After all it's more widely believed in then most of the other gods in this rp and it's most people first experience with the super natural.
If not I'll see if I have any other ideas.
Unfortunately not sorry - just for the sake of character cohesion. There's no literacy or art on it (at least that I know of/can draw on), or known limits/powers, or relations with other Gods.

Psychical: Standing about 5 foot 10 inches, she has a rather thin form, very haunting when in brightly lit areas. However, the paleness of her skin lends itself to being beautiful when in darker places. Her figure again, very slim, but still manages to be appealing. Her hair is a jet black that's darker than night itself with a set of silver eyes. Her fingernails are naturally black, same with her lip color being naturally black as well.
In direct sunlight (aka wherever it touches her skin), she is usually asked if she's ok, because she tends to look a bit sickly and unwell, as if she's about to pass out.

Clothing: She usually wears a set of black cargo pants, a white tank top and a set of black and grey sneakers. This is usually framed by a black and grey hoodie with a skull on the front of it.

Items: On her back is a small pole, one of the few gifts from her mother besides her existence. It extends to a full six feet in legnth and is made of an unknown substance that is seemingly impossible to break (she hasn't found anything of this mortal world that can break it, not even high explosives.) This pole is also a means to communicate with her mother. She can communicate telepathically through it, or out loud as well.


Ouside of that, she has a little doll, it's shaped in the form of her mother and decorated as such. One side of the doll is stunningly beautiful while the oposite side is looked to be rotting and decayed. It's something she made herself and is strong proud and defensive of it.


-Personality:
Can be a bit bitchy if someone first meets her and they annoys her. However, she is fairly nice and friendly once you get to know her.


-Power: Being the daughter of one of the elder shinto gods, she is fairly powerful when in her death form.

Her body is naturally resistant to taking damage and can be put through a bit before actually breaking. (thanks to her mother predicting the physical abuse her father would lash out.) and she may not be the fastest, but a hard punch from her is like getting hit by a pool ball thrown by a major league baseball pitcher.

Death form: Sana also has a death form, one which grants her immense power. her strength becomes that of a freight train, her ability to preceive everything somewhat clearer and her stamina seemingly endless. Her body also becomes immune to pain and nearly impossible to break, cut or bruise.

Sana's appearance changes as well. Her clothing lights aflame with a black fire, spreading over her body and creating a vortex of black flames around her. When it dies down, she is cloaked in a cloak mixed with a kimono of blackness, the fabric of it resting atop her body and appearing to burn at it's edges. Her hair becoming a brilliant bone white with her pole taking on the shape of a scythe, its edge honed and blackened, giving off small wisps of black flame.See this for close appearance. Her scythe in this form, when it contacts something, will simply leave it onfire with black flames in the areas it touched. (note, flames do not spread to other things, not throw off heat detectable by other things, just cook through what it has touched. also, these are harder to put out than a grease fire.) It also has the ability to drink in souls of those it makes the killing blow on, granting itself and Sana more power each time it feeds. (maybe even some new latent abilities dealing with its black flames, who knows?)

While this form may grant her a simply massive amount of power, it has it's limits and drawbacks:

First off, there's the soft-time limit she can stay in the form. She has trained herself to being able to stay in this form for at most without any repercussions, five minutes. She can go over this limit either by sheer willpower, or if her emotions essentially break her limit and demand she head back into the form. If she overstays her welcome in it though, random and rather sharp pains start appearing her body, at random places in it.

Secondly, While it says she is immune to pain, she really isn't. What happens in this form, is that her body shoves the pain to the side and it stores away. any hits she may take, get taken and put with it. and the random pains in her body, if she pushes the form further, is doubled after she changes back. And ontop of that, the rest of the pain from the damage comes crashing down on her, usually leaving her unable to move from the sheer amount of it, or if it's bad enough, knocking her out.

Third, this is usually a once a day thing. If the demand rises up to use her form once again, she'll meet it, but will most likely pass out after this second transformation. The only exceptions to this are when she barely uses the form(maybe a minute or two, then turns back.) The form drains a rather large amount of stamina from her after she falls out of it, this also leaving her rather vulnerable.

Fourth: Her healing factor is almost non existent. Meaning that while she's a bit tougher and can take many hits before actually being damaged, when she's hit she doesn't heal. What might take a few days to heal for a normal person takes a month for herself. However, this is vast sped up so long as she takes the life of something living. Proportional to the wound, she must consume a life. Small things like a paper cut or a scratch might require her to squash a bug, while the breaking of an arm might require her to take out something larger, a raccoon sized animal maybe. (Note: she can take out creatures larger than the wound requires, but it does not heal her more than the wound, or improve her.)




Minor Attributes:

Soul Finder: AS she is the daughter of death, she can see the souls of people in a short radius around herself. Roughly ten feet or so, through just about any object. However, this isn't always reliable as she can see both living and the souls of ghost and cannot distinguish between the two if viewing them through something. She cannot communicate with the souls of those who have passed, but is capable of picking up and read little personality traits of the person.


Born Killer: knows how to guide the souls of people and gods alike to the afterlife, in many different ways. This ofcourse meaning that she is rather capable and smart with fighting. However, her determination can cloud her mind at times and leave her open to do stupid things.

Knowledge of the dead: she can generally determine how a person was killed. Along with this, she could grasp what kind of person that they were, meaning personality and what they'd do., their true selves.



History:

When izanami died, she passed her spirit into two beings, an animal and a human. The line of humans eventually spread around the world and the blood usually not strong enough to allow her to possess anyone of them.
however, after death, their bodies decomposing and becoming similar to the way the goddess was, allows her to possess them if she feels a connection to her life strong enough through them. This is where Sana's story begins.

