Clearly, Bale is insane.

Woooo! Bale FTW!

Seriously though, does it matter all that much? Everyone flips out from time to time, it's just that personally I prefer to do it to people higher up the ladder than myself, as opposed to lower than me. (The slightly stupider way of doing it)

OMG someone got annoyed and someone else. Breaking news it isn't and without context it is impossible to say if he was in the wrong or not.
Maybe it isn't breaking news but it's fucking funny ;)

Wow...

But it sounds like he walked though the scene twice. It maybe it was a long day. I don't know, we all flip sometimes. Still...That was hilarious.

Yeah, that is most definitely over-the-top, especially the "Do you want me to trash your fu**ing lights!?" part.

Hah, that wasn't too bad was it? Seems like Batman had kept his cool for some time.

We need to remember that Bale takes the biz VERY VERY seriously. This is the man who lost unhealthy amounts of weight for The Machinist, chubbed to play Patrick Bateman, and bulked up for Batman enough to do a large number of stunts. That's not to mention the fact that he actually spends time on accents. He seems like the kind of person who's at least marginally high strung MOST of the time.

Got to love the accent of an Angry Welshman.

Listen to the clip properly, the guy walked through a shot, then he did it again (which is when the clip starts). Bale is notorious for taking his work seriously and he expects the same from everyone else.

The other guy is also answering back, you can't really hear him but he is doing it.

I don't really think much can be safely said here due to the complete lack of context. Was Bale just acting like a dick unneccessarily? Maybe. Was this guy really incompetent? Maybe - I'm almost sure I heard Bale infer this wasn't the first time the guy had done this, and Bale's 'I've never had a DP behave like this' seems to say the guy REALLY sucked at his job. Was it a really long one-take scene? Maybe. Bale does seem to be excessive here, but if this DP had been walking around during filming repeatedly, AND it was a really difficult scene, AND Bale had had a bad day/was going through a bad patch of some sort, I can see it being making sense. He might even have felt bad about it and apologised to the guy later - we don't know that either.

It's not a very professional way to handle yourself in the workplace either. If you did that in any type of office environment you'd be fired.
Exactly. He's probably use to the role of "talent" being waited on and having every whim adorned. The DP may of been a complete idiot, but that's NOT for the actor to .. act upon. It's the directors or producers. Why does he have the right to put in his "two cents". He's not above him in any hierarchical term, he's in production not the cast.

Celebrities aren't allowed to get pissed off? Actors are people too, give him a break.

Anyways, I've had worse hissy-fits than that.
Yes they are, but small things tend to trigger their rage due to their over-pampered arse. if you or I were in that situation we may of been pissed but I don't think I would of flipped at someone whos job is not mine to control. Complain yes, physically threaten and verbally abuse? No.

I wonder how many of you realize how completely pointless this is...all of you attempting to analyze a situation you have no concept of. I'll bet none of you have been on a professional set, you don't understand the mechanics, politics and working structure of a professional set, and can only try to compare an incomplete audio stream to "that one time your boss yelled at you for burning the hamburger at Burger King." Even if I am wrong and you are Martin Scorsese, you certainly can't ascertain exactly what was going on, and you certainly can never know the full context. I am neither defending nor attacking Bale on this one, I just think you guys have better things to be doing than forming half-assed self-righteous opinions about things you don't know about and can never affect.

Sorry, so being an actor gives one human being the right to scream obscenities at another for several minutes?

The story, if anyone is interested, is that the Director of Cinematogrophy screwed up a shot, in Bale's opinion. He then proceeded to scream at Shane Hurlbut (aformentioned director) for several minutes, in front of the whole crew.

But clearly the mechanics, politics and working structure of a 'professional' set allow one person to erupt into violent outbursts at those around him.

I'm not sure what I find more aggravating - that people think he did this because he's an actor, or that he should be allowed to do so because of his occupation.

Edit; You also seem to have assumed that most of the people who have posted so far work at fast food restaurants. I have no idea why.

That's the most awesome thing I have heard. Maybe he was justified in lossing it. What happened?
It sounds like a light technician walked on set during a shot. I dunno though. It seems like he gets payed plenty to do a do-over without complaints.
Yeah, you can hear him say something along the lines of, "Do you want me to break YOUR LIGHTS", or something crazy like that.

My guess is that he wasn't exactly having a good day. That sounds like a "straw that broke the camels back" sort of instance, it wasn't specifically the lighting technician, it was everything and the technician just walked into his line of fire.

It's rediculous, but we all flip out occasionally.
I know, I'm not making fun of him for doing that, I just find it funny that he dropped like 100 F-bombs in three minutes. That's probably a new world record or something.

When I heard this I couldn't believe it even if someone did walk over to check the lights it doesn't excuse his behaviour.

Maybe someone should tell him he isn't actually Batman and to srsly grow up.

I find it sad that since he played Batman people think highly of him, and he goes and does this. I believe this news broke today and my little cousins idolize him because they think he's Batman, you know, so it's going to distort their image of him.
