The game was made for controllers/console originally so sadly Keyboard and mouse don't suit it well.
This is ENTIRELY incorrect. Or to be more specific, it is not a valid justification.
Nothing about Dark Souls' controls is impossible or even difficult to translate to keyboard. It's a fairly standard 3rd person game and its basic control setup isn't unlike many games that have been translated to a mouse&keyboard setup quite well. The most recent example would be Darksiders 2 which I played on M&K with no problems. Prince of Persia games are also a good example.
The ONLY reason M&K controls suck is because the developer did a shit job in that regard.
The biggest problem with the controls is the mouse sensitivity which seems to be inconsistent, jumping from too slow to too fast in a second. It manages to be sluggish, imprecise and hypersensitive at the same time. There is no reason for this aside from bad work by the developer.
The next problem is the control prompts - they are still represented by the A/B/X/Y/RT/etc. icons on screen. If a menu tells me to press Y to get more info about an item, that doesn't help me much. Not only that, but the same prompt can require different input depending on the context - for instance, the A icon corresponds to the Q button, except if you're in a menu, when it suddenly turns to Enter for no apparent reason. Again, there is no reason for this aside from bad work by the developer.
The third problem, which might not be as widespread is the controller itself. I do have one and upon seeing the mess that the game is, I tried plugging it in. But the thing is, it's not a 360 controller so the keys weren't mapped correctly. I wanted to remap it properly, but the game has no options to do so. At all. Once again, there is no reason for this aside from bad work by the developer.
