okay, the guy didn't walk into the scene, CB was having a scene with co actor bryce, and the light guy walk in the background behind bryce, therefore in CB line of view, THIS is what CB thought distracting, you can hear him ask the director to tell him something but the director didn't see it, because he didn't walk into the line of sight relative to the camera, CB thought the scene ruined because he got distracted by the movement behind bryce.

Also I believe CB overreacted completely, I mean the guy threatens to beat him up, just because he even tries to EXPLAIN his reason for walking in the background of CB line of sight. Also this is clearly not normal behavior, I mean you can feel that everyone is just in shock at his reaction, and trying to make him chill out, Bale is a good actor, no doubt about it, but he's got anger issues.

I am going to quote the reality of the situation as posted by the link I saw above at Aint It Cool News.

The DP on TERMINATOR SALVATION, Shane Hurlbut, is a apparently a light tweaker. He's a fairly young DP and likes to fiddle with his lights on set during action, which is a big "NO NO" on most productions unless worked out in advance with performers. But apparently Shane was a pretty unrepentant light tweaker.

The scene in question, was a very emotional and tough scene between Christian Bale and Bryce Howard. A scene that required soul bearing and a deep level of immersive concentration. The sort of scene where everyone on set knows not to get in anyone's eye lines, and definitely not to move lights around while FILMING. You lock that shit down before the scene starts.

Bale had indeed warned the DP on multiple occasions about messing with lights while the cameras were rolling, and Bale was in the midst of a painful scene with Bryce, what was described to me as being the emotional center of the film and his character for the film.

Now, the reason I know all of this is because the person that was there, felt that it should be made perfectly clear that Christian Bale was the utmost gentleman and cool guy on set. And the DP really was doing something that professional DPs with experience just don't do. Not during a performance.

You don't need me to give you a link, it's all over the internet, I just felt that you should know what really went down - and that this particular outburst did indeed modify the DP's behavior - and for future DPs. Fuck with the lights before and after your actors are acting. Not during.
Anger issues? Well, if getting fucked with while on the job is not a reason to get real pissed then I don't know what else is. That light guy is most likely fired and his professional life as a light guy is now ruined. As it should be. Because is is obviously a fucking MORON.

Sheesh, what an amateur DP (director of photography). What kind of moron walks around when you have a multi-million actor doing an intense scene?

Christian Bale is like 5?8? and while he was ripped in Batman Begins could not hurt an average size person. Couple that with the fact that he will soon be the world?s best know action star that has to look up to see the woman who is interviewing him on the red carpet? yeah, the guy is gonna be pissed.

Well you know some actors have over 14 hour days so maybe he was just tired. Too many f bombs though.
The number of f bombs are increadible, but yeah, this may be justified cause of their hours.

That and this isnt even close to the worst "flip out" i've seen, just look at Michael Richard, now that's offensive and thats a true flip-out, that destroyed his entire carreer and reputation, Christian Bale doesnt really have as big of a reputation to live up to, that and this is something one forgets over and afternoon without any probs.

Oh, that's nothing. My dad was working special effects for a independent horror film when the director flipped out and started waving a live shotgun around while screaming nonsensical things at the top of his lungs.

Even funnier is that my dad was the only one to not take cover, and instead stood while while the shotgun passed inches away from his face. He was perfectly calm the entire time.

I wonder how many of you realize how completely pointless this is...all of you attempting to analyze a situation you have no concept of. I'll bet none of you have been on a professional set, you don't understand the mechanics, politics and working structure of a professional set, and can only try to compare an incomplete audio stream to "that one time your boss yelled at you for burning the hamburger at Burger King." Even if I am wrong and you are Martin Scorsese, you certainly can't ascertain exactly what was going on, and you certainly can never know the full context. I am neither defending nor attacking Bale on this one, I just think you guys have better things to be doing than forming half-assed self-righteous opinions about things you don't know about and can never affect.
Pretty much right^

It turns out that, like MatParker wrote, the scene was really emotional and some unprofessional jerk ruined a perfect shot, which required a lot of talent and skill to work. I think many of you said worse stuff for things that were really less important.

Also, anyone tampering with the lights when a film is being shot should deserve to be fired and kicked in the ass with a heavy boot.

is it really too much to expect a little professionalism? especially when you consider just how long Bale has been in the business and what he has done in the name of it. You only have to see The Machinist to know what I'm talking bout
Well, actors are people too. And if you want to screw around with lights and ruin the movie, you deserve to be cussed at.
that was meant to be in his defence

I'm not sure if you guys heard about this but this is pretty crazy. This is audio of Christian Bale flipping out on some guy on the set of T4.
STRONG LANGUAGE-CAUTION

i don't think it's that bad. Thinking of the stress of his long hours and this was around the time he was accused of (or did?) beat up his Mum and Sister.
Sometimes, I lose it and get shouty ranty, not beat up my Mum lose it but I can relate. Especially, if this guy kept on walking behind his acting counterpart - Bryce Dallas Howard. Why do it? It's just irritating.

Guarantee people will be looking out for this scene in the movie.

Do you have any idea about real life fighting and combat? While I have no idea of how trained in martial arts Bale is, a person's size has jack squat to do with kicking ass. During the many years of the early UFC(the REAL UFC that is) I saw many a crazy brawl where the small guy whipped all over the large guy. One fight comes to mind where some tiny ass guy knocked some huge Samoan out cold on his back. Size means little. Strength, heart and will mean a lot.

I wouldn't be too bothered about his reaction if he wasn't for the whole drama with his mother and sister.

Makes you wonder if the guy has some issues.

No context is needed you don't talk to another human being that way. I've had people throw feces at me and I didn't flip shit like that. I'm not saying you can't get mad, or that movies are easy but how come he couldn't've just said "Hey stop the scene, man what're you doing?"
In what situation did you have people throw feces at you?
i work at a large jail

Slow down there Axia... thank you for the history lesson. Bale isn't a lil ***** but he is a lil guy. The closest thing he has seen to a fight in his last 20 years of acting is Dark Knight combat coreography. I am just saying his greatest accomplishemnt on the screen has been losing 30 lbs for the Machinist and yelling at his mom and sister last year at a Dark Knight launch party. He is a lil guy with a big mouth and an average person would laugh in his face. I bet you though Van Damme was tough too. I am just kidding you but really. I know enough about submission fighting and core strength not to pick fights with midgets.
