Basically, a dating site named beautifulpeople.com (you should be able to see where this is going) expelled 5,000 members over the holiday season for packing on the pounds. The site prides itself on being exclusively for beautiful people, and says "Letting fatties roam the site is a direct threat to our business model".

What are your thoughts? I see where their coming from on upkeeping standards, but relationships should be built on more than just physical appearance. As a relationship site, that's really a bad move.

I wish that dating would be less superficial. However, their site, their rules, unless they make people pay for membership and then didn't refund when they expelled them.

"Dating sites" have genres just like everything else. Not really surprising they want to limit their content.

Bunch of snobby assholes. If they're apparently so beautiful then why do they have to resort to such a desperate dating method.

They may be beautiful people, but they have ugly souls.

Well, it's their site. It'd be nice if dating weren't as horridly superficial, but they can do as they please. I'm sure there was something in the ToS about it or something.

Its a site for people who only want to talk to and date people who meet a stereotypical standard of beauty. It doesn't matter what a relationship should be built on, the people visiting that site know what its about. If they were after substance regardless of physical appearance then they would find a site for that purpose.

Lol. Its a cult. They can do whatever they want. Good for them actually. I'm glad people are still allowed to make enemies and alienate people. Its what freedom of speech is based on, and i support it 100%.

I can't stand this, OH, be nice to fat people. They can't help it. Bull shit. Anyways, nevermind.

I hate the idea of that site.

It should be called FeedMyEgo.com

Moving on to a relevant subject, how about some pie?

Is not the best business motto, especially for a dating site, which usually relies on such people. Still, I suppose they want to live up to their name, so let them do what they want. (and yes, beauty is in the eye of the beholder, but more often than not people like Ryan Reynolds are seen as more attractive than people like John Candy or Chris Farley)

E-Harmony does that shit all the time. If it deems you "undesirable" then you can't use it.

That's what you get for not reading the disclaimer and the site's official policies.

It's cruel, yes, and I'm leaning more towards a girl's personality rather than her looks, though they still are a factor. People have different preferences when it comes to a potential significant other, so why not have a broader appeal by letting anyone join? Broader appeal = more traffic, no?