Let's get the blunt things out of the way first. Sana's father was a necrophiliac, he liked getting his freak on with corpses. Sana's mother was a descendant of said previously mentioned line of people. Needless to say, luck was against sana's father when he chose his date for that night, as when he was getting his freak on, Izanami's spirit could sense this, mistaking it for the love of her husband, she traveled towards the descendant that this was originating from.

That's when the corpse woke up. She wasn't decomposing, but she was still cold and shouldn't have been alive. sana's father noticed this when a hand gripped the back of his neck. Needless to say, he freaked out and tried to leave the room, screaming and panicking, just like her husband had done. That's when Izanami decided she'd leave this man with a burden and a curse. There was no escape for him.

Nine months later, sana was in the man's life now. she was raised, heading to school, but being a recluse there due to what was happening at home. Almost dailer, her now alcoholic father would beat her, cursing her for everything wrong in his life. While he may have been right, this was never the answer. So one day, when she had enough, she snapped, her powers awakening inside of her.

Needless to say, it wasn't pretty. She wound up killing her father, gaining the first soul for her scythe. This is when her mother revealed herself to her, the godess finally having a strong enough link to come through. The goddess, having gone dark from the rest of the gods, so long ago, finally had a window to the world. So, with her mother at her side, she trained and wandered the U.S. all while leaving her home town on long island, New York, USA.

Her mother helped her learn to control her powers, as well as taught her about her family history, atleast on her side of the tree. Sana made money around the country, speaking at funerals as a speaker of the dead, the final one to put words over someone's body. To tell everyone what kind of a person they truly were. she made sure not to do it too much, lest she get famous and draw attention. Still now, she roams around, looking for something she can make her mother proud of doing, all while remaining a rather healthy relationship with her.

other notes:
knows japanese and english, the former thanks to her mother. has come to take a liking to anime, finding the representation of her mother and siblings amusing. Her mother still refuses to comment on it.

I'm already in the RP so I'm fine with this char not getting in especially if it means we get more new players, but its an idea I had a bit ago and wanted to try.

Name: Henry Suthers

Gender: Male

Age: 35

Parent-god: Dionysus

Appearance: Tall and fit, he has dark hair which he keeps short, and a light beard. He is fairly tan in skin tone, has bright blue eyes, and is generally described as handsome. He tends to dress in a professional manner, white shirt, black pants, and the like.

Personality: Generally a fairly light hearted but mature individual Henry takes particular pride in being responsible and is a skilled and devoted leader. He likes to give advice but is fully aware that people make their own mistakes, and does not tend to judge others harshly or badger them with his opinion, though he does sometimes have trouble accepting when he might be wrong.

Power:
Empowering Madness- Henry can induce a state of madness in himself, that brings with it great strength and power. While in it his natural strength and talents are increased greatly, and he seems to gain an understanding of some things he normally does not, however he has greatly reduced self-control in this state and little recollection of what he did in it after it ends.

Minor Attributes:

Wine- Henry has an acute taste for quality when it comes to drinks, alcoholic ones in particular, and can tell a great deal about such from tasting them. He also has some skill at making wine and other drinks, as well as in mixing cocktails, a skill he further developed as a bartender.

Liberation- Henry is difficult to contain, and has some skill as an escape artist. Indeed he is skilled at helping others to escape from bonds as well, though both are skills he rarely exercises.

Ruler- Henry has a natural sense of authority about him and is skilled as a leader, people tend to follow him more readily than they might otherwise and find him easy to respect as an authority figure.

History:
Henry was for much of his young life a very wild spirit, unaware of his powers or his parentage he sought to enjoy life to the fullest. His mother was a recovering alcoholic, which did force a sense of responsibility on him at a young age though, as he often had to take care of her. Eventually even going to college on her wishes, though he was never certain what he wanted to do in the future and changed degrees frequently. He enjoyed college life a great deal though making many new friends and going to, and more often throwing, the best and wildest parties.

His life changed drastically though when he knocked a girl up at one of these parties, his sense of responsibility reawakened he did his best to help support her and the child, which she decided to keep. This led to him dropping out of college and working as a bartender for some time, a job he actually greatly enjoyed, to support her, and eventually to them getting married. To this day he remains a faithful husband and a devoted father, though recent events have forced him away from his family.

He was made aware of his heritage and powers when Dionysus approached him trying to gain his allegiance in his coming plan, Henry refused and Dionysus stripped him of the powers he had only just taught him and departed. Henry was greatly weakened by this and was ill for some time, and distraught at not being able to stop his father?s plan. When Dionysus was defeated though he felt his powers and strength return, and now is determined to make a difference in matters of the gods if he can, to make up for his inability to act before.

Appearance: Standing at a height of 6?5? and with a muscular build, Jonathan has the body of a warrior. He has green eyes and black hair which he keeps in a war-hawk style of haircut and has pale coloured skin due to his Irish descent. At nearly all points of the day or night, Jonathan has an angry look plastered across his face. This look is mainly due to either his uncontrolled anger or his dissatisfaction at the lack of violence in his present situation. Jonathan usually wears a pair of cameo trousers, boots and a black T-shirt with an image of a white skull on it. He also regular wraps his fists in bandages to protect them, as he constantly uses them when he is in a fight.

Personality: An incredible angry and physical individual, Jonathan prefers to solve his problems with violence rather than words, something which stems from his severe anger issues. A strong willed man and rarely backs down from a situation or changes his mind unless it is clearly obvious. Honest to the point of brutality, Jonathan has a strong sense of honour despite his heavy use of violence and will always try to up keep it, in whatever situation he finds himself in.

