"Console gaming is better because it just works"... still a valid argument?

I think whatever you choose is what you like. I prefer pc's for shooters but consoles for other games it all depends on what you're used to.

Ah, the age old argument bound to turn parties sour.

I prefer console gaming, but simply because of the controller, I cant get used to keyboard and mouse controls as I was brought up on using controllers. I have tried the Xbox controller for windows but the lack of dead zone for the controller on most games I'd like to play kills it for me.

However, with gimmicks having a bigger influence in the gaming market, such as the new motion gaming, PC would have to change its formula to keep up, which is hard for PC to do as a PC never really changes, it just upgrades. If Natal and the Playstation motion controller really pick up and the future of gaming becomes motion sensitive, I think PC gaming would find it hard to keep up to date due to a lack of generations of the PC. However, that all said, I hope motion sensoring dies a horrible painful death, it ruined the Wii and it looks grim for the PS3 and 360.

Also, with the increase of stuff youd only get on a PC appearing on the 360 and PS3, for example Facebook, MSN, Sky Movies, it shows that while consoles will never replace PCs, it isnt as disadvantaged as it once was
Well, considering you can actually get a Wii controller to work for your PC enabling motion control... There's actually a step by step article in PopSci magazine a while back on how to do it. Not to mention being able to get PS3 and Xbox controllers for a PC. The sheer versatility of PC completely trumps any and all "ease of use" for me, personally.

BTW... your avatar is pure and complete win. I salute you.

PCs are great if you spend the money to keep everything current, and spend on upgrades. Also, they have a higher cost-barrier to entry if you want a gaming machine that is current. Sadly, the need for many publishers to be bleeding edge in technology has caused that cost barrier to be an issue against them.

Consoles, on the other hand, are easy. Easy to install (Hit X. Wait. Done.) and you can lay down easily and control them without having to deal with a keyboard and a mouse somewhere.

When the difference in entry point for real gaming is 1000$ or more in difference, then 'it just works' is a very real argument.

As in 'it works just as well for a quarter of the price.'

I agree the PC is versatile, but Nintendo would never allow Wii games to play on the PC, so the only way theyd get that motion control is through pirating and emulation. I think getting PC motion control wouldnt be hard, the hard part would be getting it a universal motion controller that all games used, because then it wouldn't be keyboard and mouse based, just another controller based system, which would make alot of PC gamers rage their pants off.

Thank you, I do love this avatar, it was a lucky find

Well, my pc died last june and my steam account magically vanished off the face of the earth, yet my ps3 and wii never ever did anything out of the ordinary.
Seriously, its steam and valve's fanboyism that put me off pc gaming.

And, with the above quote, I have managed to prove that no-one is better than anyone else.

I've never really been a part of the "Console war". I just play PC games because I have always had a PC and I prefur the controls (and mods). I have had fun playing console games at friends houses as well, I just personally prefer PC. It's up to individual prefference.

I'm sorry but you are trolling.
OT all games come out with bugs and glitches no matter what system you get them on.
HE is actually not trolling. Trolling is stating an opinion as fact and all other being wrong. If he said omg console gamers are retards they thinkg PC is crap because their stuff works right away. well they are wrong for reason post and never will be right that is a troll.

OT: No this is not a valid arguement and never had been so I don't see why peopel continue to make it.

It never actually has been a valid argument in the first place.

PC gaming works grand, otherwise I wouldn't be doing it. A bit more effort sure, but the payoff is usually better.
I can't say anything but that I totally agree with this. Also, you can upgrade PCs, you can do other things with it in addition to gaming, you can plug in a controller and much more.

Oh come on. How often on these forums do PC gamers get targeted? It's ridiculous. Suddenly I make a thread where it's the other way around and that's unacceptable yet going around calling PC gamers elitists all the time is ok huh?

God this website is full of hypocrite fanboys.

Did I say 'that's unacceptable'? No. I said 'No-one is better than anyone else'. To elaborate: Console gamers are no better than PC gamers, PC gamers are no better than console gamers. Let us/them get on in mutual hatred acceptance.

console gaming is better because you just have to buy the console and game, not the console, game, graphics card, ram, new processor, new monitor....etc.

Meh ive grown up a console gamer but PC is where its at for me and i have to say these arguments just dont cut it in my opinion. One of the better arguments is along the lines of you can buy a game and not have to worry about system requirements.

You know, that's exactly the same for me? Steam's just stopped working for me, too. Pile of crap that it is.
