They could, but why alienate so much of your base like that? They are still trying to make money.

You said it yourself, even with all this:

MS was able to pay SE enough to port FFXIII to the 360, advertise only the 360 version, AND get a bundle only for the 360.
They were still outsold on the ps3. It wouldn't make any sense.

Not like I care, I wouldn't mind square going 360.

I'm a 360 owner and I hope it doesn't.

The less exclusives gamers have to deal with the better.

If Square was going to play favorites on a single system, why do they make tons of games for the Wii? Why, if they suddenly want to up and only hypothetically produce games for the 360, would they still be creating DragonQuest 9 and 10 for Nintendo?

Your first point is really stupid, sorry but your telling me my opinions. I preferred the PS3 exclusives, the general opinion might be 360 had better ones, not everybody thinks the same you know.

I put forward my opinion and you say my comment is opinionated, no shit, really? Just read you gave your opinion on the psp, hypocrite?

Anyway, if it's not worth discussing why are you discussing it?

Like I said I am not a FF expert so that was pretty much a shot in the dark, I also never considered the off shoot portable games.

You tell me to point to articles and you point to no articles saying I am wrong, if you really wanted to show me how wrong I was wouldn't you do that. Were my points wrong by the way? No? So wheres your point?

I have had 1 PS, 1 PS2, 1 PS2 slim and 1 PS3. I only got the slim 'cos we sold the "phat". But more on topic it's been a few years after the ps2 and xbox, the PS3 and 360 was released you think they would have come further in reliability to have something with a failure rate as the 360 is awful.

http://consumerist.com/2009/08/xbox-360-failure-rate-is-542-percent-game-informer-finds.html

That website says 360 breaks 5 times more than PS3! 54.2% failure rate.

I would much rather be left alone online than all the complaints I have heard on this forum about squeaky kids, swearing and racial insults, of course it happens on PS3. I actually got a message calling me a "fucking ****" for killing the same guy 10 times in one match (I was just looking for him but he kept running in front of me, should I just let him kill me).

Then you give another opinion after saying my opinion was opinionated, you may prefer the 360 congrats and all that but I prefer the PS3. To me it's not just about the games, I have 400 dvds, I prefer the controller (oh shit, another opinion) I am used to it and I prefer the way there were charged, in the long term it's alot cheaper, I prefer it's looks (I love things in black).

You can think one is better than the other, I could really care less. I've got my PS3 and I love it, I obviously think it's better than the 360 otherwise I wouldn't have got it.

What you really need to do here is compare the PS3 sales to the sales of let's say, Final Fantasy 12 and 10. If they are roughly the same, then that only means that the slew of Final Fantasy loving 360 owners bought this shiny new toy that was kept away from them for so long.

SquareEnix's flag ship franchise is Dragon Quest. Not Final Fantasy.

DRAGON QUEST.

Dragon Quest is an insane cultural phenomenon in Japan, and as a result, SquareEnix will tend to put their flagship out on the most prolific platform in their country.

Which is why it's on the DS.

360 is not the most prolific platform. It's not even second-most. It's not even CLOSE.

So Square-Enix will not look at the 360 as their exclusive; the only time they were exclusive is when Nintendo owned them.

They are in the business of selling games. They are not in the business of making games for systems that do not have market saturation in their primary market.

All the FF13 experiment has shown them is that cross-platform games can sell well. That doesn't mean it's worth the development cost, however. That's something only they can answer.

However, the smart money is on them making -less- exclusive games. Not more. In fact, part of their current business strategy is taking old exclusive games and producing them for more systems, remakes.

Why would they kill these revenue streams just to satisfy what is, in Japan, a minority?

Regardless, -any- discussion on SquareEnix's business strategy that does not include the words Dragon or Quest is completely ignorant of the company.

no way Squares largest fan base is in Japan and the 360 might as well be non existent in Japan so it would make more sense to stay with Sony and Nintendo(as far as the contract allows anyway)

Why would they limit themselves like that?
No. SE, as I predict it, meaning in my completely amateur opinion, will spread themselves across all systems. You know... Like they've been doing. Why do people act like FFXIII being ported was such a big deal?

I feel like I should clarify. I meant SE could go 360 exclusive IN NORTH AMERICA AND/OR EUROPE. Look, in Japan, FF and PlayStation are like Mario and Nintendo. But in the States, it appears that much of the American user base who bought PS2's so they could play FF games migrated to the 360 this gen because of the price disparity. Then, when FFXIII came out on the 360, they thought, "Hey, why get a PS3 now?"

Look, there's no way FF is going 360-exclusive in Japan. But here in the States, MS could essentially pay SE to not develop for the PS3 by paying them enough to make up for the loss they would incur. If SE is only interested in making money, why wouldn't they go for it?

Square Enix is a huge whore. If anything, they wish they could release their titles on more systems.

Uh... because it makes absolutely no sense to develop a game for the PS3 and then not translate it into English for one system if you're going to do it for a different console anyway?
Who even suggests an argument that terrible?

Unlikely, but I'd laugh if they did.

You'd be able to hear the collective booing from space, and it's echo would reverberate around Earth like the Cloverfield monster for years to come.

No, just no.
But the reason is because they only made a port over the XBOX
They were originally going to make it for PS3 only...
Am I right?
Something like that happened anyway...

I don't see the point on not being multiplatform. There's such a small difference between the 360 and PS3, people are throwing away millions in profits by not being multiplatform.

There's no way in hell that FF is going to be 360 exclusive. Just be happy that you guys got it at all.