Power: Battle fury: When Jonathan is in the heat of battle his physical and combat abilities are greatly increased by his inherited ability; he gains almost super natural strength and toughness, which allow him to deal heavy damage to any opponent and allow him to shrug off all but the most devastating of injuries.

Minor Attributes:

1. Martial arts ? In an attempt to better use and control his anger, Jonathan has studied and became familiar in a range of martial arts, his main three being Taekwondo, Kick-boxing and Pankration. This large bank of self-defence knowledge gives him the ability to combat and defeat a wide range of opponents.

2. Strong ? Born with a powerful physique. Jonathan is able to secure victory over any opponent in matters of strength even without the gifts of his mother coming into play.

3. Baking ? Jonathan gained this unlikely skill in an attempt by his councillor to help him better control his anger. It didn?t work, but Jonathan discovered that he was quiet talented in the baking arts and he even became quite well known for his delicious bread, much to his dismay as he would rather have people know him for his fighting abilities.

A strong willed man and rarely backs down from a situation or changes his mind unless it is clearly obvious. Honest to the point of brutality, Jonathan has a strong sense of honour despite his heavy use of violence and will always try to up keep it, in whatever situation he finds himself in.

Power: Battle fury: When Jonathan is in the heat of battle his physical and combat abilities are greatly increased by his inherited ability; he gains almost super natural strength and toughness, which allow him to deal heavy damage to any opponent and allow him to shrug off all but the most devastating of injuries.

This large bank of self-defence knowledge gives him the ability to combat and defeat a wide range of opponents.

2. Strong ? Born with a powerful physique. Jonathan is able to secure victory over any opponent in matters of strength even without the gifts of his mother coming into play.

3. Baking ? Jonathan gained this unlikely skill in an attempt by his councillor to help him better control his anger. It didn?t work, but Jonathan discovered that he was quiet talented in the baking arts and he even became quite well known for his delicious bread, much to his dismay as he would rather have people know him for his fighting abilities.

I'm gonna follow RT's example and post what I have (everything's done but age and history) to test the waters while I wrap this up. Hooray for obscure deities and combat empaths.
Name: Faith (Real Name: Helen McAvore)

Age: Not sure yet, but I'm thinking somewhere between 20-22.

Gender: Female

Parent God: Hense, the goddess of pain and pleasure

Appearance: The first things you'll notice upon looking at Faith are her scars. She has a lot of scars. They cover every inch of her otherwise striking self, crisscrossing in no particular manner or pattern. The scars themselves vary quite a bit, as well. Some are cuts and others burns, and some are large with others small. They even differ in intent, as Faith at times willingly scarred herself while other scars are the result of some trauma forced upon her. If it were possible to look under the scars and to the person, then one would see a rather conventionally attractive young woman with bold crimson hair, a gently angular visage and blood-red eyes that can stare straight through yours and peer upon your soul.
Moving on to artificial adornments, Faith's wardrobe primarily contains clothing that fits her loosely as she's not a fan of tight or restrictive clothing. Other than that, Faith doesn't have much of a typical outfit or color to fall back on. As a result, she's accumulated an interesting collection of clothes over time and she takes advantage of that.
Although she avoids traditional armaments due to hubris and practicality, Faith has over time honed her fingernails into points and sharpened them. Not to the point where she could draw blood while scratching an itch, but if she gets a hold on exposed skin (human-level thickness skin, anyways) Faith will draw blood if she wants to.
Her two more notable possessions that she carries around with her are a stuffed bull she gave to her father, then it found its way back to her after her father's death. The second is a set of ten idols from her mother, so that Faith may never forget where she came from.

Personality: She's a woman of many hats, so to speak. Off the top of her head, Faith can recall times when she's been coy, aggressive, a virgin, shy, passive, flirtatious, austere, nymphomanical, manipulative, abusive, hedonistic, and so on and so forth; you get the point. At her core, though, Helen is an introvert trapped in the shell of extroversion. At least, that's what she thinks; she's not sure yet. The reason for her uncertainty is mostly trepidation; Faith is afraid of what she'll see when she stares into the mirror too hard.

Power: She's kind of an empath and kind of an emotion manipulator. I say "kind of" because of three limitations: 1: Faith is only capable of manipulating and sensing either the pain or pleasure someone feels and 2: Faith can't generate those feelings in her targets or eradicate them; they have to already be feeling some sort of pain/pleasure and 3: She can't "convert" one type of pain/pleasure into another, i.e., she can't turn the agony of a kidney stone into depression/angst, nor could she turn sexual pleasure into the satisfaction of accomplishing something important. Other than those restrictions though, she's capable of doing pretty much anything with her power (including, in theory, the ability to push emotions to insanity-inducing levels).

Minor Attributes:
1) Self Defense: Her father forced her to take some self-defense/martial arts classes when she was younger and despite her distaste for them, the basics stuck with her. When she started to get more familiar with her power and incidentally be exposed more often to dangerous situations, she adapted what she remembered to mesh better with her power. This resulted in a "style" that is based around injury avoidance and quick contact, as the slightest nick gives Faith a chance to incapacitate her opponent with pain.
2) People Skills: While her heritage grants her good control over pain/pleasure, she still needs to be able to take an inch before she can run off with a mile. With this in mind, Faith learned the best ways to elicit pain/pleasure in others. She can cause either with a touch, and Faith taught herself ways to incite the desired responses with verbal means. This doesn't make her a master social manipulator by any means because she doesn't have the head for that level of coordination, but it makes tricking and duping small groups or individuals easier.
3) Faith is a classically trained pianist.

