Cheerleader suffers horrible side effect from the flu shot

Oh yeah, we were discussing this at the end of US History today. Poor woman. I never get flu shots, and I'm sure as hell not getting one now.

So, because an incredibly rare neurological disorder was triggered a full 10 days after a flu shot you'll take your chances with never being vaccinated against a disease that kills an average of 41,400 a year in the United States alone?

She may have also taken aspirin the very day symptoms occurred, does that mean you'll never take aspirin again? Better make sure you know what she ate for 2 weeks before this happened, as well. Have to extra cautious after all.

I'm tempted to write it off as complete bullshit. You'd need some really, really specific nerve damage to only affect walking forwards without affecting running or moving backwards

And I'm 99% sure it's real, in the clip they said they had doctors that tested her and determined what it was so I'm sure it's real.

You'd be amazed at how well people can exhibit symptoms they don't have if they're paranoid and think something bad's gonna happen. It's like a placebo effect, only less miracle and more hilariously specific impairment.

Not saying it can't be real, just saying it seems pretty unlikely that it'd only blow out the one specific function.

In fact, there would be FAR more people with the condition, if we go by Discworld logic.

I dunno what the hell Discworld is, but I'd put my money on this being:

A) a hoax
B) if it is real (doubtful) then I'd bet it wasn't triggered by the vaccine

I might get a flu shot for the hell of it, even though I really don't need one.

Not if the government wanted people to get the shot, it wouldn't.

A few people have DIED in Britain from the shot, and at least one Canadian... don't know the US stats...

May I be the first to say that if we find out that she is doing this just to get on reality t.v. there must be a riot inflicting physical harm.

Now then, if this is real, which I have no reason to suspect that it isn't, it will not stop me from getting flu shots when I feel I need to. The likelihood of this happening is rare and I do believe they said it was a pre-existing condition that was triggered by a flu shot, not directly cause by a flu shot.
