The only sports I play are Cross Country and Track and Field. Not much teamwork there.
In games, I'm the support. I sacrifice my points, glory and sometimes fun, for my team.
In Team Fortress 2, I'm ALWAYS the Engineer unless my entire team is Engineers.
In Gears, if it's Guardian I protect the leader. In Warzone I cover my team with the Mortar. I charge into hell to revive teammates.
In Battlefield, I play as the support class. I spend a lot of time healing Abrams tanks and dropping health packs during firefights. I get more kills mortaring key positions for team raids than I do with my M60.
But if a game has aircraft in it, you bet I'll be in it giving air support.
In short, I get kills from responding to calls of distress, defending, and supporting my team.
