I've never really had anything creepy, except for one hallucination, while skateboarding I saw a... Something, looked like a Ninja, or maybe a Samurai. I have gotten Sleep Paralysis a few times, which is really weird. My body does weird things while it's asleep...

when i was 14, i wake up in the middle of the night unable to breath because of a strong wind.
As i'm gasping for air the wind dies down and i hear my own name beeing wispered and echoing into silence.

I turned my bedside light on, my brother is still asleep in his bed to the left of me.
Our bedroom door is closed, so are all the windows and doors in the house.

Because everyone in the house was asleep, and i didnt understand what happened i went back to sleep....very easly btw.

Now years later i find myself wondering what it was all about...i allways get tears in my eyes when i think or talk about it...

I have TONS of these...

When I was younger, about 5 or 6, I was playing a game in my room when I looked over to see the door cracked open, and what looked like a person peeking through and a finger wiggling, beckoning me to come to the door. I didn't think anything of it, in fact I assumed it was my mom wanting me to take a bath since it was around that time. I hold up a finger as if to say "One minute." and went back to my game...

A few minutes go by, I turn my game off and head out to the kitchen, and found no one, I then went downstairs and saw my mom. I asked her what she wanted and she looked at me weird... I then explained to her what I saw and she raised her eyebrow at me and blinked a few times... I blink a few times in return.

No one else was home at this time.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Jump several years and a move later... We had moved from our house to my sister's house she used to live in. The family had shared several ghost stories about this house for some time now, yet I had yet to experience one till one summer.

I usually stayed up extremely late into the morning or woke up early. For several days... I would hear AND feel knocking underneath my computer chair coming from the basement... It freaked me out, but I ignored it for a while... One day.. I heard a knock, being annoyed by it now I decide to open up the basement door. I didn't go downstairs... I called out with a "Hello?" and looked around with the lights on. I saw nothing. So I decided to be a smart-ass and knock on the side of the door in return.

I waited a few moments.. Nothing happened... So I shut the light off, and went back into my room... Not even 5 seconds went by since I sat back down on my chair did I hear and feel a loud BANG from underneath my chair! It actually shook things in the room it was that violent... I damn near wet myself... I immediately grabbed a baseball bat and the phone and ran out of the house.

I call my friend, told him to get his ass over to the house because of how terrified I was. I explained to him what had happened, and so he brings his camera and his girlfriend. We decide to head into the basement, he turns the night vision on for his camera and we film with the lights off for several minutes... Seeing nothing, I get a grand idea in my head.

I tell him and his girlfriend to wait in the basement, so I could go into my room and knock where my chair was, and that he or she should stand underneath where I was knocking. I run up, do just that, go back down to find where he was standing.

I look around, and eventually looked up, to find my grandmothers walking stick hanging from a few boards right underneath where he was standing... I quickly move the cane from that part of the basement over to a different part underneath the staircase. I haven't heard that noise since...

My grandmother has been dead for many years before that happened.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This one is related to the last one. After some time had passed, and the creepy noises stopped from the basement. I got pretty psyched at the belief that there might have actually been a ghost in my basement. I had a girlfriend of my own at this point, and she was over to visit.

I like telling these stories, they are so messed up NOT to tell... So that previous story had just been told to this GF at this point. I decide to take her down into the basement. With the lights on. We look around and I ask her if she had a creepy feeling or anything of that sort. She responds with a "Pft... No." So feeling smug I said "Ok.. You wait here and I'll go upstairs." Which she quickly grabs my arm and yells "NO WAIT!!"

Hah! Caught you! Well I laugh and we head upstairs... She closes the door behind her and we have idle conversation for roughly 2 minutes when all the sudden something smacks against the door and starts shaking it.

We both screamed like little girls... Remember how I mentioned that I moved my grandmothers cane to the staircase? Yeah...

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

You know how, whenever there's a spiritual presence, batteries supposedly drain very quickly?

Jump ahead a few months, same girlfriend, same age all that fun stuff. We weren't old enough to drive yet, so in order for me to get home, her brother had agreed to drive me down. She decided to come with.

Half way down the house, her brother asks me if I had ever heard of "Witches Road." I said no of course.

He explains to me that witches road is a haunted area where a house used to be that a lady lived in back in the good ol' days of witch hunts and all that. Long story short, yeah she was burned alive at that area for being a witch.

Fun little story. I gave him that... He asked if we wanted to go, the gf said no, I said fuck that let's GO! So off to witches road we went.

He turns onto this dirt road. That leads back into a forest where there are homes. On the left side was the embankment and on the right was a drop off in the road. Of course to make things more fun, the warning sign that stated that had been smacked to shit. Way to be creepy wood-dwelling families!

