Fallout 1 and 2 - I tried, but soon after leaving the tutorial area I wander into a random encounter that kills me. I even tried guides, but still :/

Baldur's Gate - same problem as with Fallout. An hour or two into the game I just hit a wall. And when I have to consult a guide to tell me how to build a character it just isn't fun anymore.

Deus ex Human revolution. I just couldn't get into it and never got past chine.

Fallout new vegas. I was alright at first but got bored since I didn't really like the setting.

DOTA 2. I only just recently tried this and may give it another go again when they release a tutorial but so far I prefer LoL.

Morrowind. Shit combat, uninteresting story, incredibad interface, and wooden world. I had some fun messing around with it, but I never really found it to be the holy mecca of RPG's that everyone seems to consider it.

AssCreed, I didn't mind the first one despite the slightly wonky tutorials, but as soon as I finished the introductory level I just stopped caring, I haven't gotten past the first 15 minutes of AssCreed2. Perversely I played all of The Saboteur twice.
That's because the Saboteur was just damn awesome! Playing an Irish Racing car driver in Paris killing Nazis is a much better premise! Also the artwork/graphics were really well done, and the whole red only - colour was a great idea! One of my favourites too!

OT: I have tried and tried to get into some of the old RPG's like Ultima and Planetscape, but once you go too old I find the fun is sapped out! The interfaces are far too dated, and detract from the gameplay too much, and it is to slow to play!

On the other hand Baldurs Gate and NWN are great!

Kingdom Hearts RE: CoM

That damn battle system. And I was willing to give it a lot of leeway due to KH 1 and 2 being my favorite games of all time. Why? Just why did they change the battle system into a a bloody card game?

Half-life 2 is not a good game. It's not a bad game, and I do give respect to its modding capabilities.

But in all seriousness, it is just shit. It's boring. The characters are not interesting and it has a shit ending as well.

Also, weapon variety sucks, people think it has weapon variety? HA!
Thank you. Finally someone admits that Half-life 2 is not the universe changing game some people claim it to be. I really tried to enjoy the game but what I got was a boring story with characters I didn't give two shits about. I just couldn't finish it fast enough for me to return back to games like TF2 or Oblivion where I found more enjoyable. Seriously though Half-Life 2 was torture.

All RPGs that aren't Paper Mario. I just can't do it. I also hate creating my own character. The most recent game that I wanted to like but just couldn't was Deus Ex, and I also abandoned Gears of War 3 halfway through, despite being a big fan of the series (someone dropped a huge spoiler on me).

Sometimes I wish I wasn't so picky, maybe my life would be more fun.

I'm probably going to be taken behind the barn and shot for this but I have to go with Mass Effect.

I played it for about three hours straight, which is a long session for me, and then never touched it again. Absolutely nothing about the game hooked me in and I have no idea what the fuss is about, and though I may give it a try again some day I'm in no great hurry.

Metro 2033. I could not get past the first hour of that game. My friend brought it over and he had been raving about it in the Xbox live party for the past two weeks. So, I am like "Alright, I'll try this." We started playing and I was almost falling asleep half an hour in.

Just about every cover shooter and JRPG out there.

I desperately try to get into Fallout New Vegas but my OCD just clashes with it so much so that I'm incapable of even playing it anymore.

2 Games:
1: The Splinter Cell series. I have all of them except for Double Agent, and I've only been able to finish the first one and Conviction, and those I got through barely. I don't know what it is; I enjoy stealth, and I really like Michael Ironside, but for some reason I just can't manage to finish them.
2: Fallout. I always hear praise for it's story and humor, but I can hardly bear the turn based combat. I don't really mind turn based combat, but in Fallout it's just so SLOW. you have to wait for the enemies to move, then they have to think for a tiny bit, then they finally decide to attack you, and then you have to go through the exact same thing with his 5 buddies. I know you can turn up the enemy turn speed, but then it just gives the weird impression that everyone in the world moves way faster than I do. Maybe I'll pick up on it again some other day.

Oh, and I've never finished Thief: The Dark Project. Maybe I do have an issue with stealth games, and I've just never figured it out. I loved Deus Ex and Metal Gear Solid, though. Hmm.

It has to be Batman: Arkham City for me(I didn't play the Arkham Asylum). To me, the combat was so frustrating that I could not even defeat that "first boss" in the game (some large clown with a hammer or something), it was a discomfiture,(also the fact that enemies had guns and I had the worst stealth). The scenery was quite humdrum as was the combat, I didn't much invest in the story/side quests as that was bland too and this overall made me abandon the game in a matter of three to four hours. The worst part is that I bought the game...I should now look at let's plays first or just rent games that I decide want to invest my time in. I might also say that I didn't much enjoy the first Mass Effect either, but I might have to play it a little longer.

Almost entirely this. There were a fair few weapons in the game, but none of them were revolutionary (Yeah, the grav gun was a'ight, but not fantastic). I also thought having to swap to another weapon to throw a grenade or beat someone manually was fuckin' archaic. I'm not a fan of the instant kill knife in CoD/Battlefield, but I like in games like Halo, or Mass Effect, where the melee is either a part of the weapon, or just something that isn't considered an entire weapon in itself. I also agree that the the story was crap (Or lack thereof from 2 onwards) and the only interesting character is the G-Man, simply because no one knows what the hell he is.
I hate people who play old games and try to hold them up to modern standards. You (and the quotee) were just late to the party.
Yeah...because about two days after it came out was late to the party. Way to fuckin' assume. The thing is, Halo 1 (Which came out nearly three years before HL2) did FPS gameplay really well. Gratned, one could argue it streamlined a lot of the combat, but who the hell wants to be being charged by an enemy, and then have to switch to another weapon since grenades are an entirely separate item to use? And then other FPS games started to follow suit. And then HL2 was released, and went back to basics.

That's not late to the party OR trying to hold old games to modern standards. That is having seen gaming grow and evolve from bloody Pong. And then a game does nothing new, and actually take a few steps back, and then people applaud it and praise it higher than Catholics praise God.

Put nearly every jRPG on the list for me. In most I have trouble even getting to the end of the first Act. Just too many annoying little things that come up when I play one.
Same here. I just can't get into most JRPGS. I don't like the aesthetics, the presentation...none of it just works for me, so I tend to stay away from it.
That's something. People call Final Fantasy style JRPGs RPGs, and yet a lot of them are some of the most painfully linear games ever.

Linearity isn't a bad thing, it's just when you have the audacity to call a game a Role Playing game when it so badly minimizes any actual role playing.

Skyrim. I played it for a while, but after getting roughly 25 quests stacked up on my to-do list, I just lost interest. I loved Fallout 3 though, strangely.

Just Cause 2, I guess it doesn't really count since I got SUPER into it for a good 3 months. But in that time, I did absolutely no quests (save the first two that it forces you to do). I spent a good week just at the big airport, finding new ways to crash planes hilariously. After a while I kind of ran out of things to do, and the actual missions are pretty bland.

As much as I love Legend of Zelda, I just can't do Wind Waker. I love the aesthetic, I love the story, I love the music, I love Zelda games in general, but that ocean man. That fucking ocean. Traveling from one island to another for like ten minutes at a time is just grueling. And yes, I know there's traveling time in every Zelda game, but none of them are quite as big as Wind Waker's ocean. I also have an irrational fear of vast landmark-less places (like the middle of the ocean), and a healthy fear of tornadoes, having lived in Oklahoma all my life, so of course they play a prominent role in the game. Call me a wimp all you want, whenever a random tornado spawns (even in Skyward Sword) I shit myself a little bit.
