hears to hoping me not going to see it adds to the failure then, fucking Zack Schneider and his shit ass Frank Miller obsession.
You know it's funny: when DC does Frank Miller's work it fails miserably, but when Marvel does it it's an amazing success.
possibly because they don't worship the ground he walks on. could also be the lack of employing Zack Schneider.
I don't know, even Miller's own work for the two publications seems to have the massive divide in quality where his Marvel work is some of the best things the company's ever printed, while his DC work is honestly quite crap.

Analysts... almost always worthless and almost always less accurate than a coin flip. Forgettable assholes to a man/woman. Remember Michael Pachter?

Yeah, me neither.

I honestly can't wait for Dawn Of Justice to crash and burn. With any luck, the idiots running DC will finally figure out what's been painfully obvious for years: the reason their movies suck (with the arguable exception of the Christopher Nolan Batman trilogy) is because they're just not fun. Look at Marvel's mega-successes compared to Man Of Steel or...whatever other garbage DC/Warner Brothers has cranked out lately. Everything DC does is trying to be dark, edgy and "dramatic" (despite not having done The Killing Joke yet somehow, where that tone might work), and it just comes off as trying too hard and not being at all faithful to the comics.

Good God.

I'm probably going to see it, sooner or later, assuming the reviews aren't absolutely scathing (and I'll probably see it even then just for the spectacle, though I'll wait for a second run theater to pick it up.)

But... $1 billion...? Those aren't just "fill three theaters on the first night" numbers, those are "we'll go and see it again" numbers. I haven't seen anything in the trailers thus far that sells me on the level of "You haven't seen it yet? Look, I'll take you and go watch it a second time myself, it's that good." Once the spectacle has been seen, whatever plot details that remain unspoiled have been taken in, the performances witnessed in all their grand, pale, or hammy grandeur... What's left of this movie? Anticipation for all the tie-ins? DC and WB sure hope so, but I think a lot of people are going to leave the theater, blink into the light, clear their heads of all the bass-heavy explosions they've been exposed to, and make their plans to go see Civil War.

I went looking for the source to see if it was him, actually.

I hope they succeed just so they don't cancel Wonder Woman

they can fail all they want after that, just give me a cool wonder woman movie
I think they're too invested at this point to just cleanly pull out.

I wonder how many babies... movies, I mean movies, have been made because of that excuse.

I don't know. Not many companies go this deep, only to have a mishap this early.

For what it's worth, I saw the movie this morning and it's quite good. So best of luck to them.
When you say "good", are we talking "typical Marvel movie" good, "Batman Begins" good or "this is a follow up to a middle of the road movie that people can't even agree on if it was passable or bad and this looks good by comparison" good? Because the difference could mean my seeing it or not.

Take this with a pinch of salt: it's much better than MoS, but not as good as the Nolan movies (and for all its flaws I liked TDKR).

An anonymous source making an outrageous claim.

Why are we taking this seriously?
Because it allows us to show off how we all wear pants that only a smart person would be allowed to wear? I dunno. I can't imagine caring how well Batman 5 Super Man of Steel does at this point.

Figured I should be that guy at this point, but early rotten tomatoes reviews seem to be generally unfavorable. Still pretty early and not a great sampling, but thought it is worth knowing.

Analysts are idiots.

What could they possibly need $800 million for? The marketing and production costs are half that, and those are the primary expenses.
Movie companies usually set profit targets as well.

It doesnt really do much to expand your buisness if youre only breaking even with each project.

Can't say I care too much, if Dawn of Justice doesn't make enough money to justify its cost, then that's the movie companies problem

Someone pointed it out, but I tend to agree. These are "I went to see it multiple times" numbers. To put this in perspective, Avengers made 1.5 billion and I saw it twice in theaters. The Force Awakens made 2 billion and I saw it three times in theaters.

I can't help but feel that I'm not isolated in this regard. And I can't help but feel BvS needs a similar showing from others.

Honestly, this movie had two terrible trailers, has no build up with other movies, and has way too many characters. Perhaps even worse is that it is a sequel to Man of Steel which has a 56% on Rotten Tomatoes, and that many people are split on whether it was good or utter shit. Hitting a billion dollars may be a feat.

That's... not exactly encouraging. I mean I don't hate TDKR, but it was certainly the weakest of the trilogy. And if you're saying BvS is not as good as that, it doesn't make me feel like it can do extremely well.

Wow. Those were scathing. Even some of the positive reviews looked like they weren't exactly thrilled with it.