So we're driving, no radio, the windows DOWN! "Stupid ex-girlfriends brother and his creepiness." We were having fun. The feeling of being scared was deep in the pit of all our stomaches.

we eventually get closer to witches road, her brother tells us that the closer you get, the more dead the trees looked... Previously the trees were full of life, had leaves, needles, all that fun stuff. When we got closer, EVERY last tree we could see for miles was dead, no leaves, no needles, looked ready to fall over and were extremely tall.

Eventually the dead trees end and we find ourselves on a tiny dirt road with corn stalks on BOTH sides of the car. This left me very unsettled. I rolled my window up and her brother laughed at me.

As we're driving through, we enter the woods again, and he stops in the middle of a small natural intersection in the road and points to the right. The road was filled with bushes and shrubbery and there was a sign that said "Do not enter." Idling the car, he explains that that is witches road.

I was slightly disappointed that we couldn't venture up it, though that disappointment vanished rather quickly when something made a loud thump on the back of the car. GF screams, I look behind me and saw nothing. Her bother looks down at the dashboard to see that his battery light is on. He freaks out, and turns left and heads down the hill and out of the woods...

We make it all but 3 miles to my house before his car finally died. I had to call my sister in law to jump start it so they can get home.

Other happenings in that area

I was still with the same girl, her brother drove, her cousin in the passenger seat, me in the back left seat, girlfriend in the middle back, and her best friend on her right. we make it all the way to the corn field when a frog jumps up and smacks against the windshield and jumps off, I've never heard her brother or cousin scream in such a high pitch before.

Going down the road through the corn field, with the windows open, something moves the corn stalks on the right side of the car right next to the best friend. She shrieks... Gf's brother and I were being dicks and calling out into the field.

We make it to the witches road, and of course we stop the car. Cousin and I hear a low moaning sound and perk up immediately closing our windows and insisting others do the same. We make that same left, and head down the hill a little bit, witches road now behind us. Her cousin hears another low moan, but this time I do not.

Girlfriend was looking behind us at the time, and nudges me instantly. I see what looked like a floating dim light in the shape of the person coming towards the car on MY side. We all gather our attention on it, it was traveling rather slow, when all the sudden out of the opposite side of the road from the woods comes another dimly-lit glowing, hovering figure who also approached the car.

we stare in awe as they come towards us, then all the sudden cousin yells out "GET US THE FUCK OUT OF HERE!!" Her brother starts the car *We had turned it off so we could hear noises better, forgot to mention that part* and drives full speed down the hill. The faster we went, the faster the two figures approached... It was surely not a vehicle because we would have seen it at this point.

He makes a quick right and we get the hell out of there. The 2 figures didn't follow.

I Went there with a few college friends a few years later. We went during the day so they can see the road. Since the road was in such crappy shape and they were driving. I figured it would help them to see it in the daylight... We make it all the way through and down where my ex-girlfriends brother had turned out of the woods, and stopped and looked up the road. There was a small shack at the bottom of the hill that had a bunch of white birds flying over it.

That night, nothing interesting had happened with the witches road, though we stopped at the bottom of the hill and instead of white birds, I noticed a huge family of white mice scurrying around that same location.

A few months ago, my new girlfriend of about 2 years and I decided to go with one of my good friends. While nothing spectacular happened at that area... On the way there, after telling some ghost stories and some one mentioning food, the entire car suddenly stinks of bbq sauce... We all could smell it. It was just, completely random and weird.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Several years ago, different girlfriend. I was taking her down to the house for the first time. Telling her about all the creepy things I've gone through and how I noticed some chain reactions in some of the stories I have yet to write down in this post.

We get to the house, and we stay in the car for a few moments because after talking her ear off, she wanted to tell me a few of her stories. Fun enough, we eventually get out, and make our way to the door.

I happen to look out of the corner of my eye and see some kind of 4 legged creature walking across the driveway a further ways back. I whisper to the gf, asking "Wtf? Do you see that?" She responds with. "Unlock the door, NOW!"

I laugh and went inside. It was common for animals to be out and about at my house. So I didn't think anything of it.

We get settled in and go to bed and talk for a little bit, then out of no where several large thuds and growls happen upon and outside of my window. She freaks, I run over to the kitchen back door, grabbing a knife along the way.

While doing that, I heard another familiar growl followed by a chain of barks and yips.. My dog was outside... I quickly open the door and look to my right (my room is to the right when looking out the door, from which I heard the noise from) and call out my dogs name.

