I just thought of one! It's in the Wizard of Oz. Dorothy lives in Kansas. I'm assuming that she's been in at least one forest in her life. And yet, when she gets to the one in Oz, her first thought is "there's probably lions, tigers, and bears in here!" That's an odd conclusion to arrive at.

To be fair she does encounter a Lion later on, so it's not like the fear wasn't justified...

I guess that's true, but I'm going to chalk that up to pure luck. I think it was one of those "I totally meant to do that" moments, like when I play pool and make a crazy-awesome shot despite the fact that I'm terrible at pool.

lol I do that often too. I can't recall a specific moment right now but I do remember another thing I do during movies is notice furniture and such and tell myself "Oh, that's a nice table, bookshelf, bed, sofa, etc..." lol I remember during Twilight, I saw some bookshelves from DWR (Design Within Reach) and also the bed type thing from the same place in the guy's bedroom, made me laugh cuz we had gone to DWR that same week to get those Bookshelves for a friend. lol

Here it is. It's a Barcelona Couch :

I can't think of anything too exciting, but I remember watching Titanic when I was younger, and the part right after Jack "saves" Rose from suicide and is invited to dinner, he meets her at the stairs and kisses her hand, proclaiming "I saw that on a nickelodeon once and I always wanted to do it".

It's 1912. There's no Nickelodeon. There's not even TV. Not to mention, Jack was supposedly "living under a bridge" a week before he won his ticket for this trip in a poker match.

And I still want to know how after spending 84 years underwater, you can just rinse a sketchbook off and see the drawings the artist made in it.
Um, clearly Jack's not referring to the TV channel, but to the early movie theaters for which it was named. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nickelodeon_(movie_theater) It cost a nickel to get in, and provided that Jack's memory lasts longer than a week, he could have gone to one when he had slightly more money, possibly even years before.

Too right about the soggy sketchpad though.
Hm, clearly I had never heard of these things before. History is not a strong subject of mine, I'll admit.

Any superhero movie where the hero is not impervious and they don't just shoot them in the fucking head. That would put a damper on Batman's adventures wouldn't it? Scarecrow just pops him in the first encounter and Alfred is left holding the bag.

Any X-Men scene/series where Jean Grey picks Cyclops over Wolverine. What are thinking!? Even when he's not played by Jackman, Wolverine is superior. I know he'd take a shower if you asked him to.

there's a scene in jacki chan's first strike, where he's fighting under water and someone steals his goggles. he then punches the person, retrieves the goggles and puts them back on. COMPLETELY IGNORING THE FACT THAT THEY ARE FULL OF WATER AND MAKE NO DIFFERENCE WHATSOEVER. seriously, this happens like four more times. the entire gimmick of the fight is him frantically trying to get his goggles back because apparently they create a magic, waterproof forcefield.

Also, ever since I watched firefly, I cant see a movie with an explosion in space without that little voice in the back of my head chiming in about the lack of oxygen.

wow. I never realized how hilarious that line is if you didnt get the historical reference. I now have this awesome mental picture of jack and rose watching spongebob, which is even funnier because Jack dies in the ocean! Brilliant!!!

Why on earth would you join the Navy if you can't swim, you ninny?

I don't get it, though. My father was in the Navy, and they trained him to swim. How does one join that part of the military without swimming?
The Navy makes you complete a "swimming" section before you can pass boot camp - but the very basic thing you have to do is tread water for about a minute by whatever means possible. Those people that pass that "can't swim" aren't exactly comfortable with it, and they're just sort of "passed" anyway. I know several people on my ship that say they can't swim.

The entire Wanted movie
This.

I was watching it at the weekend, I actually clipped the final headshot and watched it in reverse (The shot in the movie sees morgan freeman getting shot, the bullet slows down and time slowly moves backwards, meaning I was watching how the shot would have been in real life).

All I could think was "WALLHACKS!!!!". Seriously, about a mile away, through a cityscape, through a can being held by his best mate, through a doughnut being eaten by his boss, through 3 cars next to her, through an office window and *finally* it hits him perfectly betweem the eyes.

one of the last bits in the new die hard movie

where bruce willis gets on the plane *shakes head*
Hmm Normally I'm complaining about sound in space, shitty plots and all sorts, but of the whole movie this is the bit that you do a double take on?

It even seems mildly plausable to me - more likely to happen than, say, a car taking out a helicopter.

OK I got one.
In Die Hard where John first gets into the air vents and he uses the light from his lighter to see whats going on.

THERES NO WAY A TINY FLAME COULD CREATE SO MUCH LIGHT!
You didn't even notice that he has on a white shirt when climbs in the vent and a brown one when he gets out?

...Yup me too. The ridiculousness of that movie took so much away from the experience for me, just because they explained their completely supernatural and physics bending powers in such a shitty way. I wouldn't have minded the cool looking stunts if it was due to them being like psychic or aliens or something, but just "I has some extra adrenalines lol" does not let you bend bullets.

Also the end of LOTR, WHY DIDN'T THEY JUST FLY THERE ON THE SHIT TONNE OF EAGLES IN THE FIRST PLACE! In the straight fight between the two, the eagles destroyed the only real opposition to this plan in the Fellbeast, at the end anyway so they might as well have commenced an aerial assault earlier. They could have saved countless lives if they just flew over Mt. Doom and dropped the ring in instead of fannying about through Rohan and Mordor.
Because it's not how Tolkien wrote the book. In the books he mentions there aren't many intelligent eagles left in Middle Earth and they rarely involve themselves in the affairs of flightless people.

Lightsabers...

Dammit, why do those beams of light not just pass THROUGH each other?
Sorry I can't resist. Nerd-mode activated:

Lightsabre beams are of essentially the same composition as blasterbolt. That is, plasma. The difference is how the sabre beam is actually tied to a power source continually, and as such will immedialy die when the power is cut.

[Disengaging Nerd-mode]
Geek-mode Activated:
Plasma Operates in wierd forms, The Plasma would just simple bend as they hit not create a large spark and Plasma is very hard to control, Even if you had a generator small enough and powerfull enought to create plasma in that little container, You'd have to put a nother end so the plasma would maintain its shape. Dude, have you ever been to Kansas? The entire state is huge damn field. Sometimes there's a small town, but no. It is not unreasonable to assume that Dorothy has no familiarity with a forest.

Serenity had space battle sounds on the approach to the planet near the end. Joss actually says in the commentary that he wanted it to be silent the movie execs told him no way.

This isn't really Logic defying but in "The Spirit" a movie that is told in some kind of mid 50's detective style. There is a scene when the doctor and her dad the police chief are talking in and the of course the movie is black and white like Sin City but right in the middle of the damn screen BAM! bright blue bottle of Aquafina on the table! Ruined it...
Wait... hold on... let me wrap my head around this. You saw The Spirit. And what didn't make sense to you... was an artistic/product placement choice... okay... let me just start by... I don't even know where to begin... I mean...really?
