"Yeah, that's me." Ned started typing at his computer.

"Alright, here we go."

Ned pressed one last key, and then the cage tightened, holding the Mecha. Then one of the robotic arms lowered and unscrewed a plug on it's left shoulder. Another robotic arm then came down, and screwed in a new plug.

"Alright, now I'm going to put on the Cannon..."

One last arm came down, carrying a large gun. Judging from the barrel size, it must fire some pretty big rockets. It slid easily into the new shoulder plug.

"There we go! Now, to the firing range. I'll show you how it works. Choppy, go prep the targets

But Ned, you revoked my clearance to the firing range that time I got my leg shot off...

"Oh, right. I'll just do it myself. Come on, let's go."

A few minutes later, they were at the range.

"Alright Choppy, bring up target number one." Ned yelled from one side of the range.

Um.. How do I do that again?

"Press the button on the left!"

On the far end of the range, A Standard Defense Turret rose out of the ground. The orange power light blinked on. "Of course, this one has no ammunition."

Atlas readied the cannon, but was interrupted by Ned. "Actually, there's one more thing I want to show off about it." He said. He started walking towards the target. He passed the safety line, and stood right beside the turret. "Alright!" He shouted back at the booth. "Now shoot the target!"

Codemonkey, since it's your weapon I thought it's be best to leave the effects for you to describe.
Gwen hesitated before asking Atlas, "I'm sure this goes against some safety guideline."

"I doubt he'd do this he wasn't sure of... something at least."

Gwen nodded and lined up the shot. He aimed the cannon slightly wide, away from Ned. It was impossible to perfectly configure a weapon without firing it and whilst Ned seemed certain he'd come to no harm Gwen wasn't so sure. He pulled the trigger and, sure enough, the shot left the cannon to the right of the turret, away from the mechanic.

Out of the cannon, A projectal about the size and shape of a baseball fired out. When it connected with the turret, It started vibrating and throwing off sparks. The orange power light of the turret faded away. After a few seconds, the ball dies down and falls off.

"Succes! Eureka! It works! It works flawlessly! Choppy, please tell me you were recording?"

The cameras were running, if that's what you mean.

"Oh, this is the best moment of my career! I.. I need to sit down..."
Ned stumbled back to the firing booth, and sat down on a bench.

"I suppose you want me to explain that gun to you.Oh boy, all those months of research and tests, finally paid off!" He pulled a handkerchief out of his pocket and wiped his forehead.

"As sure as I was I wouldn't be hurt, It's still rather discomforting for a mecha to have you in its sights... Well, It only affects electronic machinery, for one thing. It has a powerfull electronic magnet in it's center, activated when fired. And of course, once it's found it's target, it emits an amplified Electro-Magnetic Pulse, commonly known as EMP. This shuts it down and fries most of it's circuts, effectively shutting it down."

He pointed towards the turret. Aside from being off, it looked perfectly fine.

"The great thing about it is we can recover enemy technology easily. Hit a tank with one of these babies, It's shut down. But, We take it back to shop, Do some relatively simple repairs, And now we have a tank, produced at essentialy no cost."

"Now I just have to write up a proposal for the board of defense, and if they accept, (And I see no reaon why they wouldn't) These thing could be on the MARK XII! My name will be in the history books..." He looked up, at Gwen and Atlas. "And I'll be sure your names are right up there with me! Please, Tell me, Is there anything, Anything, I could do to repay you?"

Before Gwen could open his mouth to reply Atlas made a suggestion.

"You could get us one of these. At the moment we just have the standard chain gun and cannon, I for one wouldn't mind taking them alive."

"You're a real pacifist," mumbled Gwen as he opened the cockpit.

"Just because the enemy might not be your kind doesn't mean I'm entirely happy with killing others of mine."

That comment stopped Gwen for a moment. Did AI really have qualms about killing other machines? Was it just Atlas? Or was the mecha just pulling his leg again? One way or another, that was a line of questioning for another time.

"I'm afraid that Atlas has a point. Taking one of these into battle would give us a great advantage. Maybe I could help create a second one? I have some technical experience and a field test would be a magnificent thing to bring before the board." Inwardly Gwen cringed at his own audacity; a freshly trained rookie taking an experimental weapon meant for a high ranking pilot was something that might be looked down upon by the company. Still, the weapon fascinated him and versatility was rarely a bad thing to bring to a fight.

"Oh of course! I promise, the first one off the assembly line will go straight to you. Choppy! Mark that down in my journal."