To my surprise, the dog didn't come from that direction, infact it came from the left, which was the direction I had originally spotted that 4 legged creature. She pushes me to the side with her head and forces herself into the house. She is an outside dog, and knew that she wasn't allowed in... She didn't care this time... Her ass was getting in the house.

I immediately close the door and guide her into the garage. Several growling sounds came from outside the door... A glass door mind you, though we didn't see anything. The growling didn't sound like anything either of us could possibly recognize.. It was a mixture of low based human growling mixed with cat and bear... The best I could describe it.

After getting her in the garage. I immediately check her for injuries, though she was fine, but she was scared shitless. I tell her to lay down and I close the garage door. The growling continues from outside the kitchen.

I had argued with the gf about turning off the inside lights so that way i can see better outside, since when you have a light on while inside the house, it reflects off of glass thus making it harder to see outside. I convince her that as long as I was there, she would be safe and she gives me the ok.

We do that... and I could see NOTHING! There was NOTHING there!!!!! Yet we could still hear the noise... The girlfriend was literally hiding under the table at this point. I turn the light on, and get a stupid idea to open up the kitchen window so I could either hear or see it better... The growling had stopped at this point.

I lean against the kitchen sink as I looked out the window, then out of no where a loud and sharp growl came from what sounded like just outside of the window itself... Scared me so bad that I hop backwards before instantly hopping forward again and slamming the window shut.

Eventually we gave up and went to see if my good buddy was online, the same buddy that helped me with the other ghost story about my basement. He wasn't on, but the growling had stopped at this point. I tell her to go in the room and lay in bed while I put the knife away and go to the bathroom before I end up pissing myself.

After doing all that, I go into the room and find her with the blanket up over her head... She tells me that the creature growled and smacked against the side of the house one last time before stopping completely.

It was as if it was mocking me because I was in a different room than her. "As long as I'm here I will protect you."

Haven't heard it since then.

I have TONS more of these, though I tire of writing... Enjoy!

Edit: All but 10 minutes after writing this, a thunder storm breaks out over the town... WTF!?

Those were awesome and suprisingly quite creepy at half past midnight. If you have more you should post them. Regarding the last one especially, it's easy to pass stuff off as your imagination or some other rational explanation when you're on your own, but when dogs start acting up it gets me everytime.

Me and my best friend had a day that felt like every horror movie cliche. it started one winter night when my mom told me to go next door to my grandparent's barn to get some hay to keep my dog warm (we keep him inside now since he's mellowed out) we ran down to get the snowmobile, when then got stuck IN THE SNOW... yes you read that right. so we went to take my car, but I lost the keys. so I took my dad's car, which also got stuck in the driveway. I checked my phone for the time and noticed I had no signal. and we finally just walked to the big spooky barn in the middle of a snowstorm with no cell phone signal after everything broke down, and to make matters worse the barn was very run-down and wouldn't stop creaking when we walked on the planks to get the hay. oh and crows flew out when we got close (it was an out-of-season snowstorm so I guess the birds never got to fly south) but the good news is that no one got stabbed.

Basically, as we were walking, we both suddenly heard this really strange sound. It was unlike anything I had ever heard before and it was LOUD (on par with a pneumatic drill). The only way I could describe it was to say it sounded like a UFO. Honest to god.
This reminds me of one of my own experiences. I was at the bus stop with a friend, when suddenly we heard a huge BOOM. Instead of trailing off, it just stayed at the same volume constantly. It was just a long, steady WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA. It didn't rise and fall like a jet engine or an air raid siren, it just was. We both had our hands to our ears trying to drown out the noise, and gave up after a couple minutes. We walked away, and heard the sound at the same volume for a while, until it suddenly stopped.

I called the airport to ask if they were flying Concordes, completely seriously. They said no, so I have no clue what it could have been.

One time, I was lying down in bed really really relaxed just looking over at the window, the blinds/curtains were mostly closed but open a bit. Randomly somebody walked past them and didn't look at me or anything, heading towards my front door seemingly. I seriously just jumped and "oh shit fuck etc." and ran towards the front door, got a torch and club or something to hit the fucker with. Nothing was out there when I investigated...

Another creepy thing, is that when my parents arnt home (especially when my sister isn't there either) I hear the floor creaking like when someone walks on it, sounds of cars driving up the laneway, the phone ringing, and worst of all, my Mom calling my name.... no joke
The floor could be explained by temperature changes as the floor expanded and contracted with changing temperatures. Cars driving up the laneway might just be people being douchebags and using it to turn around. Not sure about the phone ringing, but if the phone isn't actually ringing then that is very weird. Same thing applies if cars aren't actually driving up the laneway.
Fun fact: The sound editor for some versions of Rammstein's album "Sehnsucht" added in the sound of a ringing telephone, and used the stereo effects to make it sound like it's coming from another room. I've often heard a phone ring (it's very quiet) while listening to the album, and then I remember. Maybe something like that is happening?

