By the sound of it, and trust me I've seen this before, they were working on a scene that obviously is rather complicated or kept having to be done over and over. Now, if I know anything about filming stuff, when a scene is going on the lighting guys; hell no one; should be moving around the set while the camera is rolling.
I feel bad for the poor lighting guy, cause you could almost tell he was rather ignorant of what he was doing. Feel even worse for him that he picked "one of those days" for Bale to do it.
Rightfully it should have been the director to take care of it not Bale, but like he said "Do I walk around and tear down your lights during scenes?" Dude obviously did something he wasn't supposed to do.