"Make sure first EMP cannon goes to Gwen and Atlas." That alright?

"Yes, it's fine. Once again, I'd like to thank you both again. This will be a great advantage, I promise. I'll get right on that report. Well, After a well deserved nap, that is...."

Ned turns to leave, but before he does he remembers something.

"Oh, right! Listen, I'm about as creative as a service droid, so I was thinking.... Maybe you two would like to name it? I mean, 'EMP cannon' just doesn't sound right."

James piloted Jackal in single file behind Ella and Gil, the mech easily avoiding the walls of the tunnel as her boosters powered up.

"You wanna take over for a bit? I'm just gonna run a system check."

Jackal swiftly took over from James, a small 'Whooop!' coming from the cockpit speakers. Pulling up a variety of holographic tables on the HUD James began to run system checks on the weapons, engine and backup systems, smiling at Jackal's enjoyment.

Rufus got off the transport, the AI wishing him a good day, despite the fact that the AI's constant yammering only made it worse. As the train was about to leave, he considered finding one of the AI's input cameras and giving it the finger, but he decided against it, as he had already wasted enough time as it was. He began to plow through the crowds, no longer caring who was in the way.

After 5 minutes of this, he realised that he did not actually know where the main security office was situated in the East district, so he headed to the nearest info-bot in its clearing. "Hello, could you give me directions to the main security office please? I'm having a rather bad day, it seems..." The last part of what he said, he was too tired to realise he had said out loud. He crossed his arms and waited for the bot to reply.

Due to really unforseen circumstances, I'm afraid I can longer run this RP. I hope you all have fun, and keep it going. I am keeping this formal to stop myself getting emotionally attached.
....
*sobs* I'm really sorry T_____T

Anywho, This is an OPEN RP remember, so if anyone wishes to take over, please feel free. You guys can keep posting all you like, 'cause I was hoping you would come up with story idea's of your own too ^^
I don't mind coming back and posting character sheets on the first bit if someone wants me too.

Again (again?) I'm truly sorry about this. -__-

Thanks, both of you ^^.

I'll still be around on the forums, and maybe in forum games, but I just can't commit to an RP right now, so I'm dropping out of pretty much all of them =[
Fun while it lasted. *salutes*

*Salutes* Good luck Sky. Lets see if we cant get the ball rolling again.
Leo placed his newly constructed 80mm cannons into place on Le'arda, proud of his newest work, when she called for him.
flustered chirping
Alright girl, settle,I get the point its urgent news. Leo jumped into the cockpit to see what the matter was. Immediately Le'arda pulled up a display showing all the mechs currently out on patrol. A breif head count revealed one to be missing. Leo squinted at his screen, "Wait! Wheres Gil!?" Leo tried making radio contact with Emmerson... Nothing. He tried contacting the other mechs...
"Le'arda prepare for a sortie, Gils gone and were going to help find her. Decode your communications, boot up the new artillery, and shed the heavy armor placed over your light. We need to move fast. I'll be damned if I let a pilgtimage stand in the way of finding our commander."
"Rodger, sir. I can contact headquarters if you'd like?" Le'arda suggested.
"Not now," Leo growled, "We need to find out what in the hells going on first."

Ned. News.

"Oh, Choppy, can't it wait? I've just made a very important breakthrough, and-"

Gil's missing.

Ned stopped. "What?"

It just came onto the main server. The signal just... dropped out.

"Oh, Gods.. Atlas, Gwen, I'm gunna have to cut this short. Um.. I'll contact you whan I get aproval for the cannon. Choppy, Details. Now."

Sure thing. I'll open a com link with the mech that uploaded the data... Wait, what?

"What is it, Choppy?"

The Mech and it's pilot just left the premises. They were heading to Gil's last known location.

"Open the link anyways. No pilot can search the whole city by themselves."

"Leo, an incoming message. He says its urgent."

"God dammit!" Leo swore, "Fine, Patch it through. Meanwhile, fire those experimental thrusters I installed, we need to move faster."

The screen blinked, a robot made contact and asked for a sit. rep.

"Fuck! I dont know!" Yelled Leo, "All I know is that Le'arda was monitoring movements, saw Gil one moment, and the next thing I know she's gone. Spread the word to the other mechs if you can."

"Sir, thruster capacity at 250%, the cooling elements are starting to melt."

"Fuck! Cut the capacity to 175%. We need to get to Gil's last location now! End that transmition, I need to focus!"
