He rapped on the table with his fingers, growing slowly impatient. Wondering whether staring was managing to slow down the process somehow, he turned back to the table to see Nazarius.

Hammond searched back to understand how long Naz had been sitting there before finally giving up on the endless questions to himself. Surely he could just let this go and wait until the food came to him...

Luckily he didn't have to wait long. The ginger haired waitress returned with a plate of food[footnote]Of the ambiguous variety[/footnote] and, upon placing it in front of Hammond, gave a small curtsy. "Will that be all, sir?"

He looked to Naz, who looked like he could probably use something to eat, and then back to the waitress, "Fetch something for my friend here."

"Of course." She curtsied again and then wandered back toward the kitchen.

"Enjoying your weapon there?" Naz says as he feasts on the delectable food in front of him. "Quite the scythe, You know in my village it is said that if killed by a scythe your soul never leaves this place but becomes part of it. Superstition of coure"

Naz wipes his face with the napkin and continues to barbarically cut his steak with a throwing knife. "They are multi tools" He adds through a mouthful.

Savannah woke. For a moment he kept his eyes closed as he tried to recall what had happened the day beforehand. Something made him want to examine his chest. He opened his eyes and undid the nightshirt (which, to his irritation, was not dark green) someone had put him in. He saw a fairly long stitch lying diagonally across his chest. He nodded in recognition, then looked around the room. It was an ordinary inn room, but not the one he remembered hiring.

I need to shave.

Doing up the nightshirt again, he went and did just that. He decided to go and get dressed properly. He looked in his wardrobe to find his shirt torn and part of his tie lying on top of it.

Of course. This will not do.

Em stared up at the cieling, thinking about what happened. She hadn't yet asked the others why they were at a shady inn last night, nor who the new person was. Another thing had been playing on her mind..
Where the hell is Kronos?. She had been repeating it in her mind over and over, hoping some strange voice would give her an answer. It was a crazy thought, since they hadn't seen him for a while now. She knew he was on the run, but surely he'd need some help somewhere down the line?
If we still work for him that is... I haven't been paid in ages. Maybe I should start stealing again if business doesn't pick up. She thought, glancing around the room for stealable objects. Sighing, Em rolled onto her side and closed her eyes.

....

After what seemed like a few minutes, there was a knock at the door. Em bolted upright, then yawned.
Whoops.. I must've fallen back asleep. She thought, noticing the sun was shining through the window now.
"
Code:
Em? Are you awake yet?
" She heard Ari say, as the door creaked open.

"Hey Ari! Good morning." Em said cheerfully, combing her hair with her fingers until it looked normal again.

Sorry that took so long Kildorn. Dx

Also, oh noes! Fork has no shirt! What will happen next? *dun dun dunnn* =P

Savannah's head snapped to the door. He double-checked that he was decent.

"Wait a moment," he called, taking up a comb and running it quickly but thoroughly through his hair.

"You may."

"Okay! See you down there." Em said, as Ari shut the door again. She listened as her footsteps got further away.

Breakfast sounds like a good idea. Then after that I need to make a plan of some sort... Em thought to herself, grabbing all her stuff and securing it in her cloak before making the bed.

With a slight bounce in her steps, Em quickly left her room and ran down the stairs. She entered the main part of the inn again, and scanned the tables for any familiar faces. After a few seconds she spotted Hammond and the new guy with a large table to themselves.

Em skipped over to them, and sat down next to Hammond.
"Good morning!" She said cheerfully, stealing a slice of toast from Hammond's plate.

Because toast is ambiguous, you can't deny that. =P

"Hey, I was going to ea-" He stopped speaking as his eyes fell onto Em, "Oh, Em. You're awake..." He said it as if he didn't quite believe it.

He turned back to his breakfast, having now decided that the food was not going to be poisoned, and took the remaining slice before Em stole it, "It's just Savannah and Ari we have to wait for now. Until then you can try find the waitress... I'm sure she'll gladly bring you your own food."

The Jiryu jumped upon the table, dragging its tail through Hammond's food and then scampering off to read the menu. Looking down at his ruined breakfast, Hammond swore. [small]"Fucking lizard."[/small] He took a bite from the toast he had managed to rescue from the beast's landing before turning to Ari.

"Where's the green one?"

"Are you referring to me, Hammond?" Savannah said as he came into view at the bottom of the stairs, clad in his nightshirt and smart green trousers, which had had the worst of the blood washed from them.

With that, he sat at the table - wincing somewhat - and asked what was for breakfast.

"Well I'm not referring to the giant cat, am I?" Now that Savannah was here, plus the annoyance of his recently destroyed breakfast, Hammond's usual irritability had returned. He pushed his plate away and then silently refused to answer Savannah's next question.

Savannah eyed the menu up and down and selected a simple vegetable soup. He called a waitress over and placed the order.

"So," he began dryly, "what peril are you planning to get into today?"

His speech was a little thin due to the wound.

Em rested her head in her hand, slouching over the table as the others talked.
So many strange questions. I wonder where I should start looking first? I guess Kronos' ex-hideout would be a good starting point... Hmm.. I wonder if the others would come with me? She thought, drifting off into her mind.

Code:
What if they have other plans? Like finishing whatever they were doing last night?
A nagging little voice interrupted her train of thoughts.
Should I ask what they were doing?
Code:
Is it any of your business? They obviously don't need you around as much.
Well hey, that's not fair. I was unconscious when they left. It's not like they could've asked me to go with them.
Code:
Maybe they left you on purpose?
Em frowned to herself, shrugging off the nagging voice as paranoia. She slowly tuned back into the conversation as Savannah finished his sentence.

"You don't plan peril. It just happens." Em said mischievously, swtiching back to her carefree self. Her smile faltered a little as she saw him wince in pain again.
"Maybe we should take a rest day anyways. You look pretty beat up." She said, leaning back onto her arm.

well everyone else gets a voice to talk to, I felt left out >_>

"Quite. I have been in a scrape or two before, but this one stands out. This stitch is a fine job though," he said, indicating his chest, "and the bed was comfortable. Although I would have given my hat for any bed last night; if I still had it, that is."

His soup arrived and he thanked the waitress, but left it untouched as he continued,

"Before we do anything else, I would like to know more about this Kronos character. Unless I am very much mistaken, he was with you two inns back, with that disturbing nude gentleman. Is he an employer of some kind?"

Em thought about it for a few seconds, trying to choose her words.
"You could say that. He asks us to do stuff and we get paid for it, but he never tells us why we're doing stuff." She said.
"Why, are you planning to stick around?" Em asked, smiling happily.

"I am, but understand it is only until we meet this Kronos again and he gives me compensation for all this inconvenience - to put it mildly - he is at least partly responsible for putting me through."

Hammond grinned and chuckled, drawing the gaze of his green suited companion. "He's probably worm food by now. I doubt you're getting compensation for anything any time soon."
