Summarizing the thread so far
Whine whine whine X should have done better, whine whine whine Y should have been crap whine whine whine, why don't people think the way I do whine whine whine.
Here's the crux of the problem: Nearly all of the list is very recent. What happened to the good endings from the OLDER games? Riven, for instance. Or Day of the Tentacle. Or Rayman 2. The list REEKS of recent gamers who shun anything more than five years old.
Yeah, that's why Ocarina of time is right at the top right? Also on an unrelated note, maybe people just like recent stuff more? OH NOEZ! WHY DOESN'T THEY LIKE WHAT I LIKE! THEY MUST BE STUPID!
I said "nearly" Find me one on that list from pre-2004 that isn't Nintendo, I'm not seeing it.
And yes, OH NOEZ. We're forgetting a ton of classics! That IS something to be upset about.
Buddy, maybe nintendo classics are more popular in the modern world than other classics, ever stop to think of that? And maybe people don't share the same opinions as you of classic games being good or not, for example, most people on this website thinks that half life is a timeless classic...I think it's a pile of horse doo doo. Different opinions? WHAT NEW SPORE OF MADNESS IS THIS!?
Oh yeah and then there's the classic people are getting worked up over a list that reflects other peoples opinions that makes me slap my head at the intolerance of this website. Class act.
I, for one, am not getting really worked up. You're getting much more worked up than I am.
Oh, the implications.
And yes, Nintendo classics are very popular classics, but they aren't classic for their stories. They're classic for their gameplay, and often they are better games, but this is about endings, which is a story component.
And yet they tell me that people liked the ending of Super Mario Bros,

...better than the ending of Riven...

...where you save an entire civilization from an insane tyrant, rescue the good guy's wife, and finally find a way back to Earth. Whereas in the "better" ending, according to popular opinion, you find a princess and nothing happens.
I can't imagine why people are getting worked up.