Naturally, I find this fucking thread, AT NIGHT!

I myself can't really remember any really creepy stories.

But, at school, there was this really odd teacher. My friends and I had always thought he was a paedophile. He gave rides home to these two kids, and we teased them about being raped by him. At the end of the school year, the teacher appears on the news. Apparently he went to jail for raping one of the kids he was a "Big Brother" to. It was kinda creepy, but more funny than anything.

Also, one of my dad's friends was drunk one night, and he had accidentally ran into a pole, and hit himself on the face. He said he heard a weird laughing noise, and as he stood up, a coyote moved from behind a tree. Then another came from behind a rock, and another, and another... So needless to say, he ran like no man has ran before.

EDIT: Just remembered a few..

Me and my friends lived by this old children's hospital. It was run down, and the only place that was open was the child abuse clinic. So, we were walking around, and I figured if we could actually get into those buildings. I try all the doors, and naturally, they're locked. But one building was locked, but in a very crappy way. I tugged on the door hard enough, and the lock just kinda slid out. So we go inside and find a bunch of shit in boxes. I explore a few rooms, and find computer bits. Needing a new keyboard, I loot one. During our looting and pillaging, they see a light go off, so I go to the door to see if anyone as coming. A few minutes later, they run back towards the entrance, leaving me dumbfounded. Apparently, they managed to open a room that I had seen was locked, and completely pitch black, and they heard a voice. I kept trying to get them to go back with me, but they thought it was too eerie, so I guess I'll never know what it was..

I was sat downstairs at 3 in the morning watching TV with the lights off. All of a sudden one of my dogs gets up off the chair in the corner and leaves the room and won't come back in, the other who was sat with me just stared at that corner and started to growl. I was like what the hell, looked over and saw what seemed to be a darker shape in the darkness which looked like a human silhouette. I went to get up to turn the light on but found myself unable to move, like I was rooted to the spot. The room suddenly then felt really oppressive and heavy and the dog that was next to me started to snarl and bare its teeth. All of a sudden the dog calmed down and I could move again. All in all it lasted about 40 seconds, I hadn't been drinking, taken anything and I was watching a comedy show.
Holy shit.. That is the freakiest thing I've read...

Scratch that, this is the freakiest.

Okay, first thing, keep that cane of yours, clearly your grandmother's soul is magical, and that cane will make a great weapon to fight the dark forces of evil that confront you.

Second, where the fuck is Witches Road, because I really want to go some day.

My creepy story isn't that creepy, but it scared me for a few seconds.
In the series of books called The Wheel of Time there is the big bad God called The Dark One. His real name must never be spoken. You shouldn't even think it, since he can focus on you if you do. So I was walking home from a friend of mine, the one who introduced me to the books. We had been talking about the books, trying to make up theories for some of the mysteries not yet solved. I was going through stuff in my head, and just as I thought about the Dark Ones name the streetlight right above me went a bit brighter, making this high humming noise. I looked up as it went brighter and louder then POOF! It almost exploded. Needless to say, I walked pretty fast home, trying not to think of The Dark Ones name.
(i'm at book five or six btw, so don't click on the link if you don't want me ruining anything.)

Wow.. yea that would freak me out too. Those books honestly have some creepy sections in them, and books usually don't freak me out like that.
like the first time they travel through the ways, and that wind creature made of dead souls or something is chasing them, getting closer and closer. That whole part made me cringe a bit. Or the city where Mat finds the dagger. Although those parts would be great in a video game.

On more than one occasion, a scared little girl has called my phone number, almost crying, telling me to take her home. It's creepy as hell, it's like something out of a horror movie.
Sounds like a prank call website that took a sound clip out of a horror movie

I was playing Fallout 3 about 6 months ago and I noticed through the corner of my eye that some kid from down the street was staring through the open window watching me. It took ALOT of personal restraint for me to not grab my almost full water bottle and throw it into his face. I just went over and closed the blinds instead, and I have kept them closed ever since.

Not the same kind of creepy as all the ghost stories and stuff but here's mine. I was heading home from work at 8pm, I couldn't drive yet and was riding my bike.

A guy pulled over in front of me at one stage to ask where a man can have a good time. He then asked if I was gay, when I said no, he asked if I was curious, again I said no and left... quickly.

I do remember going into one bookstore. It was really old and had two levels. So went to the top level, while my mum was browsing the lower one.

