No, I am not insane enough to vote for the democrats this year. However, unlike most people, I don't mind telling my students (and anyone who asks) why.
Your opinions don't belong in a classroom, friend.

Hmm...

IMHO the U.S. of A.'s ideas of political parties are a joke. Someone go and start another one. Up here in Canada we have........oh, wait. Nevermind.

As long as the students know that they are my opinions, and do not need to necessarily share them- I ask you why not?

First of all, let me apologize, I used the word "Sanity" because it was in the title.

1 I don't believe in bringing troops back from Iraq before that government can survive on its own...
2) I don't believe that the institutionalization of health care will positively impact the heath care field...
3) While taking taxes off of American families and placing them on the shoulders of big business seems like a good idea, what usually happens is...
1)Even if Ralph Nader was elected President, we are never leaving Iraq. Voting for either McCain or Obama will only determine if we refer to our soldiers as "Troops" or "Peace Keeping Forces". We now have diplomatic leverage against Saudi Arabia and considering how dependant we are on oil, we are not going to give it up.

2) It is a valid concern only it relies too heavily on the notion that socialized doctors will be paid crap. In current 1st world countries with socialized medicine, this is not the case. Personally, having been broke I know that the free clinic is better and more timely than an HMO so even though the cream of the crop doctors might leave, 80% of the population doesn't use those doctors anyways.

3) It could happen but we can't let the actions of large corporations scare us into passivity. Personally, I would be more concerned about over taxing corporations and driving them out of the US, since the dollar is underperforming so badly.

They're all manipulative morons dead set on my money. That pretty sums up my opinion of either party.

Yeah, but I just wonder how much longer the bargain will stay around. Feed for the chickens and fuel is going up so how am I still getting such cheap overprocessed goodness ?

I used to be able to tell how well Mexico was doing based on how much the street tacos were and wether or not I got 1 or 2 tortillas for each taco. I doubt my assessment was accurate though.

Sanity, I'd vote for whatever would work. I don't think either parties' platforms will work out simply because the US government has that mystical ability to cock up the greatest plan. While I will admit Ron Paul is a little...extreme in his goals, I think his ideals of small government and non-interventionism are the only sensible ways we can manage our society. Of course he's no longer running so I've got to content myself with buying his book and hoping for some sort of coup d'etat.

I know if you aren't from the United States you probably will hate me for posting this, but the fact that 200,000 Germans ended up attending Obama's "world visits" kinda makes me pause just a little bit.

Nobody would fault me for saying that "Germany has to do right by Germany", or "Great Britain has to do right by Great Britain", so would anybody fault me for saying that any presidential candidate should hold America's best interests FIRST and not the world's????

My sentiments exactly, bravo for your choice of words.(have a cookie)
