I'm not sure even Superman would be "safe" for a Fundamentalist Christian. Superman frequently gets the "Jesus" treatment, which is (generally) considered blasphemous.xXxJessicaxXx said:Also I'm confused why a Fundamentalist Christian runs a comic book shop.. Surely Superman would be the only thing he'd feel comfortable selling. I mean I can't see him reading The Killing Joke...
Yeah it kind of just makes the original story even more bizarre...how is he even running a comic book shop without being offended like this every single day.Zachary Amaranth said:Actually, the more I write, the more I think of other reasons Superman probably doesn't come off as a Christian rolemodel. Especially a Fundamentalist Christian rolemodel.
HA! I find your point freaking hilarious. But I digress, WTF Fundamentalists!?!?DracoSuave said:Ah. Fundies.
Apparently, being a flying alien from a world untouched by Jesus showing morality while teaming up with the daughter of a greek diety and someone given a ring of powerful sorcery by an entity obsessed with the color green doesn't offend his christian sensibilities...
...but saying the word 'God' does.
Yeah. This is why most people shouldn't take them seriously.
Meh I wouldn't really bother looking too hard into it.canadamus_prime said:Did he even say "GD"? When I first glanced at it, I thought he said "go".
I didn't read either of those books and didn't find Swamp Thing lacking in the slightest.Kpt._Rob said:Specifically, the tale from Swamp Thing #1 is referencing the events of Brightest Day #24, and the Brightest Day Aftermath miniseries The Search for Swamp Thing.
I'm not a native English speaker, but I think GD means "goddamn"... not sure...TokenRupee said:I will agree with the guy that Superman should be a role model and shouldn't debase himself using foul language, swears, etc. like other characters might. After all, he's supposed to be the sort of hero that everyone looks up to in that world.
Buuuuuuuut
Complaining about two letters? All I saw was a grunt. I probably would never even have noticed it if not for this guy. And I do agree with some of the other people here. If he has no problem selling more mature and violent comics like "The Boys" and such, then I don't see why he's making a stink of this. Yet the problem is that there is nothing to be upset about, leading me to believe he's just doing it for publicity.
Yeah, by the end of the year he'll be boycotting everything but The SpecterMatimus said:God alone knows what this guy made of Spider-Man selling his marriage to The Actual Devil.
