Are you serious? A vaccination of any kind wouldn't cause effects like that, because I guarantee you more people would've heard about it if it did. She talks normal when running? Gimme a break. Not to mention, it would've been more widespread than this one cheerleader. Given the only thing that sets her apart from other people is more activity, it should've also spread to all sports players, gymnasts, P.E. students, and anyone who plays DDR on a regular basis.

Also, why does it matter that she's a Cheerleader?
'Cause it's "tragic."

Now she can't ever achieve her dream, just like 99% of the rest of the world.

I must admit, I am of a similar opinion.
I have to agree. AND probably so 13 year old boys read the thread title and go 'OOOO CHEERLEADERS!!!' and click and read without thinking for a second..

But that's probably just me. And I laughed a bit inside.

one of the cures include "money"... it is psychological, my sister deals with these people every day.
Is a psychological problem not a medical condition that can cause physical symptoms? Also, I am sure if your sister is really a medical professional, as my wife also is, she would reserve judgement until she had a chance to study and examine this person. The doctors that did have said she has dystonia, which by all accounts is very real. Yeah, she could be faking, but I don't think you or I are in any position to be able to determine that with all certainty, right?

I think the guy was trying to say while it could be true (but doubtful) it isn't because of the flu shot, which is what was being it advertised as. He wasn't saying the disease itself is a hoax but the cause, or the fact that she has it even.

And wasn't the Balloon Boy Hoax orchastrated by the father? I seem to remember the son outing the dad on live TV..
Yeah, the hoax was orchestrated by the dad, but the other two kids must have come into play, I mean they were like 8 years old, there's no way they would have thought they were putting on a show. Maybe the little kid didn't know, but one of the brothers probably did.

What I was trying to say originally was people should refrain from calling her a *****. That was my whole point. Personally, I don't care if her disease is real or fake, it does not affect my life at all. I just don't like seeing people thinking they have such impunity to cowardly call a person names over the internet, it gets my goat. None of these people would say it to her face. She gets diagnosed with dystonia and people from around the world are going to attack her character? I'd like to think The Escapist can do better than that, myself.
Yeah I know what you mean with the whole annonymous insulting, it's kind of sad really.
Besides calling her a ***** is unnecessary.
Thank you two for getting to it before I could. Unfortunately, I fear that even if she had been homely and going nowhere, there would still have been people calling her names anyway.

It's.. it's just... sad. Either way. Fakies or no fakies, victim or not, the whole thing is sad.

At least she can run in her own fund-raising marathon, right? ...You heard nothing!

[sub]And don't think I don't see you derailers there. I saw what you did there. For six pages. (Not you two.^--) They know who they are.[/sub]

I'm in the same boat. It all seemed far too convenient how it works.

Overall though if it is real it just appears to be a psychological dysfunction that was just waiting for a catalyst to aggravate it. If it hadn't been the flu shot it likely would have been a shot of espresso or something else during her life.

Ya know, I have to say I'm amazed at how many medical professionals post on the Escapist.
It seems that every other post in this thread is by someone who knows exactly what problems flu vaccines can and cannot cause and what effects neurological damage can and cannot have...

Hundreds of people die from bad flu shots or whatever, and swine flu has killed plenty, but one sob story from a cheerleader and the world has to cry it's eyes out. Why is the media so fucking superficial?

I never planned to get a flu shot. I haven't had a flu in 19 years. My entire family could have the flu & I wouldn't catch it...I would get a cold instead.

[HEADING=1]Update[/HEADING]

I don't know if anyone has said this but she's been cured. Apparently it has been done by some alternative medicine therapy, which has lead some to the conclusion that it was not the flu shot that caused this but a phsycogenic trigger.

Rather like this gentleman predicted.

NB: This does not mean she is faking, she probably cannot control her symptoms.
