Anyone else think that Political elections are becoming more and more like advertisements for products? Last political commercial i saw reminded me of something you might see during the superbowl...

^Sadly, I could not vote against America's "No Child Left Behind Act" or Block Scheduling

It's interesting because I don't really side with either side of the political spectrum. I think that each party's ideas are good, partially, but then they usually take it to one extreme or the other. If democrats are on the left, and republicans are on the right, the balance is in the middle.

I wish there would be an independent party called the Logical Party or somehting that would make decisions bases on what made more sense and whats the better idea.

But for now I usually side with democrats since they seem to make more sense more often and are right more often.

I just ignore the more ridiculous political smears. Chances are they're not even aiming their message at you anyway, but rather undecided (read: easily swayed) voters, who sadly NEED a candidate's message to be condensed into a 30 second blurb, complete with a jingle and slogan.

Oddly enough, I'm willing to go free market capitalism or a socialistic minded welfare state. However, I have yet to see either party cohesively approach those realities with a sense of continuity. Due to this, I think they are both useless parties.

No, I am not insane enough to vote for the democrats this year. However, unlike most people, I don't mind telling my students (and anyone who asks) why.

This has to be one of the worst presidential elections ever. It is showing me that people would have an idiot in office than anyone who mildly qualifies.

I believe that socialism and communism would be the greatest forms of government if human nature was not a factor in the equation.

Insane? That's a little overdramatic. It's kind of hard to take you seriously when you use such a loaded tone.

Okay, I'll bite. Lay it on me.

EDIT: Wow, there's an echo here.

First of all, let me apologize, I used the word "Sanity" because it was in the title.

1 I don't believe in bringing troops back from Iraq before that government can survive on its own...to do so would admit defeat and leave us looking for Hillary, Barack, and Nancy Pelosi's diplomatic solutions from a position of weakness instead of a position of power. War should be the last option...but it always must be an option.

2) I don't believe that the institutionalization of health care will positively impact the heath care field. Many of our best physicians will go into private practice immediately upon this concept being a reality, thus taking many great physicians away from families who need them in the first place.

3) While taking taxes off of American families and placing them on the shoulders of big business seems like a good idea, what usually happens is:

A) Taxes are placed into the unit cost of an item
B) The business usually cuts employment numbers
C) The business usually cuts the funding of other philanthropic projects- such as donations to communities for parks, etc.

Also, has anyone noticed the type of employee now starting to handle minimum wage jobs...is it just me or is the demographic of the minimum wage job now getting older? The reason that I say this is because many university students need minimum wage, entry level jobs as a stepping stone to better careers....what happens when businesses shift those jobs onto older people (who are less upwardly mobile and are dependent upon the job more for their livelihood)...

I know if you aren't from the United States you probably will hate me for posting this, but the fact that 200,000 Germans ended up attending Obama's "world visits" kinda makes me pause just a little bit.

Nobody would fault me for saying that "Germany has to do right by Germany", or "Great Britain has to do right by Great Britain", so would anybody fault me for saying that any presidential candidate should hold America's best interests FIRST and not the world's????