History: In progress. Don't worry, it'll be suitably tragic and all that jazz.
Question: how exactly are the accepted characters joining up with the party? There was a rather detailed description in the first recruitment thread, yet none here. I ask in case I'll need to edit at some point.

Also, I started writing this before hiei's post, so I was unaware that you guys already had 1.5 empaths in the group. I'll still stick with Faith though, as I like the character and she is more than a little different from Etna and Aria.

Appearance: 5?7? 182 pound man. Slightly curly flaming red hair on his head and a very curly red beard. He has piercing bright green eyes and a nose that is bent in more than one place form being broke so many times over the years. His arms and chest brown from being under the sun for hours at a time every day. Said arms thin and extremely defined with muscles, the same going for his chest and the rest of his body. Not building large muscles but instead they compressed and now are rock hard on his body. Scars cover his arms and chest, criss crossing each other and varying depths and widths.

Calf high combat boots laced up and cargo camo pants tucked into them. A green ?Kiss me I?m Irish? shirt and a large leather coat with several inside pockets. Thick leather belt on the back is a holster with his gun and 2 13 round mag?s, as well as one already inside the gun. When wearing his sword it is on his right hip halfway down it it is tied to his leg to keep it from bouncing around. When he is unable to wear it, which is usually in this country, he carry?s it and the gun with a dozen of extra mag?s of ammo for any time when he needs more than 40 bullets.

Personality:

Power: Arms Master; Weapons and armor are innately known to him. Through his father?s influence any weapon or armor type thing he holds onto for longer than 3 minutes he gains perfect use and understanding of it. This starts within seconds of grasping or having it touch him and full understanding of the use and anything else at the end of the 3 minutes. This knowledge fades at the same rate it is absorbed. His own personal weapons and armor are easier to understand over the years of training he has been using them. (one sword, one gun.)

Minor Attributes:
Luck of the Irish; for someone whos parent isn?t the god of luck his luck is unusually high. Well aimed bullets miss or hit superficial spots, dice roll well for him, and in cards he has a better than even chance of winning.

Appearance: She stands at an even 6 foot tall, long black hair, bright green eyes and dark skin tone, and facial features common to females of Egyptian decent, her 'k9' teeth are slightly longer, more a kin to fangs as well as feline tail like those found on a Lioness, only black like her hair, and she does make an effort to hide the more feline like parts of her anatomy, with varying success, only those closest to her get an unrestricted view of how she really looks.

Her fashion sense can be a bit all over the place, but the consistent is anything that's 'easy to move in', and sunglasses, long as the out fit meet that requirement she really doesn't care what it is. The Bladed staff she favors was a gift from her mother, and thus forged by the gods, her throwing knives, where not, those are just man made throwing knives.

She has a highly athletic build, similar to that of most professional fighters on the heavy end of the light weight class, meaning she favors speed and agility to raw strength, and does strive to maintain her level of fitness, she also has her mothers symbol tattooed on her right upper arm.

Personality: Rias is a warrior at heart, and not one to let slights against her, her friends, or her family slide with out some form of response, usually, in the form of a beating, this also makes her rather fearless. When she's not handing out beat downs, or generally knocking people dumb enough to screw with her around, she surprisingly well tempered, perfectly capable of acting 'normal', she however has a hair trigger on what can set her off.

As the child of a Goddess so closely identified with war, she is a natural warrior, this means she is a natural Weapons Master, you can put any weapon in her hand or no weapon at all and she'll be able to fight at the level of a Master, however prefers a bladed staff and throwing knives to any other load out.

Vengeance:
While she is vindictive by nature, she actually gets a boost if in the presence of the person that is responsible for the insult or harm done her, or her loved ones by a factor of 5. The way it works is like this, guy A orders guy B to hurt person C, person C being some one Rias cares about or Rias her self. After the attack, Rias will hunt down guy B, but NOT get the passive boost unless or until she encounters guy A, at which point the boost kicks in.

Healing:
Rias has some healing capability?s, however it is difficult for her to use for two major reasons. The first is it is very hard on her to heal other people, for reasons she's not totally sure on, it is much more draining to heal some one else then it is to just heal her self. The second is, she lacks the medical training to really take advantage of it, as there was an instance where an EMT friend of hers who knew 'about her' couched her through a medical emergency and her power was much more effective for the energy spent.

Other: Her tail effects her balance, effectively making her capable of acrobatic feats that would leave others in the dirt. Her Hearing and Low Light Vision are also above a normal human level. Her hearing is on par with an average house cat, as is her vision, but this also mean she has a much lower tolerance for bright lights, thus she wears sunglasses a lot of the time.

She also speaks ancient Egyptian and reads Hieroglyphics fluently.

History:

How her father, Johnathan Blake, a now retired Sargent in the US Marine Corp, managed to get into bed with an Egyptian goddess, is unknown, even to him, though his best guess is a Halloween party some where. Only Sekhmet her self knows the full of it and she doesn't speak of it past 'it a very enjoyable experience'.

What is know is what happened several months to a year later. The Sargent was summoned to some temple where he had a proper face to face with the goddess and handed their daughter by the goddess her self and was told, 'I can not raise her here, fore she it not a full goddess her self, but I can not abandon my post ether, even for the relatively short time it would take to raise her to adult hood on the mortal plain. Thus, it falls to you, her father, to bring her up. Should she ask of me, tell her that my situation made me unfit to raise her, however, should my influence start being to make it self know in her, bring her to my temple or what is left of it rather, in Leontopolis, the place you now call 'Tell al Muqdam' and before he had a chance to really object, or even get a decent question out, with a tap of her staff on the stone floor, he was right back where he was before. Which fortunately, his parents place, during leave for Christmas. Merry Christmas indeed.

