Uncharted 2 was the best looking game I'd ever played (and so far gets my nomination for best game of gen 7). I just finished building a gaming class computer and was told online I should try Crysis (and Warhead) so I got Maximum Edition and my first impressions are, it was worth the effort to build this computer. It is a notable cut above anything I've ever seen before. Same online forum said S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is just as good, but the box art just looks like everything is in shades of brown.

What other games, visually, are in this class?

I would say Jade Empire has a very special art style that makes it look absolutley gorgeous. I've never seen anything quite like it in the gaming world, asian mythology goes well with interactivity I suppose. While I wouldn't describe it as "realistic" in any way, it's right up there as the prettiest game I've ever played.

Some of the places you go to inspire so many emotions. The starting area makes you feel very tranquil somehow, it's hard to explain. But the biggest impact was probably...

The Water Dragon room in the Imperial Palace. Absolutley breathtaking.

And I guess it's worth mentioning the first time you ever emerge from the Vault in Fallout 3. Scenic overlook indeed. Unfortunately there's only so much brown hills you can be awestruck by before they all start to look the same. Oasis was a nice change of pace. Even if it was filled with lunatics.

RD:R has some nice scenery.

That does look special. If it looks this good on consoles as well as high end PCs, you have to wonder what the ceiling is for today's consoles.

You can't beat the simplistic, cartoony style of Banjo Kazooie and it's sequel, Banjo Tooie.

I will defend those two games until the day I die.

In short? No, nothing really comes close to Crysis yet, except maybe Crysis 2 when that comes out! lol

Far Cry 2 is very pretty, especially fire effects, and you should check that out on a gaming PC; but it's no Crysis. Resident Evil 5's graphics also impressed me immensely, as did Devil May Cry 4 (which is by the same developers and uses the same engine) and you can grab them both on PC (they are both exceptionally good ports too)

errr as for the gameplay of the games I just mentioned: FC2 is a good but very frustrating game, Resident Evil 5 made me want to throw my computer out of the window, and DMC4 is fun but repetitive.

I never really notice how "great" a game's graphics are. I feel like I'm missing out on something.

crysis 2 will be either comparable or slightly worse than the first because it needs to be playable by the PS3 and (more importantly) the 360... that and the gameplay will be shit in comparison but thats beside the point

arma 2 is darn good looking if you can max it, but takes a super beefy computer to do so, tho operation arrowhead expansion has improved performance for the game and the latest beta patches have added 4+ core support for game in general.

arma 2 is the only game i seen out that can be somewhat compared to crysis, tho maxing the thing out made my pc chug.
