When it comes to graphics, there isn't a game that's even come remotely close to handling what Crysis dished out.

The consoles can't handle the first Crysis graphics and Crytek 3 engine is a step down.

No, crysis is STILL the prettiest/most advanced game and the system requirements aren't all that high nowadays.
Crysis is 2.5 yrs old now. Maybe we're stuck in 2007 because there's only so much artists can do on a triple-A budget.
And then some million guys come and say "hey, me will work half salari" and we get one more recession, but better graphics.

None.

Crysis is what, 3-years-old? And it's still a noticeable cut above everything. Luckily Crysis 2 is set to come out this year and it does look better.

Crysis shows just how far ahead PC-exlcusives can be, but everything is going multi-plat these days (which is both good and bad); the main issue with that though is that MS and Sony want their respective consoles to have a bloody 10-year cycle.

In short? No, nothing really comes close to Crysis yet, except maybe Crysis 2 when that comes out! lol

Far Cry 2 is very pretty, especially fire effects, and you should check that out on a gaming PC; but it's no Crysis. Resident Evil 5's graphics also impressed me immensely, as did Devil May Cry 4 (which is by the same developers and uses the same engine) and you can grab them both on PC (they are both exceptionally good ports too)

errr as for the gameplay of the games I just mentioned: FC2 is a good but very frustrating game, Resident Evil 5 made me want to throw my computer out of the window, and DMC4 is fun but repetitive.
crysis 2 will be either comparable or slightly worse than the first because it needs to be playable by the PS3 and (more importantly) the 360... that and the gameplay will be shit in comparison but thats beside the point
Yeah, they could do that, or they could do the standard thing and limit the console settings whilst the PC version is given access to the highest-tier settings. Y'know, like they do with almost all multi-plat releases.

They're hardly going to release a game that looks as good as or slightly worse than the first.

Seems like a lousy time to spring for a high end gaming PC. Other than Crysis, what are you going to run? Crysis 2?

I really wish they'd just enable mouse and keyboard for consoles. I'm tired of all the best shooters coming out on platforms with piss poor control interface.

I don't care how much time passes this game is brimming with life, and has an amazing feel and actual colours, to this day I pick it up when I'm tired of the bland colour schemes of nowadays:

OT: No. Crysis has the best graphics overrall

Flower is much prettier, artistically. Mass Effect 2 was also better looking, even on my rig.

After hearing some Bungie guy go on about "We can do so many polygons now then we could ever do in previous titles! Blah blah blah" I doubt that.

I don't really enjoy the visual graphics of games :(
I bet WoW be good for you since flying mounts can give you great views and it is cool flying over landscapes that a screen shot of would make many artiest jealous. (It has been years since I played World of Warcraft so i may of exaggerated that for all I know.)

Morrowind, no seriously, that game had some really amazing moments where you just had to stop for a second and enjoy the scenery.

Shadow of the Colossus.

Yes, I'm a fanboy
Being a fanboy of Shadow of the Colossus is one of the only times fanboyism is acceptable.

That video has just reminded how bloody good the soundtrack in the game was, plus the fact that the thirteenth colossus was easily my favourite in the entire game.

Uncharted 2 was the best looking game I'd ever played (and so far gets my nomination for best game of gen 7). I just finished building a gaming class computer and was told online I should try Crysis (and Warhead) so I got Maximum Edition and my first impressions are, it was worth the effort to build this computer. It is a notable cut above anything I've ever seen before. Same online forum said S.T.A.L.K.E.R. is just as good, but the box art just looks like everything is in shades of brown.

What other games, visually, are in this class?
Crysis 2 looks quite literally poised to just shit all over the graphics of the first one.
I'll have to upgrade to run it, I'm quite sure.
And actually... I'd have to say in terms of realism and just sheer visual experience for processing power, Left 4 Dead 2 easily craps all over Crysis.
Left 4 Dead 2 running at max is just gorgeous. Max AA, not one jagged edge.
For a 9 year old engine, source is still easily crapping on most of the graphics of current tiple A titles.