I'm flipping through some book of anecdotes when I hear my name being called. Naturally, I assume it was my mum. So down the stairs I go, ask my mother if she'd called me. She hadn't. In fact, she was so absorbed by the books, she didn't really care all that much if I existed or not at that point in time.

So... who was it? I still don't know.
That happens to me all the time, it's one of the main reasons I wear headphones while out in public, I got sick and tired of hearing my name from no where.

For me, it was a series of phone calls I kept getting. Noone said anything, but it sounded like the phone was being held up to a computer speaker playing a song in a language I didn't recognize. The number was "Unknown" so I answered it out of pure curiosity. It happened like four or five times, but whenever I ignored the call, there wouldn't be a message. It stopped like, two days after I got the first call.
It was... weird to say the least. I'm still curious to know what language the songs were in, they were pretty catchy. /missing the point.

I have an example of someone causing a creepy event which probably caused the guy to shit himself. My friend used to work at a petrol station, at a certain time during the night they switch to "pay at pump" only, yet there are still people inside stocking shelves, doing shit out the back etc. That night the lights inside were turned off and he and his co worker were out the back having a break when they notice a guy pull up to get petrol. As he goes to pump they start talking/whispering random stuff over the tannoy system. The guy apparently looked around, at which point my friend laughed (He has an evil laugh). The guy apparently put the pump back, got in his car and got the hell out of there.

I've had a few creepy experiences myself, the main one which stands out would be a "shadowman" experience. It could just be a trick of the mind or coincidence but it scared the hell out of me.

I was sat downstairs at 3 in the morning watching TV with the lights off. All of a sudden one of my dogs gets up off the chair in the corner and leaves the room and won't come back in, the other who was sat with me just stared at that corner and started to growl. All in all it lasted about 40 seconds, I hadn't been drinking, taken anything and I was watching a comedy show.

It happened again a few months later when I was at my girlfriends at the time, similar time of the morning we both felt something was there and both saw a shadow in the darkness at the foot of the bed.

Hasn't happened now for 5 years thankfully.
I am guessing the fear shocked you causing you to be temporarily paralyzed.

I was at my friends house and it it was night time and raining. I heard a screeching noise come from far away (I think it was far away) and my friend told me to calm down that sound was normal. I was surprised at how he didn't even care about it I saw a pale face in corner of my eye smile and disappear and the tv we were watching suddenly turned off. I looked around scared and I could of swore I saw a pale face without a nose and with just too black holes for eyes. It had a his mouth wide open... I stared at it for 5 seconds, so then I ran outside and i started Chilling out, maxing, relaxing all cool And all shooting some b-ball outside of the school When a couple of guys, they were up to no good Started making trouble in my neighborhood I got in one little fight and my mom got scaredAnd said "you're moving with your auntie and uncle in Bel-Air"I begged and pleaded with her the other day But she packed my suitcase and sent me on my way She gave me a kissin' and she gave me my ticketI put my walkman on and said I might as well kick itFirst class, yo this is bad,Drinking orange juice out of a champagne glassIs this what the people of Bel-Air livin' like, Hmm this might be alright!I whistled for a cab and when it came near the Liscense plate said "Fresh" and had a dice in the mirror If anything I could say that this cab was rareBut I thought now forget it, yo home to Bel-Air I pulled up to a house about seven or eight And I yelled to the cabby "Yo, homie smell you later"Looked at my kingdom I was finally thereTo settle my throne as the prince of Bel-Air

The creepiest thing to happen to me would have to be when I randomly woke up at about 2AM one night. Go out to the kitchen to get a cup of water. I'm standing in front of the window as I drink the water, and see every single light in the entire neighborhood just go black all at once, street lights and everything. Then thirty seconds later they all just turn on, and I hear every electronic in my house start up, computers, printers, refrigerators. All the loudest things just breaking the silence all at once. Never been more freaked out in my life.

It was 10 years ago. There would be 2 sets of red lights, a few blue lights and a white light that would appear out in the forest behind our house and move around. This would happen day or night. Well one day my sister and I were on the swings near the woods when the white light appear in front of us. My sister screamed and ran back to the house. I was not afraid of the white light. I was afraid of the set of red lights that appeared in front of me though. After this the lights disappeared until, we moved to our new home and they went back to work. The lights stopped 4 years ago.

Sitting in a Wendy's near my College at South Shore Seaport in New York City with my music playing out of my head phones talking to my friends when some lady walked by and said 'Take a straw,' grabbed napkins and stuff at the thing which was near where we were sitting. Then walked back by and said, 'And stick it in your ear.'
