that perfect timing, that's not too hard to believe.

Then in Melee they gave it Rollout... oh, God, Rollout... *shudder*

Meta Knight was easily the most cheap SSB character. Way too many recovery moves and most of his moves dealt, at the very least, "decent" damage.

Ike comes second for being able to KO people when they're on 50%.

In the tournament sphere, it's Meta Knight. Since a lot of his moves have high priority, he's usually able to cancel out others' attacks and deal damage to them instead. Since his attacks are easily spammable, he can do a lot of damage in a short amount of time.

For me, though, it's Pit. He's spam incarnate. Long range spammy projectiles, a spammy reflect attack, and a ridiculous recovery make him a pain to fight in 1-on-1 battles
