after the booing they got in London? SE knows what would happen to them from their fanbase if they made that move.

there would be a terrorist cell made of Final Fantasy purists designed to take SE down for their sins.

SE has many different games, but to alienate their flagship fanbase? HUMBUG!

See, this is what I mean. Clearly, SE is interested in developing for the 360. If the 360 can pay them enough, why not go exclusive in NA and Europe?

What??? No!

They have a better dedicated fanbase who own playstations - a fanbase that would be pissed off if they switched to xbox. The sales in Japan are primarily on ps3, and these sales are VERY important for squeenix.
Also, apparently FF13 was better on ps3 than on the 360... which suggests that their experience on sony's console is alot better than on the 360. I have nothing against them porting to the xbox, but there is no reason for them cutting out the playstation fans.

My final point: http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/99098-Final-Fantasy-Fans-Boo-Xbox-360-at-London-Event

Let's say XIII ends up selling 50-50 between the 360 and the PS3 in NA and Europe. That would give SE incentive to make VXIII and/or XIV and/or XV multiplat. If even one of those ends up selling more on the 360, wouldn't it make sense for SE to just drop PS3?

This thread has already been done but 'cos your knew I will let you off.

FF will never be 360 exclusive, squuenix would take substantial losses from sales if they did.

Even if there percentages were the other way round they would never do it 'cos they will be losing half of there sales and any company who voluntarily loses that much business wont have money for long.

There is no logical reason to make it exclusive, other than sony and squuenix have a falling out like they did with linux then it will never happen.

Maybe you (and the other person who posted this thread) want another 360 exclusive but it isn't going to be FF. It seems a little greedy and selfish to me.

I doubt it...why would they limit their user base like that?

On the other hand, it is Micro$oft's turn...

Someone needs to learn the difference between a developer and a publisher. The game listed there is DEVELOPED by another company all Squareenix is doing is PUBLISHING it. If you read the article the company is a small time developer who only use Square to publish some of their games. It is no indication that Square have any interest in going 360 exclusive. In fact correct me if I am wrong but isn't the next part of the FFXIII saga going to be a PS3 exclusive?

First of all, ditching the PS3 market is just stupid, considering Japan mainly has PS3s rather than 360s, and even then, from a business viewpoint, it brings in more money. No developer (Unless you're first party) would go from multiplatform to exclusive since you wouldn't be making as much money since only one group of people (PS3 or 360) would buy your game. Going multiplatform means you would get money from both groups.

No.

They always do multiple consoles, they dont tie them selves down with one revenue stream.

Hasn't SE released more 360 exclusives than PS3 exclusives? Aren't there more total SE titles (including multiplats) on the 360 than there are on the PS3?

Recent sales numbers indicate that the breakdown of Final Fantasy XIII sales in NA and Europe combined is roughly 60% PS3 and 40% 360, which is MUCH closer than anyone expected. MS was able to pay SE enough to port FFXIII to the 360, advertise only the 360 version, AND get a bundle only for the 360. With that kind of money (this IS Microsoft we're talking about here) and a sizable user base on the 360 (one which may end up equaling the PS3 user base in size), couldn't MS pay SE to develop exclusively for the 360? 360 users clearly want FFXIII and MS could probably pay them enough to offset the money they'd lose by not developing for PS3.
They'd lose 60% of their sales. Why on earth would they go exclusive?

Given that the bulk of their sales are made in Japan where the 360 penertration rate is dramatically overshadowed by the PS3, I'd say the chances are slim at best. Microsoft would be required to front a fair amount of cash to make it happen and I'm not certain what microsoft would have to gain in the exchange.

Possible, but unlikely. Especially with how Squeeniz is so apt to create epic length games, doing so on a such a limited DVD-9 format is much more annoying than throwing it on a Blu-Ray disc.

I love my 360, but MAN I can't stand having to change discs when playing Mass Effect 2.
That is because every time you feel like going back to a quest on Disc 1 the game kindly says feck you. Mass Effect 2 pissed me off so much with that shitty disc system.

Also, hell no. I'd like to see them do more multi-platform games (Kingdom Hearts 3, come on, I can dream), but they'd never go exclusive.
