This is pretty stupid. New Super Mario Bros. Wii is on the list. People were voting for their favourite game, not their favourite ending.

Just look at the top 5, two CODs, Halo and Zelda. The games with some of biggest fanboys.

I am so surprised that any MGS games made the list since it is on a 360 page.

It is such a joke to be honest.

In my very biased opinion MGS3 had the best build up to and actual ending.
Zelda being in the top isn't odd, it got a lot of followers and it did have a nice ending though it was kinda confusing. Not among the best or even close, but it is hyped to be the best game ever made. That games that hardly had an ending such as Super Mario got on the list is far stranger. Pokemon Black and White made the list and that story was cut short with obvious hints that it should have been more so it never even ended properly. Also this isn't a list from a 360 page, but a list from the Gunnies Book of World records reported on a 360 page. They can't change the list just because it contains games that weren't on Xbox.

While I would not say BO had the "best" game ending of all time; it's definitely up there in the top 5. It contained double crossing, smart foreshadowing tied in with a mind-bending story with actual substance that I thought a simple walk-forward and shoot fps couldn't pull off, but it did.

So, I don't see why people are berating it; it was good. The multiplayer was bland and I've hated CoD in general with a continuously searing vehemence. Evident why I did not purchase MW3. MW2 was the worst game I have personally played so far in the 21st century and while I thoroughly enjoyed BO, I will be the first to announce right now that I will not be purchasing Black Ops 2.

But seriously, cut Treyarch's Black Ops some slack. While it follows traditional CoD's mundane shooting, the writing to it was arguably better than CoD4's, the best of them all; and even many other AAA games.

What the **** is wrong with me? why am I complimenting CoD. CoD and I are arch-enemies and I stop at no costs to insult it on a normal day.

Yeah, I said that ... as you can see from the section I bolded and underlined.

I have no other idea what else to say, just that the list is a joke and gamers did not answer this poll ... casual gamers did.

I wouldn't say casual gamers since it's clear that there are a lot of Call of Duty fans among the voters. I think I'd say that they weren't the intellectual crowd among gamers and that they voted for their favourite game rather than their favourite ending. Stupid nevertheless and I can't believe they will actually count this record.

Yeah, COD is very casual game. Everybody plays it, from dad's to mum's, girlfriends and sisters, the littlest kid to oldest of guys.

Very easy to pick up and play etc

They basically asked loads of people who's scope of games is very limited, they have been gaming for 3 years and never done a 12 hour gaming session.

Most of the people on this site have been gaming there entire lives and a wide scope of games, they don't say this game has no flaws, even the biggest fanboys on this site admit flaws in the games they are fanboys of.

This poll shows none of that kind of demographic were asked.

It's surprising how few people get that the ending of Black Ops wasn't meant to be 'Fuck yeah, America'. That scene was over the top for a reason; you're seeing that scene as the reality dawns on you that you were a puppet the entire time, and that you were in fact Kennedy's assassin. The scene is meant to appear almost comical to juxtapose the fact that your character is an anti-American sleeper agent.

The game's story isn't award winning, but I enjoyed it over most other Call of Duty campaigns. Sure it was sometimes hard to keep track of, but at least it required a level of intelligence from the audience.
I also would of thought that the significance wouldn't be lost on people either. Guess I was wrong judging from this thread.

For those who can't remember . . .

Yeah, the ending seemed very cheesy to me. Certainly not the best ending of all time, that's for sure. (I paid no attention to the zombies bit at the end.)

Unrelated note: Did anyone else get a real Bioshock 2 vibe from the flooding underwater base?
I honestly feel stupider for having watched that. It seems completely senseless (that being said I haven't actually played the game). Just...what...?!

The last 3-4 CoD games dont really have endings.. its like watching an episode of DragonBallZ... you think things ended, yet somewhere in the background there is a "Tune in next time, on Activisions fps-a-thon"

MASON! WHAT DO THE NUMBERS MEAN!

Me and a co-worker were screaming that at each other for weeks after we played through black-ops haha. Oh Ed Harris...

Seems sort of obvious to me that even though the poll was SUPPOSED to be "best ending" it really just came down to "most popular."

Even me, when I saw the topic, and began thinking of games with great endings, immediately went to Persona 4 and Final Fantasy VII in my head, and then I realized that those endings aren't actually that good, I just love the games.
