I will just say that, while there is hacking on ps3 and 360 for this game. It would literally kill the PC community. It is factually easier to hack a pc version then a console version, and if they released mod kits, it would even further kill it by people making ultimate weapons and otking everything.

If they did release it on pc, imo it would need to highly protective. To the extent where I say it should actually lock out the folders from users.

What's the point of having a cake you can't eat? What am I supposed to do with the cake? Wear it as a stylish hat?
Depends, how fancy is it? And does it have a feather? I shall only settle for the best cake-hats! There's also the issue of inclement weather and whatnot, or a strong wind if it's a particularly large one. o_O

Personally I think I'd prefer playing it on a console because it feels that a controller would suit me better than a keyboard and mouse for this kind of game. But that isn't going to be the opinion of everyone and I'd like to see it come to PC so a greater number of people have the chance to enjoy the game.

No. Just no.

You do not know the amount of no that's going through my mind.

Just. No.
Please state a reason as to why? all the information i gain from your post is (purely educated guess on your thoughts right now) 'I DON'T WANT THE PC ELITISTS TO THROW SOMETHING ELSE AT MY FACE!'.
And you'd be right. I'm both a console and PC gamer, but I absolutely can't stand PC elitists, and I can't imagine wanting to play this with any of them.
Then don't, it's not like you have to play this on PC, let the "elitist" drown themselves in their "elitism" while playing the game. Everybody wins.

No thanks, I'd much rather go with the idea of pretending it's not none of my business.

TotalBiscuit is awesome. Same spirit as RPS, but in video form.

I am also quite pleased by the state of the petition. The sooner this thing comes to the PC (and the sooner I can trade back my PS3 copy of it) the better.

On the subject of the experience being wrong for PC: Keep in mind that PC gamers play Binding of Isaac, Nethack (which I adore), Dungeon Defenders, etc. Dark Souls is pretty much the epitome of a PC-fit experience, and might well go a good ways towards convincing the reticent publishers that there's something to be said for the PC as a market.

Therefore, I really hope this has a positive effect!
Dungeon Defenders is also on Ps3, xbox, and hell even ipod. :p (Actually came out on ipod a while before any other version.)

It's even coming out on Vita.
Durr. Meant to type Desktop Dungeons.

Any decent argument he made was nullified by his "Only PC gamers can truly appreciate a game like this" argument. What a twat.

You know, there are a lot of games that are PC-exclusive that I want to play. Like S.T.A.L.K.E.R. for instance. But it'll never get a console port (Even though GDC said they were going to way back in '07) so if I want to play it I need to save up $500-800 and build a computer that can run it.

You want to play Dark Souls? The swallow your "pride" and go buy a $200 console like the rest of us.
You want your console to have a hard drive? Hope you didn't buy a 360, that's another $120 for a decent sized drive. If you bought a PS3 and want a decent hard drive without having to install one, hope you don't mind shelling out $300.

Oh and if you want HD, better be prepared to shell out at least $400 if you want a mid size 720p TV.

So already you've exceeded how much it costed me to build my PC and get a monitor and the OS legally.

Golly gee gosh, it's almost like the argument that PC gaming is far more expensive is...ignorant and misinformed or something! Gasp!
Most people own a television for some reason besides gaming, so purchasing one might not be necessary. Purchasing a HDTV certainly isn't necessary if you genuinely don't care about graphics, which is one of the reasons somebody might choose a console over a PC.

So if we assume that you already own a TV, then a new PS3 with a 160 GB hard drive will cost you $250 total.

If you want a 360 with a 120 GB hardrive, plus a headset, that'll only run you $200

I'm not going to argue whether PCs or consoles are superior, but in my experience consoles tend to be cheaper, even when I priced individual parts. Maybe I'm using the wrong search engines, though.

I have never liked anything from TB, ever.

I will sign this petition because the only reason I never touched Dark Souls is because it was console exclusive, I avoid buying games for consoles whenever possible. Bringing it to PC will help entice me to try it.

Also have to point out the irony of a console gamer calling PC gamers elitists then saying something like "Get off your high horse and get a console" almost as if they're trying to make themselves out to look superior for making the "right" choice.

When you consider that:
1) PC's aren't just dedicated game boxes and can perform a multitude of tasks
2) Games have lower cost
3) Games have more content depending on title (Skyrim being the best example, especially when the content creator is released)
4) Everyone needs a PC anyway.
5) Capable of using numerous kinds accessories and software.

The cost isn't much more than you may believe.

My PS3 cost me ~400 dollars without games when I bought it, 200 dollars more and I could've built a whole new computer with 10 times the processing power back in 2008.

