Only when a game has great replay value, and unskippable cutscenes. Can't recall any at the moment.
I know the first Jak and Daxter had unskippable cutscenes.

Well, this is kind of specific, but today my Xbox crashed while I was playing Fable 2 and I lost some data, had to redo a lot a unskippable cutscenes to get back to where I was.

I'm surprised that no one has mentioned Final Fantasy cutscenes, so I will.

Hmmmmmmm....I'd have to say Blue Dragon, the combat was fun. And searching rocks to find experience points and other things that rocks shouldn't have was funny. But the story was crap. VO was decent.

I have to agree with BIA : HH, not only because the story was terrible anyway, but the graphics were poor too.
Can't disagree more here. Story was solid. I have two gripes. The game was easier than crap and the trees were bleh. Everything else was solid.

Xenosaga. Never played it but as I understand, 2/3rds of the game is cutscene.

Half-Life doesn't have any cutscenes though...

I'd have to say Rogue Galaxy. The game itself is bad enough but every single cutscene was teeth-grindingly abysmal.
This.
The whole soap opera between the dog...thing and the bartender woman made me cringe with every line.
Tottaly true... those cutscenes were so painful, also... why the hell did the dog need to have such a boring slow and fifty something year old speech? It just made the whole dross even more unbearable.

The intro cut scene of Oblivion left me in awe. Don't get me wrong, the rest of the scenery is nice, but it's nowhere close to that very first cut scene.
yeah i'll agree with that, i still love oblivion though :D

Claves' death scene in Eternal Sonata.

She delivers something like ten minutes of soliloquy, the most she's done so far in the game (as she's crap in fights, so you won't have been using her), after she's been stabbed. It makes the post stab conversations in Assassin's Creed look positively snappy.

(Most of the cutscenes in ES are long enough that your wireless controller will power off during them due to inactivity)

The opening campaign cutscenes in Medieval: Total War 2. They are all the same, only the dialogue changes.

Probably the last bit of Far Cry 2. You gotta pick whether to die by massive amounts of dynamite or die by a suicide with 1 pistol shot.

the original resident evil had some pretty bad ones, barry running thru a smoking husk of a snake and asking you if something is wrong still makes me laugh

I just bought Okami today, and I'm already obsessed with it. However, the 20 minute prologue left me thinking the entire time they're talking about the battle with Orochi, 'Why am I not playing through this!?'

Everything in "Star Wars: The Force Unleashed." Some of them are okay, but you can't skip them for about half of each scene, so after you've beaten the game and just want to Force Rampage with a maxed out character, you have to watch at least half of every scene before it skips.

And to think I was gonna mention that whole laughing scene in FFX. Lucky for me, I was alone at that time. I don't know what I would have done had someone walked into the room and saw me watching that.

The good news with that game, which made it bearable, was that you could skip the cutscenes. It's when you can't skip the scenes that the game is so much worse.

I recently learned that you can skip the scenes in "Zelda: Twilight Princess". That cannon-fire scene was very annoying after the n-th time, despite how short it was. The - button is my friend.

I believe that the cutscenes in "Metal Gear Solid" and sequels were pretty bad, on both game systems. I think the GC ones were slightly more tolerable. Cutscenes should not put you to sleep is what I'm getting at.
