Anyone else have their parents refer to any game system as "Nintendo", even when it's an XBox?
My parents did that with my PS2.
My parents also called "Pokemon" "Pokemans"

I also don't like it when people abbreviate Gears of War 1/2 as GoW.

GoW=God of War (came first, too)

Gears=Gears of War
This too, God of War got there first so it gets first dibs.

Most gadgets are referred to by my mum as the "Whatsit Thing" or similar.

When I was scheduled to do a week's work experience with Lionhead she also referred to the company as Hawkwind (the old space rock band). That got irritating.
you... got... work experience at LIONHEAD?!?!?! Damn living outside of America!

My parents call all my CoD and MoH games "war games" when they see me playing them.
I'm not playing with nukes for gods sake...although I kinda was in CoD4.
But...they are technically.

My dad picked up the game's box and while looking at the front of it asked me "What war game are you playing now?"

And everyone is wrong
A classic case of denial.

Everyone can't be wrong. If everyone is wrong, then it means only 99.9999999999999999% of world population is correct.
Well, everyone one here so far has said GoW is God of War. Except you... So.
Also, if everyone was wrong 100% of the worlds population would be incorrect.
I bolded the part where you messed up though.

A war game doesn't mean that you need to be controlling armies and launching nukes; it is a game about a war. It isn't wrong to call CoD and MoH war games.

The worst attempt I've heard to say "Pokemon" goes to my mum, who said "The Pokermans". She likes adding the word "the" to things where they don't belong, and pluralizing or unpluralizing, things she shouldn't: The Watchman, The Splinter Cells, The BioShocks (seriously) are some of the more painful ones she's said.

Well I did until about a month before when the bastards cancelled on me.
Ended up painting motorbikes :)

Oh and Lionhead are UK... They're based in Guildford.

Soul Caliber, Soul Calibre, Soul Calibar, and any other similar misspellings. Dear God in Heaven, it's CalibUr, as in ExcalibUr.
Oh, as someone said, referring to the Elder Scrolls saga as "Oblivion", because it makes perfect sense /sarcasm
Same thing with GTA. People on the Internet seem to think GTA3 was the first Grand Theft Auto ever, and that they just named it 3 because they were following the Rule of Cool. Which makes perfect sense.

I know, I realised what I'd typed just after I hit "post", then when I tried to edit it Escapist threw a wobbly and stopped me from getting anywhere.

I always hated when playing final fantasy 10 when I was looking for a save spot and my parents were pressuring me to get off the game, I would tell them I need to get to a save spot, they would say "this is a perfectly good save spot now shut off the game"
Same problem, same game. FF sucks for its lack of save spots. And I gave up on that game anyway when I got to Seymour Flux. At least I think its that one... the one where you are on that snowy mountain?

(I've heard a parent describe "Pokeman" as, "A game where stuffed animals kill each other")
Isn't that pretty much it?

It's not gaming related, but Grandad says "Two Sunami". Doesn't realise it's a silent T.