Sure, the consoles are cheap now, but horribly under powered compared to what they were like years ago. Considering that a new generation is supposedly coming soon, it's not really fair to compare prices at this point since they're 7+ years old and about to be replaced.

It's a difficult situation that not many people seem to see or understand. Accusing someone of being elitist, to me anyway, is a kind of self elevation. A way of "looking down on someone" for having that kind of mentality, which brings that person back down to their level for acting superior and nothing has been gained, you just look like as big a jerk as the person you accuse.

It perplexes me really.

I for one don't think I'm superior or anyone is inferior for making their choice, I would rather have people be informed before they start going off on people about this kind of thing. I made my choice as a PC gamer simply because it's cost effective and efficient. I needed a computer, why invest so heavily on a console when I'm going to need a PC anyway? Now my PC does it all.

We're having the debate in the present day, and those are the market prices of the consoles in the present day, so those were the prices I compared by. If you wanted to buy a console or a PC right now, the console would probably be cheaper.

You do raise a good point above the comparative price of games, even if it is slightly offset by the used market. Even considering that, I doubt that I would be able to fill my Xbox library with as many free or ludicrously cheap games. The crux of the argument would probably be "power and versatility vs. convenience". You're not going to get the same results out of a console that you would out of a PC, but you're going to have to work as hard to get them. A console owner can be reasonably certain that, when he puts the game into the drive, it'll work just fine, or at least as good as everybody else's. Whereas PC owners have to put up with things like Rage's driver issues, or any of the issues that arise when the developers of a game wage a mysterious vendetta against your choice of graphics card.

It's not that difficult of a situation, there are people who always feel the need to be on top. Whether they do it by getting in fights or feeling the need to argue about how much fun someone is having, which is the main problem. Just because someone is perfectly fine with 720/30FPS instead of 1080/60FPS doesn't make them less, but guess what most of the PC argument is; something about framerate/resolution and how big their penis is because they can constantly upgrade it. They're the aggressors and the jerks who can't shut up about how great it is when the people they're attacking might not care, but it's still an attack and so the first aggressor shouldn't be surprised when their exact rhetoric is turned against them. People don't need to be informed, they need to calm the fuck down about how great it is to be them.
All I'm saying is that neither side is innocent in this case, both sides are being jerks. Obviously I'm not one of those elitists, so suffice to say that not all PC gamers are. People tend to generalize and get hysterical over a relatively small group of people and assume the worse in everyone.

Using the human race as an example it's like saying black people commit more crimes than white people when everyone of every race most likely does the same just as much and as frequently. It's unfair to judge and entire group based on the actions of a minority.

Honestly, we all need to shut up about it and play our damn games.

I doubt it would do well on PC, and i guess the developers share my opinion. But if by some miracle it did come out on my system i would gladly buy it. As for the petition.. Wrong country and i wont be bothered to make a facebook account, sorry.

This is true if you simply view your PC as a game box, which it isn't nor should. The versatility is well worth the extra cost versus a console.

You're not going to get the same results out of a console that you would out of a PC, but you're going to have to work as hard to get them. A console owner can be reasonably certain that, when he puts the game into the drive, it'll work just fine, or at least as good as everybody else's.
True again, but some people, like myself, don't see convenience as a selling point when you have relatively less freedom. I hate how I can't change any settings, I hate how frame rates are locked and I hate how I'm forced to use their proprietary controller. Things like resolution and frame rate are a sales killer for me, since low res and fps give me a migraine.

Whereas PC owners have to put up with things like Rage's driver issues, or any of the issues that arise when the developers of a game wage a mysterious vendetta against your choice of graphics card.
Incidents like Rage are extremely rare, it was entirely Id softwares own incompetence for releasing a game built on their own custom in house drivers that nobody outside their office would have access to. But I will admit that ATI users tend to have it tough when it comes to drivers, since a lot of games are built with Nvidia in mind. Fortunately it's rarely a big issue and can generally be fixed with simple work arounds, assuming ATI didn't release a new set of drivers or patch the same day. This all varies on developer.

Although console gamers have the benefit of the used market, I don't see it as such. Most of the time, used titles aren't much different in cost than the new copy. Unless you plan on trading multiple games in at a time to drop the cost of a title near zero dollars. In my opinion though, trading in more than one game for a single game seems a tad ludicrous.

Note: I'm simply trying to add to discussion as well as being informative.

Due to the fact that I don't own any form of a console and don't even have a TV to use one with, I would die happy if Dark Souls came to PC. No matter how terrible the controls.