When he told is family what had happened, they natural, though he was high or something, or wanted to, the presence of the infant kinda forced them to believe the story especially given he just vanished a short time prior, and given the description they where able to quickly match that to the Goddess Sekhmet. The family, simply adapted to the new addition, Johnathan's sister, Jessica took her while he was deployed and he had her at all other times. Her name come from 'well it kinda sorta sounds Egyptian right?' only to find out later, it wasn't and it was just made up, not that Rias her self minded, her name was as different as she was, and those differences became abundantly clear when she was thirteen, when her tail started to grow in, and she lost what she though where her adult canines. She also started getting much better at fighting, as well as much more aggressive, but at the same time, she also found she could heal wounds, on her self and others.

Post change wasn't as hard on her as it could have, been, hiding a tail turned out to be rather easy, it was her emerging, more violent nature, combine with her increasing fighting ability where of great concern. She lost friends for a time but and the concern surrounding her turned out to be only partly justified, while she did take to handing out beatings like it was her job, she rarely, if ever left any permanent harm. With some anger management classes, and a bit of jail time, she learned to keep a lid on her violent tendency?s, mostly besides, her reputation meant she rarely had to do more then give a look of 'I'm not gonna have smack a ***** am I?' to get the desired effect. Her mellowing out also meant she started making more friends again.

After she turned fifteen, Johnathan having had to wait due to the whole family wanting to go, and that's not a cheap trip, Johnathan, his sister Kathleen, their parents Barbra and Mathew, took all took Rias on the long awaited flight to Egypt. In a funny coincidence, the whole family managed to get seating close to each other, though they wrote it off as Sekment 's influence on the situation.

After checking in to the hotel they booked rooms at, and getting a map and a Taxi, they group headed off to what was the site of Sekhmet's temple, and it was there the Goddess met them. Rias wanted to be mad at her, after all, she did abandon her, and made no effort to contact her when she quite clearly was able to take enough time off to get knocked up, but as Sekhmet greeted them, then began to speak to them and answer a few questions, Rias couldn't find it in her to hate her, or really be mad. The more she listened the more she heard, not a proud goddess, but some one who sounded trapped in their position and had wanted to rise her offspring her self, which promoted her to give her mother a hug, which Sekhmet did return after a moment and the surprise lifted. There was a few moments of silence just out of respect for the moment, after all, she hadn't held her daughter since she was an infant. The Goddess left them a short time later, and a few days of 'tourist-ing' later, the Blakes headed home as well.

Since then Rias has lived rather quietly, barring the occasional beat down she had to hand out as a response to some one screwing with her friends or family. Her Mother did not simply fade from her life this time ether, though their time together is limited to a few days a year, she did get to spend time with her mother, how they spent that time varied but one constant was sparring with her chosen weapons. While Rias has no problem with the 'peace' that has settled over the world, she makes no secret of the fact she yens for a battle against the monsters of old.

Yeah, outside of death form, she can heal with souls. While in it, she cannot. I'll edit that in for you. But this proposes the dilemma, keep the stregnth, keep fighting and the power shile she's injured and losing blood, or drop out of the form and search for something to heal with.

Name: Elisa Bjorndottir

Appearance: Elisa is very short; rising to only a hair over 5ft tall. Her hair is bright blond and her eyes light blue - both almost unnaturally so. Her skin is white, but always seems to have a greenish tinge to it. In addition, her eyes are rather snake like giving her a off-putting appearance. She dresses almost exclusively in black, with purple and green accents - favoring long victorian-esk dresses and stockings.

Personality: Elisa is one of the most sickeningly sweet and kind people you will ever meet. She'd happily give the shirt off her back to a stranger in need. She is generally a wonderful person and hates anything violent or unruly. An eternal optimist, it's almost impossible to keep her down for long. She smiles constantly and wears her emotions on her sleeve. She loves anything "cute" and has been known to spend enormous amounts of money on frivolous things because she finds them adorable. She has a particular love for cute dragon plushes - she's not sure why.

Power: Serpent's Walk: Elisa's connection to the powerful beast is potent. Because the Serpent is wrapped around the Midgard, she's able to walk "on top" of her father to nearly any location in the world instantaneously. She must be in contact with water to use this ability, though this water need not be physically connected to the ocean (thus she carries a bottle of water with her). She in turn can appear from anywhere where there is water. While the water she enters to teleport must be very pure (at least Sea Water level pure), the exit water can be of any purity. If this water is inside something too small to contain her, she either bursts free from the container or the container crushes her - depending on what it is. While she can appear from people (who are 70% water) she cannot use this power to actually harm someone.

Minor attributes:
Immense Weight: Just as the Midgard Serpent's weight is nigh-impossible to measure, Elisa weighs far more than her size would suggest. She's as dense as concrete, though her body still feels in all ways like a normal human body (i.e. her skin feels like normal skin, she just weights more). To maintain this mass (and her powers), she must drink enormous amounts of water per day. Her current weight is nearly 2000 lbs. This increased weight puts her at the stronger end of the demi-god range. Her "Olympian-like" strength is higher than the average demigod's, but still within the demi-human range (i.e. she's not gonna be able to punch out Thor or a demi-god with super-strength as a main power, but she can hold her own against most others)

Endurance: Jormungand is destined to fight Thor to their mutual demise. As such, the beast is able to take hits no other being could withstand. Elisa has been gifted a tiny fraction of this endurance, allowing her to withstand forces many times greater than a normal human. While hardly invulnerable - weapons will still harm her - she can withstand such onslaughts much longer than other creatures and can maintain movement for a longer period of time. Her "Olympian-like" endurance is higher than the average demigod's, but still within the demi-human range.

