Technically speaking, it's not so much of a math question.
Requires some real life application. This one has won me many a pint in my local boozer where I can easily prove it.

IV (take away the I) = V, roman numerals for 5.
That's a great example of looking outside the box

Awesome, that's the "Alternate Ending" that I used when i was first told it.
The actual answer I was given was to take a beer coaster and rip a corner off. 4 corners, minus 1 corner actually leaves you with 5 corners. :D

Good job!

Human ambition... haha
Hee, no.

It is a bit.. Vague. I'm hopping offline for a bit, but I'll check answers when I get back.
This seems like a variation of another riddle I've heard...mostly just have to pay attention to the first two lines, the last ones are there for poetic reasons, it seems.
Tomorrow.

Okay, I've got an easy classic:

What has a foot on each end and one in the middle?
A magical three-footed dog? XD

I've got a pretty good one:
The owner of a winery who has recently died has three sons. He leaves them 21 barrels, 7 of which are full of wine, 7 of which are half full, and 7 of which are empty. In his will, he specifies that each son must recieve the same number of full, hall-full, and empty barrels as each other. There are no measuring devices handy. How are the barrels divided?

Each gets three full, one half full and three empty.

You just pour two half full barrels into two other half full barrels and then you end up with 9 full, 3 half full and 9 empty

Indianna Jones, a woman, a child and a old man have 22 minutes until the volcano erupts and destroys the only bridge out. However it's dark and they need a torch to see where Planks have rotted in the bridge, and only two people can cross at any time. They only have one torch.

Given that it takes indy 3 minutes the woman 4 minutes the child 6 minutes and the old guy 7 minutes to cross the bridge. How do they make their escape?
Edit: Note these are simple pen and paper excircises.
indy and the woman cross 4 minutes
indy goes back 3 minutes
old man and child cross 7 minutes
woman goes back 4 minutes
indy and woman cross 4 minutes
total: 22 minutes

EDIT: I fail at quoting.

If you drive a bus from Toronto to Montreal with 47 passengers, drop off 4 people and pick up 7 more, then keep driving until you hit Quebec City and promptly drop off 2 people and pick up 5 passengers, what is the bus driver's name?

Picked this one up today, extremely witty.
I r the driver, so that would be me!
Winner of both the quarter and the cookie, retards!

Here's some classics...

A detective finds a man hung to death in a locked room bare of furniture. There is water all over the floor. The detective immediately calls it a suicide. Why? edit: just realized this one has already been done, oh well

Two men wearing white shirts and blue pants are found dead in a cabin at the bottom of a cliff. How did they die?

Joe and Bob are found dead, lying in wet carpeting. How did they die?

A man is found lying next to a green crystal, dead. Though nothing ever touched him, how did he die?
