Its as if all parents in America subconsciously decided at the same time that Pokemon was some sort of Jamaican word, and they tried to set an example to their children and speak American and pronounce "mon" as "man".

Theoretically, it is impossible for parents to pronounce "pokemon" correctly. Studies were conducted, and even the "torture" test, where parents were subjected to painful physical treatment each time they said "pokeman". Not one parent said "pokemon".

Nah IW gave up on it being a CoD as its reputation was being ruined by Treyarch, so they've split from it. Thank god.

My parents haven't had any problems with calling the consoles and games their right names, but my friends father however kept calling the Gameboy a Playboy. Hilarity ensued when I was over at his house, and his father yelled "Are you looking at your Playboys again?".

I also don't like it when people abbreviate Gears of War 1/2 as GoW.

GoW=God of War (came first, too)

With this in mind, I ask, what other odd "naming errors" or descriptions have you heard from people who aren't familiar with the particular product?

Examples: "Xboxcube" or "that game with the Zelda sword guy"

(I've heard a parent describe "Pokeman" as, "A game where stuffed animals kill each other")

I've gotten that before. In my case, regardless of the console I own or an playing on, it will be called a 'Nintendo' by my parents. Have to love then for it.

On topic, my parents decided that I didn't have a PlayStation, I had a GameStation. I didn't have an Xbox, I had a GameBox. I didn't have a GameBoy, I had a Stupid-Twiddly-Thumb-Mini-GameStation.

On topic: It aggrovated me when (I was 8, I think) I got a Raichu mascotte (you know, Pikachu's evolution) and every single adult thought it was a Pikachu.

Or how my father didn't want me to buy a DS from my own allowance, but sees nothing wrong when my friend's father buys him an electric guitar 1/3 more expensive. Even if he has already one.

Boo-hoo, everyone does that. GoW 2 = Gears of War 2.

And everyone is wrong, the God of War series has always been known as GoW. Its simple and easy, because calling the series "God" or "of" or "War" would just be horrendously stupid. But "Gears" is quite a good nickname that can't be misread as another game series. At least none that I can't think of.

that is terrible, but the worst i've seen is someone called my phone a "gameprotable"
