well my friend and I always wished we could play games .hack style as in its a virtual reality you get to actually BE IN it would be awesome for games like monster hunter provided while in the games you have the proper skills to do the things needed to play
i agree that would indead be awesome :D

How would I know what we won't achieve in the future?
I may be long dead, but that's not the point.
Anything's possible, given enough time.

Light speed space ships. Its too bad our bodies would rip apart and collapse if they were moving at such a speed.
Do you mean this as in the ship travelling at the speed of light from it's own perspective or an outsider's perspective?

If former, then I almost agree. I know enough to know that all we know is liable for change and this is such a theoretical level of physics that we most certainly don't know enough to proclaim it inherently impossible with certainty.

If latter, well...

Theoretically, if we had a substance with negative energy content, we could create a star-trek warp-drive look-a-like that worked not by accelerating the ship but by bending the space around it. The ship would never reach super-luminal speeds from it's own perspective, but due to the constant expansion of space behind it and contraction ahead of it caused by the 'warp'-drive, the ship would apper to move at speeds over the speed of light.

With sufficiently controlled acceleration of the ship itself within the warp-'bubble' using such a drive, no ill effects should ail the frail bodies of the crewmember on board.

Again, the theory for how such a drive would work exists, the mathematics pan out and the currently known laws of physics would not go haywire. So if we do find sufficient amounts of substance with negative energy content, we could in fact create such a warp-drive.

And considering how little we currently know of exotic particles, Dark matter and Dark Energy and of the true nature of quarks and quantum gravitation, I wouldn't say finding such extraordinary matter would be impossible or that a drive utilizing such will never exist.

One thing that would be cool to discover is the way to put a GIF image on cloth and print out an animated t-shirt.
Their already working on that o_o

Plus i know that holograms probably wont be made anytime soon
Oh, really? [http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=deoOTqT-SMI&feature=related]
Wow.. that's not fake at all... lol

Teleporters.

Not that I don't think the technology can ever be made, I just don't think anyone would use a device that's primary function is to kill you by evaporating your body then replace you with an identical copy at the other end. It wouldn't take long for someone to figure out that you die every time you use it and someone else comes back...
Bah, word for bloody word. Yes, Teleporters are something that will probably never happen. That, and (backward) time travel devices.

an artificial inteligence that can out think a human on anything OTHER than its very specific topic(eg chess) and can do so while perceiving and interacting with its environment as we do.

personaly i dont think that good ai will ever realy happen cos we wont build it, we may work out how - but we wont use it. Even the military who are the usual culprits for tech abuse wouldnt go near this because its much beter to have a soldier that folows ords WITHOUT thinking for itself.

You might want a look at this, it's halfway to the place you want your t-shirts to be :)

I saw some Eurotrash wear that at the Las Vegas Airport playing techno. It screams " I am an asshole on E!"

actually... never mind.
as I have said many a time:
If Humans Can Dream It, They Can Build It.
never doubt that. nothing is impossible as long as we believe that inescapable truth.
while I too believe that nothing is impossible, I think it highly improbable to create a jetson style car-which-turns-into-a-briefcase. I also think the whole, food-pellet-that-turns-into-a-full-cooked-meal-with-just-a-drop-of-water is also highly improbable. I don't mean the astronaut food or instant ramen either: I mean the tylenol sized pill that, when you add water, becomes a fully cooked turducken or, roast beef and mashed potates, ya know?

An invention that I'd really like, but is never going to be a reality, is peace.

Not exactly technology, but still. We will never have it.
Indeed, no invention that will be created wont ever help pushing the world to a more peaceful time. Unless they somehow manage to make some sort of P(eace)-bomb, filled with all the love, rainbows, sunshine, bunnies and stuff.

I'd like to have something(a suit or machine or something else entirely)that made it completely unnecessary to eat, drink, breathe, sleep, stay in in one dimension, among loads of other things, and that was anti- gravity, could travel at ANY speed, could grow me/it/us as large or small as I wanted and was completely indestructible except when I(and only I) needed to destroy it.Once destroyed,I could simply will it back into existence if I needed it again.

Did I just decribe a lamp of unlimited wishes?
The Green Lantern's Ring?
The Glowing Pebble of Immense and Infinite Power?
The Polyester Pantsuit of Incredible Inclination?
The Jock of all Trades?

I'm sorry, but I don't get it. I don't read the bible since I'm a Buddhist.

Ah, but that will exist soon, I've been working on it for some time now.
The machine uses the activation of pain receptors in the brain as it's power source, as the levels of pain felt increase, so does the intensity of the kicking mechanism.