Serpent Touch: The blood of the Midgard Serpent flows through her veins. Unlike normal demigods, she has some reptilian traits - mostly the look of her eyes and skin. She "sheds" her skin in large patches several times per year. Each time she does, her weight increases slightly as does her size, though the difference is miniscule. The main result of this trait however is making Elisa appear somewhat diseased looking.

History: Astra Bjorndottir was a fisherwoman living in North Head, Maine. She'd lived on the ocean all her life as had her parents and their parents before them. She was an expert at the art of sailing and fishing, having spent most of her life on the waves in search of lobster. She knew how to weather the worst of storms and all the best places to make her catches. That's why it was such a shock when, one cold clear December evening, her boat failed to return to port. Many search parties were sent out from the small town, but none found any evidence of her or her ship. It was as though the sea had swallowed her up. Everyone in the tiny town had given up hope when, three weeks later, she walked back into town without a single memory of what had happened.

Needless to say, the entire town celebrated her return and, before the week was out, they'd raised enough money to get her another boat. For a time, things returned to normal in the small town. No one expected what was to come. It was a month before Astra realized something was wrong and another month before she worked up the courage to discuss the unforeseen truth with anyone. She was pregnant without the slightest idea who the father was.

To the small New England town, it was a great embarrassment. Suddenly, the town felt they'd been betrayed. Where they thought Astra'd been shipwrecked and washed ashore by the grace of God, now they knew she'd been off "cavorting" with some secret lover and tricked her friends and family out of their hard earned money.

The next few months of the pregnancy left the town broken and resentful. That is, until the day of delivery. Nearly nine months after disappearing from their town, she was giving birth to Elisa. The moment Elisa entered the world, it shook. The earth seemed to rage against the new child, bringing the town to it's knees. The sea seemed to churn and boil and all manner of sea life beached itself to avoid the horrors of the deep. Many of the towns older buildings crashed to the ground during the quake, including the small proctorship where Astra was giving birth. Astra lost her life in the quake, but Elisa lived.

Though the town held little love for what Astra had done, none could fault Elisa for the actions of her mother and, though some of the more superstitious townsfolk thought the quake was a sign from God, many were willing to help raise the child. Or rather, they were until their eyes lay upon the small child. The small girl was strange and alien it seemed; with inhuman eyes and sickly skin. Between the damage of the quake, the superstition, the actions of Astra, and her daughter's strange appearance, none were willing to take in the child. With no next of kin, she was sent south and put up for adoption in an orphanage in Augusta.

Elisa moved between foster homes for much of her younger youth. Because of the constant instability in her life and her weird appearance, she developed as a child with few friends and family. To compensate, she did everything she could to make others like her - always doing acts of kindness in hopes of being accepted. It never seemed to work, but to this day she keeps trying.

The one fortune she had was the orphanage. Between several anonymous donors (most people from North Head who regretted not helping her as a child) and medical professionals interested in her strange skin, eye, and weight condition, the orphanage never lacked money and she was able to squirrel away a small sum of money for her own needs. It was because of these fund that, when she turned 18 and left the orphanage, she was able to travel to her birth-home of North Head. She wanted to visit her mother's grave and find out what she could about her family - perhaps ferreting out her father and the cause of her disease.

She spent nearly a week searching the small town to no avail. No one in town shared any of her distinct appearance and even her mother's grave was no longer present (given no one existed to maintain the site). She was about to give up and head south to try and make a life of her own when, on a whim, she went down to the docks. She was just planning to look at the waves and wonder what her mother thought of the sea. However, when she touched the water, the world shook once more. Though nowhere near as violent as the quake of her birth, it was no less dramatic. The world shifted and turned as she looked. It took her a split second to remove her hand from the sea, but by then the world was completely different. She found herself sitting on a dock on a tropical island in some distant corner of the world.

As though that were not enough, a few minutes later strange men and women in foreign clothes appeared as if from the sky, all of them armed with spears, bows, swords and - at least one of them - hammers. Fearing for her life, she reached out into the water, twisting the world again and appearing elsewhere.

She's encountered the armed strangers several times since then, each time escaping before they could say a single word or strike her down, or whatever else they might have been after. In the eleven months she's been running, she's learned to control her powers - picking her destinations and even managing to teleport through normal water. When the game begins, she's still running.

Other: How Elisa came to be is a mystery best left unsolved. The mysterious figures chasing her are the Norse Gods, though the exact motivations for chasing her (to protect her, kill her, capture her, or something else) is left to the GM to decide.



Jormungand (pronounced "YOUR-mun-gand;" Old Norse Jormungandr, "Great Beast"), also called the "Midgard Serpent," is a snake or dragon who lives in the ocean that surrounds Midgard, the visible world. So enormous is he that his body forms a circle around the entirety of Midgard. He?s one of the three children of Loki and the giantess Angrbooa, along with Hel and Fenrir.

The god Thor is his particular enemy. Two battles between them are recounted in the Eddas. In one, Thor fishes for Jormungand, and fails to pull him up only when the giant Hymir, terrified that this will bring about Ragnarok, severs the line, sending the snake back down to the depths. When Ragnarok does arrive, however, Thor and the Midgard Serpent are destined to slay each other.

Jormungand likely already featured in the religion of the original Germanic tribes, as evidenced by his existence in the later pre-Christian religions of different branches of the Germanic peoples. For example, continental Germans attributed earthquakes to his movements well into the Middle Ages.

