Demos you admit made you buy the full game.

Batman: AA, Plants vs Zombies and Solium Infernum are the three demos that made me buy the game instantly.

I actually would have bought King's Bounty: Armored Princess because the demo hinted that the game might be much more fun than the demo, but none of my local stores carries PC-only titles anymore. Bleh.

Hmm, demos huh? Well, the Left 4 Dead 2 demo sold me but I was going to buy that game anyway even without the demo.

You stole my Avatar! A battle to the death I say!
Though on topic, the demo to Arkham Asylum was quite good and I did buy it based on that.

Batman Arkham Asylum I played the demo once, and thought to myself. "Yep I'm buying this game for sure."

Absolutely loads but I don't see how that makes them an impulse buy. What better way to understand a game than to actually try it. I often tend to have read about a game before I try the demo.

I think the demo that most impressed me was Battlefield Bad Company.

The demo for the first Sly game made me buy the entire series.
That avatar pic is a bit gross and very distracting.

I actually had the same thing but due to a car crash, having my tongue stitched up was horrible.

Ah, but it is YOU who stole MY avatar, good sir! I typed my fingers to the bone to make this avatar, and no one is gonna tell me I'm not entitled! Incidentally I searched far and wide to see if someone had already made an avatar out of this scene, because there are tons of Lucky Star avatars out there. But I didn't find this one, so I anigiffed the hilarity myself. I even spent $50 on software to rip the frames and edit them to made them work on the Escapist! But it's always nice to meet another LS fan.

Also, I bought Torchlight after playing the demo.

Wizardry 8.

I don't play demos all that often (and not for the past few years), but that one led me to buying the game.

I don't really buy games so much as rent them.

Demos that have caused me to rent games include:

Arkham Asylum, Mirror's Edge (not as bad as most people think IMO), and inFamous.

I was thinking about getting Brutal Legend because the demo was awesome, but then I found out that it is really an RTS. Turned me off completely.

I also played the Uncharted demo, and like another escapist, thought it wasn't that good. Kept me away from that game for a good 8 months before I borrowed it off of a friend.

In recent times...Mirrors' Edge & L4D2.

I generally avoid demos, but of those I did play, those sold it for me.

Tropico 3. Never played it on PC but when the demo came out for Xbox 360 I just had to buy it.

I don't play demos. Especially not these days where most of them are gigabytes in size. I prefer to watch gameplay trailers on youtube. Faster and just as efficient. (can be even more efficient if the trailer in question is from the full game)
Aye, I'm with ya there, bruther. <- My God. I can't believe I said that. But I don't like editing my original statements ._. They're much too good for that.

I don't like you :( [sub]Your list is much too long..[/sub]
But Ape Escape.. Oh.. Such great memories.. I was 7 or so, so I don't blame it for seeming rather magical.

OT: Demos are frusrating in my opinion. It ruins the satisfaction of recieving an utterly new unoriginal game. Unless that game is awful. Which is one reason why I [sub]should[/sub] play demos.
