Sonic's is hard to control and Meta knight I think needs someone in front of him (I think, I've never had the chance to use his final smash.Drummie666 said:Strangely enough, I was also pretty proficient with snake for the few days I played brawl before giving up on trying to deal with it's bullshit. But overall, I'd say the game is pretty balanced... except for some final smashes, like how sonic's is insanely overpowered, while metaknights is completely worthless.
Thanks =]Tomo Stryker said:I really don't find any certain character cheap. Its the old saying that, "Its not the gun that is a good shot, its the shooter". Kinda paraphrasing but you get the point. But if I had to complain about a character, it would be Ice Climbers. Those little fucks are believable if you put them into hands of an excellent player.
EDIT: By the way, welcome to The Escapist.
Fox is definitely a force to be reckoned with. I don't know if anyone else noticed this, but I feel like he's one of, if not the hardest CPU controlled opponent.Ladette said:I didn't play enough Brawl to get a feel for character tiers, but Meta Knight seems to be god mode.
In Melee and the Original Fox was pretty damn beastly. Nearly unbeatable in the hands of someone who new how to play him.
I'm really surprised at that tier collection-I've always been a Samus (traditional) fan, and at the height of my playing, no one could topple me when I played at her. Zero Suit Samus seriously depowered her though, effectively being the worst powerup in Brawl...GenericPCUser said:Meta Knight, he was the only one that they considered banning for competitive play though eventually decided not to after the best Meta Knight player (Mew2King) eventually did lose to other good players like Ally (American Snake) and Brood (Japanese Olimar)
For Brawl, I used to play the mid to low tiers like Pit, Ike, R.O.B., Olimar, Wolf, and Zelda.
After realizing Brawl was less balanced than Valve's seesaw puzzle in every Half-Life game, I went back to Melee and now main Zelda (Though not Shiek)

Tiers are for serious players who participate in tournaments and study the game. It's not really applicable to all the rest of us who just play to have fun.ShaggyEdiddy214 said:Kirby.
I literally got the silent treatment from both of my cousins for an hour for winning to much.
Off Topic for a second:How is Cap.Falcon the lowest teir? Although I did hear tiers were to show you how easy it is to master a character so in that case Im proud Im good with him.
The tier lists are meant for high-level play, really. If you were to enter a tournament you could have a safe bet that the winner would be in the S-A tier. It really expects that you know every characters strengths and weaknesses, and how to implement them, and so do your enemies, for the tier list to be accurate (aka: competitive gaming.)Verlander said:I'm really surprised at that tier collection-I've always been a Samus (traditional) fan, and at the height of my playing, no one could topple me when I played at her. Captain Falcon was one of those characters who had a rough transition from melee to brawl. Basically, with hitstun and the high speed physics in melee he could preform combos and avoid ko's, all this came together to make him a pretty high tier character. In brawl, the physics make hitting a sweet spot with his knee much harder to do, which was one of his reliable KO moves. The slower gameplay also means he is much easier to tech and track, especially while falling. And finally, the arrival of many more range characters to take advantage of the slow gameplay makes him have almost no approach game.ShaggyEdiddy214 said:Kirby.

The creators of SSB said they actually tried to make Melee balanced for competitive gamers, putting a lot of post-production work in to make sure every character had a good chance against the others. Still, it seems they more or less focused on a small portion of their characters for competitions while having the rest in for fan service.Azaraxzealot said:what i get from reading these comments is that japan doesn't know shit about balancing their metagames
