Like I said, a little jail time might give him a bit of time to think of some new, funnier sketches. It'll do him good.
That's the most ridiculous thing I ever heard. You're essentially saying that he should be jailed because you, you didn't find his material funny. No kids were harmed, no crime was committed, nothing illegal happened and they actually took him to jail. As a person with a degree in CRJ, I feel ashamed of my field. Our system has some major issues.

I agree he deserves some prison time, but not for the charges bought against him. He exploited the trust of the people who were involved and should get like 5 years for that but he is no threat to anyone and this does not require the full extent of a law that is being stretched to meet the situation (and a win could see it further stretched as well).
Lets hope they loose completely (though as said before he does deserve something, just not this charge)
Oh please .... jail time for a joke. A harmless joke.

Show me where there is a victim in any of this? Well, barring the accused of course. So if I poke someone with a novelty finger is that 3-5 years jail time just because I forgot to say "Oh, I'm abou to poke you. Here it comes. Waaaahhh!"

'Exploited the trust"....

I guess that would also mean the death of investigative journalism, undercover cops and, well, 95% of shit on TV because tv adverts keep telling me the shows I watch are 'Explosive' and 'Epic' ... 'All-Star Cast' ... and other inane and incorrect bullshit.

Please ... jail time for telling harmless fibs ... are you on crack?

He even sung for the kids and evidently was given permission to videotape the students ... which I think is the biggest concern... But the point stands, kids got a song, he got his video. He decids to use it as a stock audience shot in a funny movie he makes.

Where exactly are the victims here?

Wait so he was charged not because he produced child-porn, but rather because he let it look like?... that's beyond ridiculousness... either that or his lawyer just sucked...

So if I recorded a video of me saying to camera "I'M GUNNA FUCK YOOO!" and then spliced it with footage of a kid looking horrified I'm a peadophile who deserves to be locked up for TWENTY YEARS?!
Go for it dude.
I never thought I would utter this phrase, but.. "I've got nothing better to do this afternoon, I'm going to record some child pornography."

...Fuck it, lets all do it, they can't put us all behind bars. Be a nonse* for freedom!

*British slang for paedo

I'm fairly sure they'll find him not guilty- i still have some faith in humanity.
I don't. I hope you're right, though.

20 years for something like this breaks every boundary of sense and reason, if you ask me. Poorly thought out as the skit was (he probably should have asked the parent's permission before he put their childrens' likenesses up on the internet in his video) it doesn't warrant any jail time, let alone 20 years.

The judicial system as it is right now is a sick joke.

Let's see.

Parents say this will have a huge impact on their children.

Children were never actually exposed to his dirty song.

Guy is now paedophile.

FAIL.

If anything, he should be charged for not having the permission of the kids parents to edit them into his video, not fucking child pornography.

What the hell is wrong with Americans? You're so obsessed with pedophilia and child porn you see it everywhere! Present company excluded of course. Geeks seem to be the only sane people in America left.
You know how they always say gay haters and homophobics are really acting like that to hide their homosexual feelings?

SAME THING.

Skip to about 0:35, same Deal, red them a normal story and dubbed over it, 0 complaints.

These people are doing infinitely more to degrade how evil Paedophiles than any 4chan joke. Knowing they're willing to label someone who made some shitty youtube vid where in no child was in anyway harmed with the same label as someone who sexually abuses children is so unbelievably stupid... god...

one question no one seems to be asking here is did he get the permission of the parents to use the footage from the first video (which he would have needed their permission to record) in the second video? i dont really know how the law works on that issue in the us, but as far as i know, here in britain, you need permission from parents to record their children for any purpose, even when filming your own child such as at a school play (stupid but true) and you would certainly need permission to re-edit the footage. everyone is bringing up tv shows in the defence of this guy but they certainly have the permission of the children's parents and the kids are more than likely actors who are being paid anyway.

the problem these days is you have to be very careful with what you say and do. i perform part time as a stand up comic and the other night i was doing a show where i made a joke about american attitudes to mexicans when someone called me racist. i countered it by saying "to be honest i was going for cutting cultural satire" which got a laugh but it became a bit of a struggle to get some people back on side and i only had them all 15 mins later at the end of the set.

the lesson really is that you have to analyse everything from all angles to see what you might be accused of because no matter what someone will take offense. i dont think this guy deserves 20 years in jail or the stigma of a child porn charge and/or conviction but he does need to think in future about the legal implications of what he's doing.
I'm pretty sure that British law says that you need permission to film children if they are the purpose of what is being filmed (there is no clear rule). You can legally show a classroom of students on TV without any individual's permission in particular, but it there is emphasis on one specific pupil, you need permission from their legal guardian. There are also laws on fair use which apply to copyrighted material and the rules for showing children are similar. Of course, it is completely legal to film and show live a busy street filled with pedestrians even if there are children. They do this on news channels all the time.

If this song was filmed in a British school it would probably be legal.

I want to punch somebody

Seriously, even if he had singed the song in front of the children, how is saying sex in front of them child pornography?
And the only way for the kids to be affected would be to watch the video he uploaded on youtube, which they probably have now that everyone made such a fuss about it.

PS: can somebody link me to the video, it sound hilarious.

If anything its a fine.... or like 10 hours community service.

How can these fucking people actually believe that shutting someone in a box for 20 years is the right thing to do!?

A nice example of what I keep saying. The law is not a tool for helping the victims, it's a way to make them.

Not always true of course, but the ratio of victims helped to victims made seems to slip a little more every day.

Laws punishing victimless crimes are common, despite how frightening that may sound. Seriously, when this is how much people react to the notion that someone could make a humorous video that has been edited to appear to have children in a non-G rated circumstance, it's a little unnerving to know you could go to jail and have your life destroyed without ever harming a fly.

Bah! I await the inevitable day society destroys itself; hopefully I'll live to see the end of this abomination.
