I don't read comics, but is it ever implied anywhere what Superman's actual religious beliefs are? And yeah, "GD" sounds more like an implied grunt. This guy is all kinds of ridiculous for boycotting the books based on that.
Justice League. Thats it.FangShadow said:Off-topic: I'm looking to start reading some dc comics...but the sheer amount of titles in the new 52 has left me confused as all hell. what comics should a person read if they want to have the full story on the justice league(normal, not international)?
personallyi thought it was a sound effect from him being hit by the explosion. like how u say ugg, or oof. i thought he was groaning.canadamus_prime said:Did he even say "GD"? When I first glanced at it, I thought he said "go".
Basically. If it is that, I'm more bothered by Morrison using GD instead of saying it. Which is why I take it as a grunt, which implies this man searches for offense to his religion in any tiny area he can find it.seniorsharptothetouch said:I don't know what dumber... That ANYONE would be that offended or that Superman would resort to "geek speak" when taken by surprise.
What's next.. Omg, wtf, rotflol?
Not for superman. For a situation to be stressful for superman i think it requires a deathray. I bet he cant get an erection without a time bomb being around.WolfThomas said:North Carolina Comic shop to receive unnecessary free publicity. I don't even see why it's a problem, it's realistic, people do take the lord's name in vain when in stressful situations, being shot by a tank is stressful.
Maybe he slips Chick Tracts into the issues so the kids discover them? I don't know.xXxJessicaxXx said:Yeah it kind of just makes the original story even more bizarre...how is he even running a comic book shop without being offended like this every single day.
The issue essentially establishes that not only is this him at the very start of his career as Superman, but he's much less powerful. He ends up walking away from that fight fairly bruised and beaten up.boyvirgo666 said:Not for superman. For a situation to be stressful for superman i think it requires a deathray. Why isn't there a commandment against being an attention whore?SomeBritishDude said:Basically Fundementalist Christian runs a comic book shop. Hilarity ensues.
I suppose that he isn't selling "Thor" either since it's pagan propaganda and all that.SomeBritishDude said:As some people may know, DC as just recently relaunched all their books at #1, including the longest running comic book ever Action Comics. Written by Grant Morrison this new interpritation of Superman is much closer to bolder, working mans hero, super jerk of his 1938 dabute, but that's not what's got this comic book guy rialed up.

The funniest thing about it is Superman doesn't say "God". He says "GD" after being shot at by a tank. It could have just as easily been a grunt.

Well to be fair, this comic is actually set in Superman early days and all his powers arn't developed yet. He can't even fly yet. So when a tank shoots him he definitly feels it.Dragonpit said:How did he get "God" out of that!? How would that have been in context with the situation!? Superman can take explosions! He would feel them, yes, but not so much that he would cry out like he was in pain or like he was having some weird orgasm!
I love how calmly you can say that.WolfThomas said:North Carolina Comic shop to receive unnecessary free publicity. I don't even see why it's a problem, it's realistic, people do take the lord's name in vain when in stressful situations, being shot by a tank is stressful.
I'm sorry, how have they become "far too left wing", and how would you correct it?Hmmmm, well I think this is a silly place to draw the line, and religion shouldn't enter into it, but I do tend to agree that comics have been becoming FAR too left wing and need a bit more balance in perspective.
