Let's say there's a war going on in present day, to spice it up you've been given a choice to add weapons/vehicles/technologies from Sci-Fi. Simply, what would you add?

I'd pick Starship Troopers from the book for mobility/agility/speed, tactical superiority and strength, plus the Baneblade from Warhammer 40,000. How many cannons did it have again? 50?
EDIT:Ah yes 11.

P.S. I have to thank Lord Kloo for the thread idea :D

The fully upgraded Normandy 2 from Mass Effect 2 would be an amazing ship to have on your side during a war. Stealth capabilities, powerful cannons, and EDI would give you a huge advantage in any battle.

The death star. What war?
What planet, for that matter.
Read first post, present day. I know it may be boring but a battalion of Storm Troopers running in a modern battlefield is cool right? Right?

I don't see the problem?
I take the death star to present day, and force the people to stop fighting, or blow up the entire planet. Whatever feels the most fun at the moment.

A General Motors Bolo of the Line.

MK XX Bolo (Tremendous):

"All right, Unit DNE of the line. Why did you do it? This is your Commander, Unit DNE. Report! Why did you do it? Now, you knew your position was hopeless, didn`t you? That you`d be destroyed if you held your ground, to say nothing of advancing. Surely you were able to compute that. You were lucky to have the chance to prove yourself."
For a minute I thought old Denny was too far gone to answer. There was just a kind of groan come out of the amplifier. Then it firmed up. General Bates had his cupped behind his ear, but Denny spoke right up.
"Yes, sir."
"You knew what was at stake here. It was the ultimate test of your ability to perform correctly under stress, of your suitability as a weapon of war. You knew that. You knew that General Margrave and old Priss Grace and the press boys all had their eyes on every move you made. So instead of using common sense, you waded into that inferno in defiance of all logic-and destroyed yourself. Right?"
"That is correct, sir."
"Then why? In the name of sanity, tell me WHY! Why, instead of backing out and saving yourself, did you charge? .....Wait a minute, Unit DNE. It just dawned on me. I`ve been underestimating you. You KNEW didn`t you? Your knowledge of human psychology told you they`d break and run, didn`t it?"
"No, sir. On the contrary, I was quite certain that they were as aware as I that they held every advantage."
"Then that leaves me back where I started. Why? What made you risk everything on a hopeless attack? Why did you do it?"
"For the honor of the regiment."

Year 2796, Deng Conflict. Field Test.

Hmm maybe a slightly "hippie" answer but what about the "Point of View Gun" From hitch hikers guide to the galaxy for a peaceful resolution.

or if you want to remain warlike maybe there's a way we could get Unicron to fight for us?

As awesome as it would be, I don't think the Death Star would be very practical in a present day war. After all, you can't exactly blow up this planet as it's the only one we've got.
When you have a galaxy spanning Empire, sure blow up a planet or two; but when you only have one planet, blowing up planets doesn't seem like a particularly good idea.

OT: USS Prometheus from Star Trek: Voyager. Multi-Vector attack mode *****!

The Evstafi Battleship from Infinite Space. It's 3 kilometers of plasma based death. This is a universe where ships can go up to 200x light speed.

All you have to do is tune down the main cannon. 'tis all. Well, I'd hope you'd be able to do it. I want to see some PED Suits in action, dammit!

I didn't say you couldn't, I just said it would be a very very very bad idea.
