Any Mode for CoD needs practice and time, Ive played for 1 and a half days(total time) and I am only rank 38, I might suck, but giving it a go is the main thing, its a game- enjoy.

i don't like hardcore and i don't think it takes more skill as you die with one bullet to your fucking toe its stupid and you die unrealisticly quick, most people who play hardcore search just know the maps, camping spots and spraying spots but i don't think that makes you good it means you play to much
Dying from one or two bullets is unrealistic, as opposed to soaking up 10 shots, surviving, sucking your thumb for 5 seconds and being OK again?

I love the HC mode but i hate it being called hardcore. Its not hard core. Were the massive waiting before you get to the fighting zone just to have the enemies destroyed by artillery. The real feeling of pain when your are hit and no respawning after you been killed. Guns jamming on you/over heating (when you fire that much in that amount of time something gotta give). Thats HARDCORE. It just a different style of game play just like the really gay old school mode.

I believe Hardcore mode requires you to just be more careful. You can't just run out into the middle of the street, or you will be filled with bullets faster than Malcolm X.

(Racist? I think not!)

not just pouring as many bullets into the enemy as you can until they finally die.
And yet, it rewards bullet spam a lot more because even if you miss your target you can still hit and instakill the ones behind your original target. Deep Impact makes getting kills in most levels trivial because you only need 2 or 3 hits to kill through walls(compared to the normal 4-8 through a wall)
Not really because bullet spam just announces your location to every nearby enemy, and will be more effective at getting you killed than getting you kills. I've never seen nor can I imagine someone in a hardcore game spamming bullets everywhere and getting anything more than a quick death.
I have no experience with CoD5, but in CoD4 the maps were so small that a single player could cover 30%-60% of a map by shooting through walls. The maps where it was harder there would be places where you could hide and cover large areas of the map.

To clarify, with "bullet spam" I mean how most people play online shooters. Spending at least 3 seconds to shoot at an enemy, never aiming properly and only autoreloading.
I think the small maps make stealth even more important: you start shooting wildly and give away your location and there's an enemy around the corner ready to kill you.

HC doesn't require more skill.

The small amount of weapon balance the game has is ruined, in CoD4 all weapons are equal or have a small benefit but HC favours the 30+ damage weapons and fast firing high-ammo/accuracy weapons.
This also removes the use of about half the perks in the game. In CoD4, only Claymores, Juggernaut, Overkill, UAV jammer, Deep Impact and Sleight of Hand have a real use. The rest is there to look pretty.

The lowered health promotes camping because it's the only guaranteed way to be faster than your enemy.

Agreed with everything you said. Whats really funny is how people insist hardcore takes more "skill" when the average hardcore match turns into a "who can get to the best camp spot first with a p90" game.

Hardcore is a G3 tag fest, and it doesn't require more skill.

Hardcore requires:
A: A very good connection, as often that'll mean the difference between a good and bad K/D
B: Camping. Put on Dead Silence, UAV Jammer, and a Silencer and camp.
C: Seeing your enemy first. Hardcore only requires you see the guy before he sees you, not much more, and certainly not aim

Aim is not required in Hardcore, as a M9 to the foot from half the map away will usually kill in 1 hit. So you see someone, you simply fire in that direction and you'll probably get a kill. It doesn't require you be able to aim and hit your target more than once.

The lack of map I find to be insanely annoying, not because I can't see red dots, but because I can't see green triangles.

My hardcore setup is as follows:

G3
RPG
Sonic Boom
Martyrdom

and I attempt to see how many allies I can kill in one RPG at the start of the round. Its also fun to screw up your teammates kill streaks with a friendly G3 round to back of the head.

I hate hardcore.

Anyone who complains about "needing a clip to kill someone" sucks at the game and cannot aim. I can kill most people with 2-5 bullets fired with an AK-47 (not all of them hitting), it doesn't require less skill unless you can't aim.
Dude you're a **** if that what you do, ruin other peoples "fun" just cos you don't like it. Heres a novel idea; DON'T PLAY THE GAME

Heh i was thinking the same thing.

I play Hardcore myself, mainly 'cause i dislike how many bullets it takes on normal to take people down. Also having all the map etc bugs me.
I agree "hardcore" is a silly name for it, but meh it's just a label.

Also i was surprised to see so many people mention more campers on hardcore, people are more wary and don't rambo it up running around but i personally haven't really noticed a silly ammount of camping.

I played core HQ pretty much exclusively on COD4 until they came up with Hardcore Headquarters. To me, those two are contain the best of both worlds. You don't get as much of the grenade spam, and you also have to be a lot more careful in everything you do. Air strikes kill teammates, and helicopters do a massive amount of damage. It makes teamwork more integral when that one helicopter can make you lose a HQ.

As far as hardcore elitism goes, however, I disagree. Hardcore doesn't make you better. I regard them both as standalone experiences. People that complain about new or unskilled players need to remember that COD4 is in fact just a game. They have every right to enjoy it as much as anyone else.

I always try to play hardcore because of the realism. The HUD can get very distracting at times, and I prefer games with semi-realistic damage. I also don't like the killcam, mostly because I like sniping. My friend always hates hardcore because he uses a 360. I don't want a game to be like Insurgency (great HL2 mod)with the damage, but a good balance is always nice.

Of course not, but this particular group were utter assholes. Just real bullies. I ended up sending the dude a message saying not to listen to them and that he wasn't a bad player.

I hate people like that.
I'm good at the game, and I am in fact a golden cross 55. But, if noobs are in the game with me, that makes it that much better. If they're on my team, it gives me a chalange, which I always accept and try to carry my team.
If they're on the other team, well, my score can always be a bit higher.
Hardcore is just fun, there's no group of people that should or shouldn't play it.
That's like saying;
"Damn it, your good, get out of Team D and go to Hardcore, you l33t son of a *****!"

hardcore is not too different from the others. it just allows me to laugh at martyrdom users killing their own teammates.

Yes you will. It's called regular Team Deathmatch.
There's more camping and spawning going on in there than any other mode I can imagine.