Personality: A man full of temper is held in check my the discipline he achieved through his training. But even so when fighting or seeing something he counts as wrong it is likely to boil to the surface and roll over on the one he is fighting or those doing the wrong, when this happening his face flaming red and a giant smile on his face. Outside of fighting he is more quiet, with a quiet step and soft touch, with binding wounds or just getting some ones attention. Fiercely loyal to family and close friends it is hard for anyone to get close enough to learn much about his past, the most he willingly sharing is he is a demigod and is very good with weapons.

This starts within seconds of grasping or having it touch him and full understanding of the use and anything else at the end of the 3 minutes. This knowledge fades at the same rate it is absorbed. His own personal weapons and armor are easier to understand over the years of training he has been using them. (one sword, one gun.)

Minor Attributes:
*Luck of the Irish; for someone who?s parent isn?t the god of luck his luck is unusually high. Well aimed bullets miss or hit superficial spots, dice roll well for him, and in cards he has a better than even chance of winning.
*Blind Fight; after the years of training he has been forced to undertake under extreme circumstances he can sense killing intent and the presence of anyone coming within striking distance, even in complete darkness or without being seen.
*Jujutsu; a comprehensive training in jujutsu so if he ever looses his weapon and has no other to replace it he can at least defend himself and more than likely disarm the other one, taking theirs and then using his own great skills.

History:
born into a family where might is the only thing taken into consideration the fact he was the son of a war god made him something great. As soon as he could run he was pushed into training. Without ever holding a weapon more than the knife needed for eating he spent every day from his 4th birthday to his 12th in rigorous physical training.

By the time he was 12 he could run for hours without getting overly tired and can out wrestle any of the other boys in the family or in the village, several of them twice as big as he was. The first day he held a practice sword he was beaten and left exhausted in the field after only an hour, the new ways of working his muscles and beating he had gotten making it hard for him to move, it taking almost that amount of time again before he could stumble his way back home and fall into bed. The next day another round with it, but this time actual teaching with how to hold and swing it. Slowly starting at first he was soon making thousands of swings a day with the sword and soon his already great physical condition turning into the peak of human development. Taking but a year to learn how to train his body fully and starting the training for the sword and shield, getting better and better at them as he challenged higher and higher ranking people in his family until only his grandfather could still beat him more often than not.
When he was 14 his training was expanded to include firearms, everything from revolvers to full auto machine guns. Again taking several months to learn enough he started the family fighting art of sword+gun fighting. This training much harder he gained many scars and deep hard welts and bruises, his sparring partners using rubber bullets and going for the "kill" every time.

The night of his 16th birthday his father came to him in his dreams and told him everything about him, his demi god status which had been kept from him by his family, as well as the true dangers out in the world. Warning him that now that his true powers has been awakened the monsters that had ignored him were going to start coming for him, as soon as this warning was conveyed a crashing in the house woke him. Running out with his sword he froze up as he saw a mountain ogre crushing his cousins skull and backhanding his uncle through a wall. After running out of his room and the ogre seeing him it charged, punching him which sent him back into his room and through the closed window in the other wall. Rolling on the ground and close to shock from the glass sticking out of him on top of the monster level hit he had just took his training had him rolling and back to him feet before the ogre had even thundered through the wall after him. Standing there holding his sword ready he could hear the rest of his family shooting and yelling out as they attacked, the smaller guns doing little and even the large ones not doing as much damage as they were hoping. This new enemy making his shake slightly in fear he attacked as he was trained, his motion cleaner and with more power behind it than he had ever been able to summon up before. His attack sliding through the hand of the ogre as he sidestepped and ran back to the house, the bellowing from the ogre making the rest of the glass in the house shatter. Grabbing its stump and running away Cearul stumbles into the house and saw the bodies of those who had died fighting it. That night was filled with tears and yelling as he found out more of his origin. Soon knowing as much as any human would know about his situation he looked at his sword and could see the ways to use it, so many more than he had ever imagined before.

It took a week for everyone who was still alive to be mostly healed, as soon as his grandfather and uncles were better he challenged them all to a spar, taking 1 on 3 he had the winning hand till he stumbles on some wood and was beaten by the rest in that instant of weakness. His power of Arms Master having awakened when his father had visited, soon learning this covered everything he could hold that was a weapon, and stretching to armor also. Even with this new power he still had excruciating training every day, increasing more and more as time went on so his muscles remembered the moves needed and his eyes and instincts were as good as they could be. Going from normal training to blindfolded training and eventually moving to sight and sound sensory deprivation training to get his instincts to rise to their highest point. At this point when he had completed this training he was 19, over the last 3 years monsters attacking him and his family around him several times. Each time he took a more aggressive role in defeating them and finally at the end hunting down and killing the mountain ogre that had attacked on his 16t birthday.

Making a decision to leave when he was 19, so to keep his family safe now that he could defend himself he got his final sword and gun before leaving, the guitar case also so he could move around without making an uproar. Spending more than a year walking and investigating Ireland he went to America and traveled up and down it, seeing the world and keeping his skills fresh with the monsters that found him.

Parent God: Yabash Han,the god of defeat, son of Erlik of Mongolian origin.

Appearance: Pretty enough, pale olive skin, short, but wildly-colored hair(multiple shades of blue throughout) and very obviously Asian, Mongolian to be specific, standing only at about 5'5", but lithe and not an ounce of body fat seen on her,simply muscle and skinniness, often leading to the mistake that she is an exceptionally feminine boy due to her unusually flat chest. More often than not wears tight clothes, jeans, t-shirt and/or hoodie, or simply sweats. As for shoes, they range from the very versatile combat boots, to the more specialized climbing shoes should she need them. Her hands are almost always wrapped in bandages up to her elbows however. Not from broken bones or skin, but simply to protect her hands and arms.The only weapons she carries on her person are her studded gloves, which she has to routinely swap out due to the leather ripping from the force and frequency with which she uses them, and a small hand-held taser should she need something more.

