The developer has already said he won't be doing that -- it would be too much work.Fat_Hippo said:I hope they turn this into a full-fledged, stand alone game, as many other mods have been in the past, but until then, I'll probably miss out.
Was this around the Northern Barracks? I was chillin in there when I see a Bandit in the door who opens fire on me and then disappears because YOU HAVE ALERTED THE HORDE! I don't know whether he died or disconnected but he was gone when I looked for him. Also my survivor bro was in the barracks with me so it wasn't him. (All this assumes you're a bandit and it was me you shot at.)Heinrich843 said:Yeah, I would usually recommend something akin to this for normal infantry play.number2301 said:You can look around like that by holding alt as well. Surprisingly easy and natural.
Also, an additional note to new players:
If an option such as freelook gets stuck on, it's because you have accidentally double tapped the key. Double tapping the key again will cause this to unstick. Applies to most of the functions of the game.
In other news, my character died yesterday, while crawling around the northern airfield. Unsurprisingly, there seems to be hand grenade spawns and every sort of weapon, device or consumable there. The bandit's survivor friend shot me after I emptied a stanag into his bandit. I'm fairly sure the zombie horde munching on that survivor's shoulder took him out too.
Tis' truly a glorious game.
The animation if fairly well done, but close-up, people do look rather Uncanny Valley-esque. Thankfully, you'll mostly see them as a tiny dot in your sight. The UI is nice and clean, only popping up when you use it. It takes a bit getting used to, however. Similar with the controls, they work well, but are rather complicated. It's all about getting that muscle-memory. The engine works rather well, too, with a very pleasing feeling of space; you've got miles and miles to play around with, and the graphics are fairly nice. Plus, for a game with that much stuff going on and complex calculations and whatnot, it's fairly stable. And like STALKER, it's one of the few games where nights truly are dark.BloatedGuppy said:This sounds pretty remarkable. How does the engine fare as compared to, say, STALKER: Pripyat? How's the animation? How's the UI? How's the learning curve? Is it intuitive? A chore to play?
I am admittedly intrigued.
Thinking of doing this myself. I've been watching various videos on youtube and have gotten the itch to try this mod for myself.eldermore said:Probably the greatest mod ever made, bought Combined Op's for this. So much potential and will definitely be ported to the upcoming Arma 3
Nahh, my encounter was outside a hangar.Palfreyfish said:Was this around the Northern Barracks? Ah well, I'm only a bandito because of russians who shoot on sight so I had to kill a few of them to save my bro.Heinrich843 said:Nahh, my encounter was outside a hangar.Palfreyfish said:Was this around the Northern Barracks? I died again today, joined an unpopulated server and some bandits literally spawned on top of us. I guess that's what happens when you join a non-full server.
OMG *Ejaculates*Sneaklemming said:Man I played again today for a few hours. I hooked up with some reddit guys on teamspeak and we went to a store to look for loot. We spent 5 minutes trying to get the store without alerting some Zombies. We made it in but somehow alerted a single zombie. After we shot him the rest of the horde tried to get in the door and we shot them all up.
So we started to stock up on food, water etc. Suddenly one of our 4 team members yells "Ive been shot - Im dead Im dead!"
That was followed by a second shot. We all scrambled. After 5 minutes of no fire we started to do a check ok one alive up injured in the back, one dead, myself fine and our sniper fine.
I went behind the counter and then realised there was one too many of us. Two snipers on the ground, and no name tags.
I started to yell on teamspeak - "WHAT COLOUR SHIRT DO YOU HAVE WHAT COLOUR SHIRT!"
After a tense 30 seconds (due to the guy I was with not keying up on teamspeak because of panic) I finally hear.
"It's the guy between us!"
I took the shot.
We found out later that the guy must have had only two bullets left in his rifle, and had come in the back door of the store and just shot in desperation, without realising how many of us there was.
