I murder everything with Ike. He can kill characters under 40%. Lucas is a little on the unfair side because he has some devastating attacks.
I'm sorry you had to write that entire wall of text that I pretty much just ignored.timeadept said:Wow, i'm sorry you think so, because link is my absolute best character. He can pull a strong spin attack outa his ass at any time. Follow up a few quick strikes with a smash attack and your foe will have a job dodging that, what? he just dodged behind me? SPIN ATTACK! Not to mention he has the boomerang, for harassing the enemy at distance, breaking up their form and disrupting their assault. Down and a to swipe their feet and knock them down, follow that up with a spin attack and if they did anything but dodge away from you, they're getting hit. Bomb spamming works well from time to time if they try to stay away from you. Finally, link is pretty heavy and so difficult to knock around, but once he gets damaged and thrown into the air, come down on their head and put your sword in their skull with down + a. That's probably his most devastating move, i can pull it off from standing on flat ground, leaping above their defenses and landing on their head bringing the pain. I almost always play him defensively, letting my opponents come to me and counter attacking.GenericPCUser said:What makes me a little sad is Link, Zelda, Ganon all at the bottom tiers, giving way to the term 'Triforce of Fail'
It all depends on how well you can play each character, but i have never met someone who can consistently beat me while i'm playing link.
Tiers are for competitive play, non-high skilled players, casuals, party players, and people with no tournament ambition or experience should not use them as a perfect reference for the characters, instead using them as a vague guideline for what is or isn't good. If you really want to know why the tier's are the way they are, go to the forum's on http://www.smashboards.com/ where they actually discuss match-ups, tier placement, and a lot more.Cazza said:King Dedede
Overpowered for how fast he is. Unless it's just me being really good at him. His combos are great.
Just read the tier list. I feel it's full of crap. I know people who kick ass with the lowest tier characters. It all comes down to how good you are with a charcter.
oh yeah, definitely. Blocking and dodging are some of the best skills you can have in that game. They'll translate to any character and at times i can be nigh untouchable even with someone as slow as link (who is slow to move but not to attack)Xiado said:I agree; Zelda is one of my best characters, because she can switch from one of the best defensive, range based characters to one of the most unpredictable and fast offensive ones. Ganon can be useful in large melees if you play him right: all too many players forget about blocking, and he can counterattack from there decently well, especially with his A, which has really decent damage, knockback, and speed.timeadept said:Wow, i'm sorry you think so, because link is my absolute best character. Well until one of them kicks my ass, I will always consider link the best character in the game.GenericPCUser said:timeadept said:Wow, i'm sorry you think so, because link is my absolute best character. http://super-smash-bros.wikia.com/wiki/Tier_list Link, Zelda, and Ganon are the bottom three in the Standard Competitive American Tier List, creating the 'Triforce of Fail.' That statement had nothing to do with how they are played, or what success you may or may not have had, and everything to do with their tier allocation.
I can't stand Sheik tbh, but you make lots of good points its just a shame that my friends never took the time to counter Zelda.GenericPCUser said:Din has roughly .5-.8 seconds delay before damage comes out (If you play FPS games or Fighters you know how long that really is.) and when timed can be blocked, perfect shielded, or dodged. Nayru's Love (Reflect) has to be timed accurately, and can be taken advantage of due to long start up and long cool down. Forward and Back Air are both amazing in damage and knock back, but require pinpoint accuracy and become really predictable. Her throw range is pretty short, but deals some decent damage. If it was Melee, you could combo after throw, but Brawl has no combos thanks to DI, and almost no hit stun.
Surprisingly, Zelda has a really strong defensive game. When the opponent rushes, and she is able to use all of her tools, she can put some serious hurt on the enemy. Unfortunately, lacking a truly strong range game, she has no real way to force people to attack her, and often will end up having to use her crappy offensive game. I find it's best to feign an offensive push, then fall back and play defense again. Your smashes can be DI'ed out of, and are unreliable against more skilled players, so your only viable killing move is forward and back air.
It should also be said, this is merely my opinionated experience, and it depends what skill the people you're fighting are at. Also, I never change to Shiek, as she is really not my strong point.
Zelda is only good against those who don't know what she is capable of, unfortunately because all my friends fight my Zelda all the time, she becomes predictable and easy to punish with Snake's grenades (exploding on Nayru's Love), Snake's forward tilt, Snake's up tilt, and Meta Knight's anything (Both of them play Snake and Meta Knight respectively and that's why I use them as examples.)
