I have yet to see any of these movies. I too used to newer films, so I find these gems slow paced.
How do you know they're slow paced if you've never seen them?
I did not make myself clear. While I haven't watched these in particular, I've watched Psycho and Casablanca. I got through them, but was underwhelmed.

I think for me it's the simplicity and focus on characters and suspense that i love about older movies (Hitchcock being the best example) but i can see how the pacing can put people off a lot.

As long as it keeps people talking about Citizen Kane and Vertigo I'm happy. Both are amazing pieces of storytelling and should be remembered. Far too many people have neglected older films.

I told you guys that Citizen Kane wasn't the best movie ever!

I also said, however, that Scorpion King 3 is. And I'll stick by that -- it is fact, after all.

Well the best movie I ever experienced was when I went to see X-Men Origins Wolverine, Y'know, because people's opinions are objective and no matter how big the sample size you can never announce one movie objectively the "best" out of every other.

Personally I've never seen either Citizen Kane or Vertigo (Was vertigo the one with Sylvester Stallone climbing a mountain? I don't even know.)

Double post, but the answer is no. The one you are thinking of is "Cliffhanger". "Vertigo" is an Alfred Hitchcock movie starring Jimmy Stewart as private investigator.

I would have to say Fight Club, even though you can't really watch it twice

While I haven't seen either movie, I'm a bit relieved that this isn't a Dark Knight Returns fan thread since I could almost smell Bat-Love from this one. I was going to post about people finally watching the original 12 Angry Men to be honest but that one of my favorite movies so best not to joke. I'll have to check those movies out, anyway.

Citizen Kane used to be the greatest film of all time? Must've missed the memo.

I thought Inception was better.

Inception was the biggest missed chance in the last years.

An hour in I was holding my breath for this becoming my #1, what with me expecting to see how they would keep that guy in those inception layers and how the girl would be constantly changing realities to keep him from figuring it out.

Instead, the movie wastes an eternity in that last layer being a James-Bond-like shoot-out in the snow.

Haven't been that disappointed in a long time.

Good to note. Unfortunately, I stopped caring when I realized how pointless arbitrary 'good' and 'bad' are with regards to art. I personally pay more attention to what I liek and don't like then whether or not a movie is 'good' or 'bad'.

This. Forever this.

IMHO the "Best Movie" ever goes to A Clockwork Orange.
Nothing can beat the glory of that movie.

.
Liam Neeson is, for me, the new Chuck Norris.
Why? Because he fights the Nazis.... and Wild Wolves in Alaska.

Wat?

I didn't even like it very much!

Seriously, I'd watch ANY OTHER Hitchcock movie before I watched Vertigo again. It was so OK it hurt.
