They're doing maintenance on them throughout tomorrow, so I imagine they'll be better after that.Longing said:The most sadistic things about DSII are its fucking servers.

Well, I feel dumb about the message thing.username sucks said:The orange soapstone has been removed. You create messages straight from the start menu after you leave Things Betwixt.Kopikatsu said:Edit: Really dumb question. Where do you get the Orange Soapstone? I still don't have it...
Now for a question of my own, if I may: where the heck do I find the total weight of all my equipment? I know where my max equip load is, but I have no idea how much my stuff actually weighs.
I actually got a Dark Pyromancy Flame from...somewhere. I just looked in my inventory once and it was there. No idea when I picked it up. I guess it was somewhere in The Gutters...?michael87cn said:Honestly, I am really disappointed with my experience with DKS2... to start off.. I pre-ordered the game but when I picked it up they were out of the pre-order bonuses for pre-ordering it, (black armor edition, vouchers for unlockable weapons and armor). So I just got a base copy. (why did I pre-order, again?). Though, this isn't the games fault, it left a bad taste in my mouth.
So, I get started and notice right away that things are different. If you explore around the beginning area, you won't find much to help you. In DKS1 you could find a variety of weapons that would change your playstyle right from the start. Like a two handed sword, a rapier, a spear, etc. Now as far as I can tell, you find a dagger and a mace early on. The combat mechanics are very different now, and after testing several weapons, it seems like the dagger is the ultimate weapon, somehow. It staggers enemies instantly, and swings very quickly.... right now you get hit in return for swinging with most other weapons, as they swing too slowly. Melee combat just feels really pathetic this time around. I've also played for around 12 hours now, and haven't found a single exciting melee weapon...
I got bored and tried out an archer. I played for around 3 hours and bought 999 arrows, leveled up a bow, and went in to fight the first boss. My bow was hitting for like... 30ish damage. That's considerably nerfed from DKS1, but they said that archery would be more relevant in the second game.... but it doesn't seem to be. Oh, that's another thing to gripe about.... the blacksmith? He only sells like 9 titanite, so if you want to upgrade your stuff... good luck, you can only upgrade like 2 things. I don't know why they imposed this limit. It makes no sense.
I tried a sorcerer and it seemed a lot better, until I got several hours in and now I hit for like 20% of an NPCs health bar. It's nerfed just like bows.
It just seems like, all of the things they were supposed to improve upon, they instead nerfed to cater to the people who want this game to be super hardcore.
It also feels like its designed around summoning help.... for everything....
It feels like Demons Souls 2, not Dark Souls 2. And I didn't really like Demons Souls.
edit:
Oh yeah, and there seems like a lot of content is missing. For example, even though I've played about 12 hours in, I haven't found a single pyromancy item (in fact, disappointingly you cannot even start as a pyromancer anymore!) and only 1 miracle: heal.....
It's possible to drain the poison from the room. There's a windmill near (I think the first) bonfire of the area. If you hit it with your torch to set it ablaze, the poison will drain out of the room. For some reason.Diablo2000 said:Dark Souls 2: Hey wanna fight a boss who's resistent to your magic in a room where you can't move straight and is full of poison?
Me: No, I don't.
Dark Souls 2: Well fuck you then, that's what you gonna do.
Goddamit Dark Souls 2. Why you do this to me?
I know that, I want to know how much ALL of my stuff weighs so I can see how much of the equipment load I'm using.Kopikatsu said:Well, I feel dumb about the message thing.username sucks said:The orange soapstone has been removed. When looking at equipment, weight is the gray diamond in the lower right hand of the attributes display.
To the right of where the equipment weight is, there should be a separate box with that information on the equipment section of the menu. 'Current Weight/Max Weight' then below those numbers is the percentage that your current weight is taking up of your maximum weight.username sucks said:I know that, I want to know how much ALL of my stuff weighs so I can see how much of the equipment load I'm using.Kopikatsu said:Well, I feel dumb about the message thing.username sucks said:The orange soapstone has been removed. I've got four charges I think? And I'm beating my head against the wall as the Pursuer Knight butt fucks me. I'm stuck were you have to fight him, not on the plateau. I'm just having a really hard time with the timing on rolls. It seems like I can roll back the easiest but I get stuck in the corners and I can't seem to dodge to the side.Kopikatsu said:Sooooorry for the double post, but I got a question for the lot of yous.
Where are you, and what is your Estus Flask situation? Someone mentioned recently that they were at the Lost Bastille and only had two charges in their Estus Flask. Which was silly to me. SILLY.
Anyway, I currently have Estus Flask +2 (5). Just killed the Belfry Gargoyles in Lost Bastille.
Slycne's advice makes the Pursuer probably the easiest boss in the game. Hit the Pursuer with the Ballista and it'll shave off all but a tiny sliver of his health. You have to mash the use button once you've primed the Ballista to get the hit though, otherwise he'll just smash through it and end you.Rylot said:I've got four charges I think? That is extremely useful, thank you. It even displays the actual percentage now! I no longer need to do complex math such as 60/4. I guess it's a neat feature that it's always there, I just wish it was displayed in a more noticeable spot.Kopikatsu said:To the right of where the equipment weight is, there should be a separate box with that information on the equipment section of the menu. I'm at 99.9% load right now. Heavy armor + Dragonslayer's Greatshield + Pursuer's Ultra Greatsword.
Yeah, I'd heard of that strategy but I can't seem to get enough separation. By the time I had the ballista primed he's already crashing through it and wailing on me. Then I try and dodge out of the way and breaks the other one. I've tried about five times with no such luck. I just can't seem to keep him off me long enough to heal.Kopikatsu said:Slycne's advice makes the Pursuer probably the easiest boss in the game. I'm working on the Belfry Gargoyles and I have the exact same.Kopikatsu said:Anyway, I currently have Estus Flask +2 (5). Just killed the Belfry Gargoyles in Lost Bastille.
What is your equipment load looking like? I had to downgrade to Leather to be able to move fast enough to get to the Ballista before Pursuer could (He's good at pursuing people. Who would have thought?)Rylot said:Yeah, I'd heard of that strategy but I can't seem to get enough separation. As a mage I'm using the Hollow Black Mage Robe and Imported Hollow Pants (or what ever they're called). I'm right at 25% percent.Kopikatsu said:snip
I am derping around in Forrest of Fallen Giants and Heide's Tower of Flame with an Estus Flask +1 (4). All y'all seem to be way farther along than I am. XDKopikatsu said:Sooooorry for the double post, but I got a question for the lot of yous.