Personality: Rebellious, and stubborn to a fault, Qara is hot-headed concerning certain issues, while unmistakably cold with others. However, she is undeniably vibrant and full of life, enjoying every moment of it. But she's got her own dark side too,enjoying other's pain immensely, and when she commits to something to win it, it's not enough that she has to win, but the rest must fail completely, through any means she can summon if needed.

Power:
Spirit of Defeat, aka Batu: The line of Erlik has forever had their own personal assistants with them since time immemorial, for Qara, her spirit assistant is Batu. As her father is the god of Defeat, she is given certain abilities due to the fact that the spirit is her symbiote, short of Erlik himself ripping Batu out of her body, they are together forever, whether they like it or not.

The Spirit of Defeat gives her greatly enhanced strength,speed, flexibility, and awareness close to those of the most powerful demi-gods known to mankind. As a result, she is almost unmatched in combat by many god-offspring alive today. Add onto that that Batu himself can extend a part of himself outside of her body(six feet at most, and unseen by those without divine sight) to trip an opponent, grasp for another handhold to continue climbing, or simply to pick up a piece of paper from the road.

Batu, finally, can take complete control of Qara's body from her should she need it, allowing broken arms and legs to move normally without pain, blindness to recede, deafness to return to hearing. However, all the activities she did while under Batu's direction will accumulate, and once she regains control of her body, pain returns immediately, as well as any extra damage done to them from his excursion. However, she must be completely conscious in order to give up control of her body, she cannot be slipping off into unconsciousness. But what he can do while she sleeps, or is not completely there, is to communicate with her, allowing her to rarely, if ever, get caught off her guard, as Batu is a spirit and needs no sleep, he keeps watch over her, as they are a part of each other and an extension of themselves.

Batu himself is a sarcastic, if sometimes morose, comedian of sorts. As it turns out, he himself is a victim of her grandfather's pride. He refused to give sacrifices to the god in his youth many centuries ago and was snatched from reuniting with the entirety of his family by Erlik after he was stricken with something that caused his insides to rot while he was still alive. Enslaved for countless centuries, he rose through the slave ranks somehow and was given the great "honor" of becoming a spirit assistant.

Minor Attributes:

Adept Martial Artist - While in no way a master or even truly an expert, Qara is well-versed in a variety of them, having taken lessons and competed in tournaments since she could walk, leading to her extreme flexibility and strength, constantly looking for new things to add to her repertoire. Unfortunately, she has never really broken through her mental barrier when it comes to using weapons in her style.

Soul Snatch: As a direct descendent of a god of death and disease Qara is bestowed with the ability to pull the souls of the recently dead from their bodies before they travel to their individual destinations, able to keep them with her so long as she holds them, and temporarily enslave them to do her bidding, causing them to answer questions she wants, or do whatever she wants so long as she holds onto them and an hour has not elapsed.

Mongol Blood: A people famous(or infamous) for their savagery and lethality do not completely pass into the darkness no matter what happens and how much time passes, Qara is simply much closer to the source, and as such, can become a true monster in combat, never giving up, never leaving an enemy with a broken jaw when a snapped neck ends their threat more permanently, and ensuring should a message be able to be sent, that one is all that needs to be received. As a result, she is vicious and the fact that she is who she is makes those that begin to understand this fear her all the more.

History: Qara's mother never exactly explained how she met her father, only that learning that she was with child caused her to flee their Mongolian home to Korea, and growing up was beset by a voice in her head, an invisible friend that assisted her, and berated her when she did wrong. Starting as a child gymnast as a school activity, she branched out to the Korean martial arts, which are among the most versatile in the world, incorporating various styles and stances, and is constantly evolving. It was not until a competition in her late teens that she actually found out about Yabash Han, her father, and his father, Erlik. Having begun it, Batu suddenly warned her to avoid a hit, and she did. Turning on her heel, she saw her mother sitting with a strange old man, obviously heatedly discussing something, before it quite suddenly escalated into the man hitting her, launching her across the room. Qara rushed to her mother's side and lost the man in the crowd that formed around the two, before she was rushed to the hospital. The woman slipped into a coma for the next day and a half, eventually awaking and informing Qara of her father's...family troubles and competitions. Nothing particularly world changing beyond the fact that her grandfather wasn't too happy she wasn't being raised exclusively by her nameless aunts to become another generation of the Black Sisters, though unfortunately for him, he was unable to force her to return with him due to the fact that she was of both divine and overworld heritage, and therefore protected by Ulgan.

Unfortunately for her mother, she was not so protected from his spirit assistants, and became deathly ill weeks after being released from the hospital, and there was no explanation as to how she contracted a rare condition not seen outside of a handful of places in the world, none of which were particularly close to the Far East. They struggled with it for a handful of years before she eventually succumbed to it. She left to travel the world the next day. A burning desire to find a way to kill a god has driven her ever since, keeping her moving from place to place, fighting in underground clubs to improve her own abilities, browsing the occult bookshops of the world, meeting the occasional god-child, learning at least the basics of countless languages of the world, and discovering exactly what is required to enact her fury on Erlik. The fact that Dionysus was loose on the world and enacting some plan, as well as a group attempting to stop him interested her, as how many ways were there to stop a god? And if she found out the way in which to kill a god of another pantheon, perhaps she could work on that to find a way to kill her grandfather Erlik.
