Like other people have said install times are horrible. Besides that the only other problem I can think of is price and I only say that since I'm to young to get a job. It's a good quality console that I'm sure you'll like.

The latter is more tedious than a real problem, the former isn't true. When you factor in Xbox Live Gold simply for the privilege of playing online a 360 costs twice as much over the life of the console than a PS3, and that's not factoring in that you'll easily go through two 360s while a PS3 is still going strong.

PS3 is the cheapest of the 3 consoles as far as long term cost goes. With the Wii you end up paying a bunch for all the accessory controllers, for the 360 you're paying for stuff that comes included with the PS3 and for being able to play online.
Thats not true about going through two 360s. Me and 5 of my friends all have 360s and none of them have crashed/RRoD and we have had them for around 4 years. My PS3 on the other hand yellow lighted within a year.
There are always exceptions. Reliability issues for the Xbox 360 are well known, and to suggest it isn't true is absolutely ridiculous.
That is true. I found the average failure rate of a Xbox 360: 59%. Wow, good job Microsoft

Obviously the controller is an issue of preference but I think the PS3 wins out here overall. You can get 360 style controllers for the PS3, or with 360 style triggers but still otherwise like DualShock. For the 360 there's only one option, so if you do happen to prefer the DualShock then the 360 doesn't work out. The PS3 with 3rd party controllers has far more options than the 360.
Since when was this about the Xbox 360? It was about the Pros and Cons of the PS3 not why the ... is better than the ... And 3rd Party Controllers? Xbox360 have Controllers for the disabled! Also, I don't think anyone else would want another version of the current controller as its damn near perfect anyway.

Learn to follow everything that's quoted. A con was listed as worst console controller, that's automatically a comparison with other consoles, and the 360 comes out worse than the PS3, hence the con isn't a valid bullet point.

Possibly the worst Console Controller? As you said, Learn to follow everything that's quoted. Also, I beg to differ that the PS3 is a better console controller than the Xbox 360 Console Controller.

If your 360 RRODs, you can send it in and get a new one for pretty much free. Based on a PS3 owner who got yellow lighted or whatever, he apparently had to pay. Plus Sony is now trying to get subscription for that thing they are adding, and though I understand you can still play online free, if you want to do alot of stuff a gold member on 360 can do, you gotta pay.

The only PS3 specific pros I cna think of, are the exclusives (which is only pro if you want them, as for any system) and if you liek movies and are snobby about it, it has Blu-Ray. Otherwise, its just preference.

Funny how I keep seeing "high price" as a con since that's no longer an issue...0o

Although still, everything else that's been said is pretty accurate.

New 360 doesn't have the extended warranty for RRoD failure since it doesn't have the LED's to produce one. There's nothing in PS+ that you have to pay for that's necessary for online play.

That one word doesn't change anything. That title still clearly goes to the Wiimote regardless, and less options is always a drawback. It's always going to be PS3>360>Wii when it comes to controllers.

I was so into my Xbox and played it more than my PS2 when they were the market leaders a few years ago so it made sense that I bought a 360 when they were released.
I had no end of problems with it and the customer support was a disgrace so I gave up and got a PS3 and I have never looked back.
I love my PS3 and I would recommend it to anyone. I have never had a single problem with it in the past couple of years I have had it and the BluRay is an added bonus which is the best way to watch any movie if you have a huge HD TV.

Buy one and enjoy :)

Now i've heard my fair share of stories and most of them have been about how good the PS3 is. Im curious has anyone had any problems or major issues with the PS3 so far, not like nit picky things that are just tiresome. I've had my X-box for 2 years now and i've definently had my fair share of problems with it, im asking this because in a few monthes im getting my own PS3 and i'd like to know what im up against as far as big problems. Of course I also want to hear some of the good stuff about it but thats a slippery slope because i've heared soooooo many good things about it that im wondering if its got any problems at all.
My little brothers BluRay drive stopped working once. The console itself was still usable though, he could just not play games from the BD drive.

I personally have never had any problems with my PS3, it keeps ticking away like a good little console.

Then again I never had any issues with my 360 :p

so you probably will not have many issues with it.

All in all I prefer my PS3 to my 360, mainly because it has a Blu Ray player, and I prefer the menus on the PS3.

Also I am more comfortable with the PS3 controller after years of PS1-2-3 playing :)

Pros- It isn't an Xbox.

Cons- It isn't a PC.

I jest, I jest. Seriously;

Pros: inFAMOUS, KillZone 2, Blu Rays, MotorStorm, Free Online Play.

Cons: Game installs.

I have one, and these are all I can think of.

okay. umm....

Pros: you gain access to a variety of games that are solely released onto the playstation. (metal gear, God of war, Killzone)
Cons: you risk shelling out a large amount of cash on both a console (which can cost about 199$ USED) as well as building up a new collection of games (which can cost anywhere from upwards of 50 dollars for new releases)

I don't have any major gripes with my PS3, but I have the full phat PS3 with everything it had in the first place (apart from Linux), I can even play Super Audio CD's if I so wish.

Game installs don't bother me at all, since I used to play on PC's and installs come with that territory.

You don't get a choice about installs but in my experience not alot of games install.

Besides a few crashes I have never had a problem with my launch PS3, my only small gripe is my analogue sticks stick sometimes.

I assume there just in need of a good clean but with what?
Wet wipes or rubbing alcohol works a treat, I disinfected mine yesterday because my cousin had a piss and didn't wash his hands the dirty French git.

Also, you may have recieved a message on PSN from me in French yesterday, sorry about that!, I forgot my MW2 disk is in French.

The installs are not so bad.. I don't get all the outrage. Plus, most of the exclusives don't even need installs(MGS4 is sadly the exception), and they have great loading times. It's a lazy way out for multi-platform games.

Pros: BD drive, amazing exclusives, online is free, loads of PS1 and PSN games available for purchase, great media centre.
Cons: Gets shitty treatment for multi-platform games, although this is getting better over time.

For most multi-platform games you won't even notice the difference unless you put them next to each other. For others the difference is huge (Bayonetta is one such case).

It all boils down to which exclusives you prefer. I for one am not a Halo fan, and I get my 3rd person fix from Uncharted, so I don't really miss Gears. Only game I wish I could play is Alan Wake.

On the other hand: Uncharted 1&2, Ratchet and Clank, Infamous, MGS4, Heavy Rain, Demon's Souls, Resistance, Killzone.

Matter of taste, IMO.

oh another pro I forgot:

It uses a lot more standard cables and components.

That means you can just get a 2.5' hard drive if you wnat more disc space. Need a charger for your controller, use a standard normal to mini USB cable. Power cable? use the same as you have on your computer.

Con:
It might be harder to swap the hard drive, not sure since I have not done so myself.

A friend of mine with a 60GB launch PS3 recently started having some problems, but I know two more with launch models who still have none.

I don't know anyone with a PS3 who isn't happy with it, while I know plenty who are unhappy with their 360s.
Well it sounds like all your friends have launch PS3s. The launch PS3s have problems that have been fixed.

OT: The Good:
It plays Blu-Ray
It's cheaper in the long run (you don't have to pay to play)
High quality exclusives (like inFamous, Uncharted, MGS4, Heavy Rain)
Sony still allows free content on PlayStation Network

The Bad:
While exclusives are (in my opinion) better on the PS3 Multiplatforms are far more often than not superior on the Xbox 360.
Installs are mandatory (though, I don't remember the last game I installed)
Game Updates are a step behind mandatory (if you choose not to download the update, it keep asking, interrupting your game)
