Wow, I am shocked at the number of people calling her a *****. I wonder if it turns out that this is real and is dibilatating her like this, if all you people will come back and refute your comments or apologize, or how many will just sit by with a smug grin and say "whatever". Is it because she is a good-looking cheerleader and people have resentment for that, because I bet if this was just an elderly person or a child, people wouldn't be so quick with the hate.

It's too... convenient. A cheerleader turns into a jittery thing, but can still run and walk backwards? and that little walk of hers looked terribly put on. I got first call on this: in a few months she'll have "miraculously" overcome it and the ensuing popularity gets her a cheerleading career.
This, I just don't buy it.

its because the story sounds like a pile of BS? her first symptom was being unable to put food in her mouth without fainting. A weakened flu virus couldnt do that. Also its silly. Isnt that the first thing that occured to you. It never crossed our minds that the fact she was a cheerleader or young changed this a bit. However a child or an elderly person would be less inclined to make crap up and blame the flu shot. Even if this is real (which it might, im open to new and random disorders) relating it to the flu shot is stupid. Weakened flu viruses made it impossible for me to walk forwards and speak while not running. Yes. Perfect sense. In phantasmagoria land :D

Even if it was true, what is it? One person getting some weird disease, compared with how many thousands NOT dying from the flu? Overall, the flu shot is worth it.

First, I'm not a neurologist, so I have no idea if it sounds like "BS" or not. Maybe you have a better idea than me, however. Are you aware, however, of the plethora of strange diseases in the world, like the man that looks to be becoming a tree? All I'm saying is people really don't know, yet the first thing they do is attack her character. I was just proposing people would not be so quick to attack her if she wasn't a good-looking cheerleader, a category that I'm sure many in this forum would love the chance to project their anonymous rage onto. The first thing that occured to me, when I saw this, was if it is true it is terribly tragic. Also, remember balloon boy? Antics and trickery are most certainly not limited to any age group. i am sure I could find many stories of children and the elderly tricking people around them if I looked.

I think the guy was trying to say while it could be true (but doubtful) it isn't because of the flu shot, which is what was being it advertised as. He wasn't saying the disease itself is a hoax but the cause, or the fact that she has it even.

And wasn't the Balloon Boy Hoax orchastrated by the father? I seem to remember the son outing the dad on live TV..

Yeah, the hoax was orchestrated by the dad, but the other two kids must have come into play, I mean they were like 8 years old, there's no way they would have thought they were putting on a show. Maybe the little kid didn't know, but one of the brothers probably did.

What I was trying to say originally was people should refrain from calling her a *****. That was my whole point. Personally, I don't care if her disease is real or fake, it does not affect my life at all. I just don't like seeing people thinking they have such impunity to cowardly call a person names over the internet, it gets my goat. None of these people would say it to her face. She gets diagnosed with dystonia and people from around the world are going to attack her character? I'd like to think The Escapist can do better than that, myself.

Wow that sucks. I feel bad for her. Now her life is basically ruined. I've gotten the flu thing and I'm just fine but I feel bad for that girl.

I think what makes the video is the hilarious comments. Just go down and read some.

Yeah I know what you mean with the whole annonymous insulting, it's kind of sad really.
Besides calling her a ***** is unnecessary.

I don't believe it for a second.
This exactly. Something like this would've been all over the news pretty much everywhere if it was real.
It was on FOX a week ago.
So yeah....
FOX

seriously...FOX?

you cannot use FOX as a credible news source
I'm sorry for your inability to tell sarcasm over the internet.
But then again my phrasing was bad
i'm also sorry that i cannot tell sarcasm from a series of emotionless words, where i can so obviously use facial expressions, body language and voice tone to work sarcasm out :p

it is a mental problem caused by stress, she is not faking as it is real to her but it is not a physical illness. and NOT caused by the flu shot

my sister is a neurologist, most of her patents have this. she calls it "Can't walk syndrome"
Yeah, because there are people with a psychologically induced problem which results in trouble walking, that means that there absolutely positively cannot be a physically induced problem that has similar effects, right?
