'The Ungooma are a species of adaptive-intelligence beings that evolved as thought-parasites and later developed their own means of thinking. They are tiny, and their intellect is derived from the combined thoughts impulses of large number of Ungooma. There are trillions of Ungooma and their combined thoughts form many thousands of distinct composite personalities.
Before they become sentient, they would take control of higher animals, using the bodies and minds of their hosts for their own needs. Currently, they no longer possess the ability to take over a host, but they retain the vestigial ability to exert a limited form of mind control at a distance.'

But anyway, Sanghelli, Xenomorphs, Chozo, and the Forerunners are next in line of coolness IMO and they are both equally great but an alien race that is completely energy and who will destroy with impunity anything that poses any threat to them at all definitely wins this one for me.
The tenticles featured in a very obscure game in 1993 by lucasarts. It was an early Tim Shafer game, before he found fame with psychonauts. Come on H.R.Gigers Xenomorphs are the among the greatist artist creations in movies. They realy show Gigers style of machine mixing with lifeforms. Superbly disturbed artist and wonderful creation which since the first Alien made me say "i wound not like to be Ripley".
