Ladies and gentlemen, I present to you Rainbow. A rock band from the 70's that deserves a whole lot more recognition in my opinion. They were at least big in their time, mostly due to being Richie Blackmore's band.

Rock music, you say? Let me introduce you to these fine gentlemen:

Seriously, as far as rock goes, these guys are the greatest thing since sliced bread.
I too like ZZ Top. Eliminator is freakin' amazing. Who can't like classics like Got me Under Pressure?

Also, no Accept yet Escapist? Really? I am disappoint. Let me rectify that situation.

Iron maiden. Hands down. No competition.

Best song on their best album.

I'll see your beardless Mr Beard and raise you a more enthusiastic drummer.

It's like the spirit of Chris Farley settled in a wedding party covers band :)

honestly, there's something about this guy that just makes my day, he just seems to LOVE his job!

My God. It's like that man has no bones in his arms. Unlike the weirdly animated NPCs from Human Revolution, though, this enthusiastic madman puts his flailing appendages to good use. :D

Not a big fan of rock, but I am a passionate fan of metal. In particular, the genres of old school death metal, pagan black metal and epic doom. I also like some others such as National Socialist black metal (the Polish scene especially), heavy/power metal (not so much though), technical death metal as long as it isn't shit like Necrophagist or Viraemia, a few slam death metal bands (though when you've heard one, you've heard most of them) and even a few nu-metal and groove metal bands I listened to when I was younger. I won't make a list of the bands I listen to though, because it'd be about 300 names long.

Now this is my kind of thread! I like almost all the bands that have been posted here, excluding all the death metal and black metal and whatever other similar stuff was posted, but I'll put up some videos by the bands that haven't already got videos here.

Here's one of Pink Floyd's heavier outings, in the spirit of the more hard rock/heavy metal nature of this thread:

Definately not their best album, but easily one of the Irish rocker's best tracks, for me anyway:

I'm seeing a lot of Sabbath in this thread. It pleases me. :) Have some maor:

Insert witty Caruso-ism here:

Can't go wrong with some Motorhead:

And this bird you can not chaaayaaange. Half song, half solo, all awesome:

In the days of my youth, I was told what it means to be a man. Which is a bit wierd, since I'm a girl. *shrugs* Still, great track, brilliant couple of solo's there:

Magnificent instrumental from the Brazilian thrash legends:

Had to be done. Had to be done:

It's Death, what else can you say:

Not sure if this is really old enough to be designated a classic, but it deserves to be one in my book. A simply beautiful song, with one of the most emotive and iconic screams heard in Metal:

Okay, while there are endless other bands I can site, I don't think I should eat up any more of this page than I already have.

I like a lot of classic rock and metal, but my favorite would probably be Iron Maiden.

Scorpions, always a classic

The "classicosity" of Dark Tranquility could be debated, however this is still a complete headbanging tune.

Foreigner

Wumpspcut

Aaaand The Who
Fixed it for you.

As for me, can't go wrong with Motorhead, AC/DC and Iron Maiden.

No one can beat Dio and Zeppelin. I can spend hours listening to the greatest singer of all time. It's too bad that he died so soon.

Greatest song ever - Rainbow's (Dio at vocals) Stargazer. Simply unbeatable.

Hey I love Sabbath, Boston, Kiss, Rainbow, Rush, and Metallica but what about bands like Pink Flyod. Because I love them alot Flyod and Dio who I think is the best singer of all time.
And the Wall blew my mind when I first heard it just like Stargazer.

Pink Floyd, Iron Maiden, Led Zeppelin... Classics, but then there are bands and genres not very well known: Sludge, Doom and Stoner metal in particular.

Electric Wizard (Doom metal)
Weedeater (Sludge metal)
Kyuss (Stoner metal)
I recommend these bands as an introduction inside these genres.

And if you are in to ambient music that is one of a kind, mixing (from Wikipedia) Folk music, Black metal and Doom metal (no shredds or heavy bass drum) that ranges from guitar playing with the sounds of water running to some one of a kind mix of instruments/vocals I recommend Agalloch.

Iron Maiden are my all time favourite band.
Which songs are your favorites? I am partial to The Trooper and Hallowed Be Thy Name, myself.
The Trooper Yes

but my favourite is between: The Alchemist, Dance of Death, Aces High, 2 minutes to midnight.

I could name so many more with Maiden theres such a huge variety.
