Hah, I knew getting any kind of shot was bad news. You never know what they might try out in the "flu shot". Anyway, this sucks for her and I hope she finds a way to get over it.

A) I don't actually believe this story

B) This isn't a cause-and-effect thing - it's a fear mongerer. If 500 or so people got it after the shot, then I would be worried, but this is one person.

and C) There is no proof in that that it was the shot that did it - if you actually listened, it was triggered 10 days after the vaccine, so that kinda trashes the whole story.

Edit: you know what? I'm going to copy + paste this on the youtube comments. See what reaction I get.
Did you get flamed?

Ahahahahahahahahah.
Sorry, but that was fucking funny.
I'm agreeing with the people saying it's fake though... It just seems too unlikely, and just plain weird.

The government is obviously planting a biological weapon in the flu shots, and observing the effects it has on people. Watch, she'll mysteriously disappear in 5 days, and the whole story is going to be covered up.
I hope your joking.
This isn't something to joke about, man!

Am I a bad person for laughing? A lot?

No I'm not scared of getting a flu shot. I'm scared I'll never see something funnier than that though.

It'll doubtlessly seem more tragic to some people. News programs and topical programs always pick their subjects carefully. There may be other people out there with this unfortunate condition, but the "attractive active young woman" card is the one most likely to elicit sympathy from the viewers.

It's like when I was watching part of Watchdog the other night where they were telling us how evil BT was. All the "victims" were either single mothers, heavily pregnant mothers or parents with young children who were able to cry and look upset on cue, all the better to highlight the immoral actions of the evil corporations. Such is the tabloid nature of these things...

This exactly. Something like this would've been all over the news pretty much everywhere if it was real.
It was on FOX a week ago.
So yeah....
FOX

seriously...FOX?

you cannot use FOX as a credible news source
I'm sorry for your inability to tell sarcasm over the internet.
But then again my phrasing was bad

I'm very curious about this. That is, I'm interested in her sudden illness, not in whether or not it was caused by a flu shot (spoiler alert: it wasn't). One interesting link I found is here:

http://ultimatecheerleaders.com/2009/10/desiree-jennings-update/

Yeah, what we find out is that she's disabled now, but apparently she can still run 8 kilometers in under an hour. I wonder what that makes me, seeing as I can't run one kilometer without stopping. Also, I couldn't help but find this section amusing:

Jennings says her condition is worsening. ?My neck and tongue are not moving anymore,? Jennings told reporters before the race, according to MyFOXDC. ?They?re paralyzed ? that started yesterday.?

I bet it would be horrible to have a paralyzed tongue. She'll probably lose the ability to eat or drink, she certainly won't be able to speak, she... wait...

I once saw a video of WW1 PTSD. The swine flue triggered her previous life.

That is more believable and credintial than the crap I saw in that video. And doesnt her marriage video make her and the husband look black? I thought the vaccine changed her skin color for a second.

Not related to the shot, no way that weak or dead bacteria rewire her brain like that, something else is screwing her up, but the shot is a handy dandy scape goat

It's too... convenient. A cheerleader turns into a jittery thing, but can still run and walk backwards? and that little walk of hers looked terribly put on. I got first call on this: in a few months she'll have "miraculously" overcome it and the ensuing popularity gets her a cheerleading career.

it would have been all over the news in heaps of countries and i live in New Zealand and i heard nothing of it.
My dear, that is probably the greatest statement made in this thread. NONE of us overseas have heard of this. If it was linked to the vaccine it would be worldwide, vaccines would stop being distributed etc. This proves one thing: American doctors know jack shit. In England we don't take this bullshit. The worst our national health service has seen is biscuit related injuries.
