Retort; You don't buy Activision games based on what Kotick says?
Of course, I don't know whatever or not you boycott them so.

Bioware have said one to many stupid things about a lot of other stuff that doesn't concern them while at the same time, bragging their ass off how they are better. Bioware for me are nothing but a company full of asses.
The things Kotick says are just icing on the cake. What they have done, as a company, is far worse. Just read Shamus's latest Experienced Pointsarticle, then follow the links in it for a pretty good idea of what they're doing, but even then you won't get a full list. The Greg Hastings issue doesn't come up at all. Just google that.

Also, maybe they just don't like JRGPs? I think WRPGs are superior to JRPGs anyday, and they're right, they do have awesome games. They're allowed to brag when they are able to successfully sell a fuckton of a genre of games that isn't FPS or Sports.

Uhhh, none. And pardon the dickish reason, but, there is enough going on in my life that I don't need to embark on a fools errand, for a most likely, very trivial reason.
Not really. Negative press and the refusal to support a company has, at the very least, damaged the sales of that company.

It is exactly your attitude that allows these things to continue.

I'm boycotting Ubisoft. Well actually, that's not totally true. I bought assassins creed 2 yesterday, but I made sure to get it second hand so they wouldn't see a penny of what I paid for it. I'm certainly boycotting giving them any money directly though.

Nabisco.

You're probably all too young to remember the Wheat Thins commercials they did back in the late 80s or early 90s, but I remember them, and I will NEVER forgive.

What are some of the companies you have decided that you're not going to buy from anymore? Are there some that you prefer greatly? If you want to, explain why you are boycotting them, or why you prefer another company.

Here's my list:

1. Activision (We all know about what they've done. xD)
2. Wal-Mart (Terrible, evil business practices that kill small businesses)
EDIT: 3. Apple (Shitty, overpriced products that have better alternatives... except maybe the iPhone 4, but I still say my EVO is better.)
4. Amway (Scroll to bottom to see why.)

That's it for now. Pretty short list.

Now, it's hard for me to find a replacement company for Activision, because only they can publish their games (Starcraft, Black Ops, etc) but that's okay. I think I'll live. Instead of shopping at Wal-Mart for my groceries, I go to Hy-Vee (Might be a local store) or I go to Target sometimes as well, though I doubt they are any better than Wal-mart is.

If I don't buy a game online, the one place I always go is GameStop. I'm gonna' explain why, but it's long-winded and preachy so I'll spoiler it. XD I could totally do an ad for these guys.

I know they've done some pretty shitty things, and their trade-in policy is shit, but at my local GameStop, they treat me real well. It's right by my house, the staff knows me by name, when I'm interested in certain limited items they'll usually contact me first. (Example: Wanted the Modern Warfare 2 Prestige Edition (This was before boycotting Activision...), but they ran out of pre-orders. Some people cancelled theirs, and they let me know before any of the other folks that they had some available.) One day, I was checking on my pre-orders and I think buying a game, when the dude at the counter noticed I had Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood pre-ordered for Xbox 360. He asked me if I had a PS3, and when I said yes he gave me a code for the multiplayer beta. I felt pretty good about that. The people there are just willing to go out of their way for me 'cos I shop there a lot, I guess, and that's enough to keep me coming.

EDIT: Oh yeah, I also really like Steam, for no other reason than they have a lot of really good deals, and they still allow full support for modding.

Other than that, I don't have many other preferred or avoided companies. Maybe you guys can change my mind?

EDIT: Here's a video for why Amway is a piece of shit organization:

All the same companies as you. Except for steam, I love steam.

All their retarded quotes aimed at Japanese RPGs amongst other.
So...

You don't buy their products because they have said bad things about JRPGs?

*Chuckle* Sorry, that just seems a little petty.

I'm only boycotting Activision and I have done for around 3 years. I do honestly see it ending soon though because CoD:Black Ops looks and sounds absolutely fantastic. I want to buy it just to support Treyarch... but it's still Activision ;_;

I doubt I'm gonna get lucky enough that my uncle buys black ops, doesn't like it and gives it to me like he did with Modern Warfare 2. He's gonna avoid CoD now of course.
Don't give in! Stay way from Black Ops! You can do it!
Is so tempting though :(

On the JRPG thing; he's just the worst kind of fanboy. I personally love JRPG's - FF, Suikoden, Grandia, Dragon Quest, Shin Megami Tensei and so much more but I, like actual JRPG dev's, can see when the genre needs a bit of mixture. Even FF is taking that route - look at how the series has changed in just 3 (single player) games. X was the first linear FF, not too linear letting you move around. XII was similar to a MMO in style. XIII was around as linear as the average FPS, just with the usual epic JRPG story.

Changes need to be made. It's how games evolve. Making some of the older ones is still nice though, no need to leave things behind completely.

I am not boycotting anything, I buy things I like/need, I don't buy things I don't like/need. The company behind the product is irrelevant to me. I don't try and kid myself that my one lost sale will somehow change them or influence them. If I get what I want, I am content.

The list is long offensive and filled with unforgivable sins.

Square-Enix: for making something like 14 unforgivable abominations.
Honda: for the prius, in the real world a BMW M-3 gets better economy.
BMW: for making the M-5 in an estate car version.
Ailenware: you know what you've done and you have not yet begun to pay the price.
Apple: for pretending to be a computer company, those dirty liers.
Rainbow Foods: because I work at CUB foods.
Infinity Ward: for not thinking outside the box in how many years now?!
Spain: you just had to have your own language.
Hewett Packard: the left hinge on my computer is still broken even after being sent in for repairs.
Adobe: because mute apparently means different things than what you claim it means.
Scott: Low tack tape that leaves marks on glass is not low tack now is it.
Blackwater Defense: for shooting civilians in iraq because they did not recognize your authority.

I think thats about all of them...

Comeon people, Zygna. It sets a terrible precedence for a bunch of other casual gaming companies, manipulates people, and generally has bad business practices.
Why is no one else boycotting this?

Coco-Cola, I was watching a documentary recently about the water crisis all over the world and it highlighted an issue with coco-cola in india. They built a factory over there presumably for cheap labour and what not, but where they built it has drained nearly all of the water from the underground resivoirs and wells to make their drinks. Farmers are desperately struggling now to survive, lack of water mean less sanitation, can't clean clothes, can't grow crops, can't feed livestock, increased risk of disease and so on. But does Coco-Cola care about this? No, they still maintain that the drought isn't their fault, despite the fact that they year they first built the factory the water levels have plumeted. In fact they had the sheer gaul, the sheer bloody minded pig ignorance to blame it on the farmers. Yes those selfish farmers and villagers squandering all that water away on food and clean clothes and livestock. Agriculture uses more water than making Coco-Cola does, but when the farmers use the water it doesn't just disapear, it goes back into the eco system, back into the water cycle and replenishes the wells. When Coco-Cola uses the water it gets exported to the west in Coke bottles, completely removed from the ecosystem. It takes 3 litres of water to make one litre of Coke.

But Coke doesn't care, they'll drain the entire area and then just go set up shop somewhere else.
